Quail Ridge Golf Club

About
Quail Ridge Golf Club sprawls across 300 acres of rolling hills just east of Grand Rapids. The expansive course provides plenty of room on each hole. Raymond Hearn, a Michigan native, designed the unique layout, seamlessly combining links-style holes and tree-lined holes for variety. The golf course is challenging with strategically placed bunkers and elevation changes coming into play but they are balanced by more player-friendly elements including generous fairways and ample landing areas. Water doesn't have a particularly prominent role but the high fescue that borders the fairways offer plenty of challenges. Quail Ridge Golf Club's greens are large and undulating, with one of the best examples being on the 17th. The green on this par 3 has two tiers that differ dramatically in elevation and neither tier is very visible from the tee, making pin placement extremely important.

Nice layout, needs some TLC
Our pace if play was 3 hours on a Sunday for a twosome. Had a 4some on our heels most of the way. So even as a 4 some speed was good.
Hoped to have breakfast. But the grill wasnt staffed at 8am, nor was a cook a available at 1030 on the turn. Minor issue.
Ballmarks on greens were more of an issue. Beautiful greens with so many ball Mark's that werent repaired it was sad. Cannot blame the course for that. Practice area was sorely lacking of grass to hit from as it was full of divots. Overall this should be a 5 not a 4 course.
Its been while since last played, Glad I came back
As my title say last time I played this course was before GPS in your cars had to use on line maps.
I had wanted to come back to play this course for last couple of years. I wasn't disappointed. From the whites not really long. But those greens will test yours skills. The better shot maker who can place ball below the hole will have a great advantage. The course is challenges your belief in yardages. 1st hole from the tee box looks like Par 4. 360 yards par 4 instead.
For the most part we played good paced front 9. Started to slow on the back. Not sure why since the next group in front of us teed off easily 20 minutes earlier. In the end we played a little over 4 hours for group, that one of us seen once and the others have never played.
Just one thing the staff was outstanding and friendly. From the person at the counter to the rangers on the course.
Great course
I went out at twilight for a quick 9 by myself. Most courses I play at the play is very cramped this time of year. Playing as a single I barely saw any other golfers. Rate of play was perfect. Only complaint is there were too many faults on the greens from people not fixing as they play. Other than that, everything was perfect.
Quail Ridge
Wonderful course that places emphasis on shot placement, not just raw length. The conditions were very good, huge green complexes that were speedy and true.a do over for sure.
What a great course
Playing here was a real pleasure. The course is laid out through a large rolling wooded site and the holes take advantage of the setting. It was fairly empty here at 8:30 on Monday morning, so play was fast. The course is in excellent condition with lush fairways and quick greens. There is lots of tall grass just outside the roughs, so expect to lose some golf balls! Only a few water holes, so you probably won’t need a retriever. I paid the senior rate and I will be back for sure.
Good track but a bit overpriced
The course was in good shape. Greens were in excellent shape. The entire experience was quite good and my whole group felt that it was a good course and that we’d play again. However, the $55-60 we paid for our 18 hole round plus the $6 for a small bucket of range balls felt a touch on the high side for the area. I’d place the course in more of the $40-45 range as a fair price. With that said, it was not a bad experience just pushing the limits of what we were comfortable paying for a no-frills course. Other things worth noting: Beverage cart was very available and made frequent passes and the Hot dogs were absolutely delicious and fairly priced.
I love this course
Big greens(very fast).... wide open fairways... beautiful scenery.....great golf course
Great course
Pace was good, greens were fast, course in good shape for amount of rain recently.
Really wet
I think the course would be more fun if it hadn’t been under water. It seemed like there was either no drainage or that it had been overwhelmed. Layout was fun, staff was amazing, and pace was good for cart path only. No driving range was a bummer.
Extremely slow
First off, Golfnow added (3) players to our 2some, so we had a 5some which the course would not let tee off. We had to wait until 6:45 from our 6:15 tee time, and then proceeded to play 9 holes in just about 3 hours. The course was overbooked. Horrible planning by the course.
The course was in good shape, but it was an awful experience.
Slow but nice course
There was a slow 4 some ahead of us and a slow 4 some in front of them which caused us only to be able to get 12 of 18 in. They need to stack their tee times better. The course was nice and had a relaxing layout. Their golfers didn't fix divots which is frustrating but it was likely the scramble tournament earlier that day. Overall it was nice, just wish people weren't on top of everyone.
Great layout. Challenging a senior! Greens were in great shape considering the time of year!
Nice layout
Great price on GolfNow due to Easter holiday. In pretty good shape considering the time of year. Lots of tree branches or trimmed brush laying around , but understandable for this early in the season. Greens were plugged in the fall (or earlier this year). This caused many puts to move of their intended line.
No real complaints base in the great Spring price (& the great layout).
Excellent value
I play this course 5-6 times a year and its always what you expect when you go to the course, never disappointed. Always want to go back.
