Nice Course Layout, But Very Wet
Like most of the courses in Northern Alabama, the fairways are too wet right now. I like the layout of the course but would like to play it this spring or summer when the course has dried up. The greens were in good shape, but when you have to play lift/clean/place the entire round, then it's hard to really give a fair review of the course.
Great Municipal Course
I have played Blackberry Trail about a dozen times now. I really enjoy playing there, and recommend it to my friends.
The greens roll true, and have good speed, especially for a municipal course. The fairways are wide, and do not present a difficulty for most holes. There are a couple of holes that have design issues, and those represent the big challenges of the course. On two of the longer par 4 holes, the driving area has significant hazards (creek, tree) especially for average golfers. The length of the hole demands driver, but that bring the hazard into play. I will say that a par on those holes feels outstanding.
The staff is very friendly, and the lady at the food counter makes an excellent hot dog at the turn.
The course was crowded, and we were held by some slow groups ahead of us, but still able to finish in 4:20.
Great value, and will be back!
Great time
Blackberry as usual was a great experience. Great course and great staff
WINDY
Course is in excellent shape. Greens were in good shape. The course played very difficult with 25 MPH winds and thick Bermuda rough. It was very hard to find the golf ball if you were in the rough. The course is reasonably priced. I got a very good Hot Deal rate.
Pleasantly Surprised
For the money you can't beat it. Great condition from tee to green. Difficult enough but not over bearing. Not very long but definitely a shot making course. Find the rough and you got trouble. Staff super friendly. Had a great time.
Great shape
The course is a fun course to play. Fairways and greens are well manicured. Had an awesome day.
Awesome
Played the course with my two boys. We are always greeted with a friendly staff in the clubhouse. The course is in great shape. Greens were still soft in spite of a lack of rain. They also rolled very good. This is a quality course. The only negative is there are times when some people need to allow others to play through. Otherwise, great course with friendly staff
