Quail Ridge Golf Club

About
Quail Ridge Golf Club sprawls across 300 acres of rolling hills just east of Grand Rapids. The expansive course provides plenty of room on each hole. Raymond Hearn, a Michigan native, designed the unique layout, seamlessly combining links-style holes and tree-lined holes for variety. The golf course is challenging with strategically placed bunkers and elevation changes coming into play but they are balanced by more player-friendly elements including generous fairways and ample landing areas. Water doesn't have a particularly prominent role but the high fescue that borders the fairways offer plenty of challenges. Quail Ridge Golf Club's greens are large and undulating, with one of the best examples being on the 17th. The green on this par 3 has two tiers that differ dramatically in elevation and neither tier is very visible from the tee, making pin placement extremely important.

Ran by a bunch of kids
staff treated us like garbage. Rude and just a bunch of kids running the place after 5 on the weekends.
WOW...who set these pins for Sunday play?
This is a great little track that offers some challenging shots and nice scenery. The course was a little on the soggy side as we had just had a pretty good front go through but was very playable. Greens were moderately fast but a bit beat up with both un-repaired and poorly repaired ball marks. Fairways in nice shape and it allowed us to play summer rules. Whoever set the pins must have had a bad night or just been thrown out of the house because eighteen (yep, ALL eighteen) were set really tough - close to the edges, on ridges...you know the drill. In any given round you should have some toughies but some, or maybe just a couple, need to be somewhat approachable. Note to the GM...if you want to set these kind of pins why do it on Sunday? It was surely the primary reason for the slow play and certainly added 5 or 6 shots to the rounds. Sure, I get it in that you want to use all of the space the greens afford to minimize the wear and tear but why not consider getting goofy with placements during the week with fewer on the track? If you goal is to minimize the number of rounds on the weekends, then...bingo....you have effected a great start.
Terrible pace of play
Went to play at 1pm on a Monday and the pace of play was terrible. As a 2-some we are both average golfers and took us almost 5 hrs to play. The course let a 5-some play ahead of us. Did not see a ranger all day to help speed up play and when called into the clubhouse, there was no answer. Finished the round and went inside to give them feedback, and it was on deaf ears. You would think a course would want to keep returning business. I would not recommend this course to anyone anymore, it's too bad as the course is great but ownership and management are horrible!!

the 5 some played and didn't let you play through? that is the sickest thing ever! i dont like when slow foursomes dont let my foursome play through...but i will hit full drivers into a 5 some
Great course
One of my favorite courses, challenging and fun to play. Always in great condition would recommend to anyone.
One of Grand Rapid's best
I've played here 10-15 times and keep coming back for the great course conditions and unique layout. Always a challenging and fun course to play.
Great course
A very nice, well maintained course.
Decent course
This course was fine however the pace of play was ridiculously slow and the staff tried to blame us at one point even though we were waiting at every hole. Don't think I would play this course again given the quality of courses in the Grand Rapids area. I will say, the food in the clubhouse was fantastic
A bit down from last year
Played here several times at different times of the year, and for early season things were noticeably down from last year in maintenance. Greens are looking a little rough and traps need attention. Still a good play and a fun layout, but probably a little over priced at full fare.
Great track, slow moving
This is a great course tucked away on the southeast side of the GR area. Track was in solid shape overall with greens that rolled like a dream. Only negative is the busy times are really busy, resulting in a 5+ hour round during peak times. If you can get over that, or can go at a slower time, do it. The place has a nice layout and can get challenging at times. Worth it for the greens alone!
Quail Ridge
Nice course, a few quirky holes but overall, an enjoyable round. The rough is thick and the greens are tough to stop your approach shots on, land them short and run it up. Greens also are super fast.
Still wet in many fairways, part of spring course prep.
Have played here many times. This course is one normally ready early in the spring with a strong crew, but also fairly wet due to soil conditions. Cart paths throughout speed play, but heavy play will cause 4.5 hours minimum for a 4 some.
Great Course close to G.R.!
Great course with pretty wide open fairways. Fairly tough greens and a good amount of diversity from hole to hole. Friendly staff and always a good pace of play. Play early in the year or play late before the rates get a little pricey.
Great Course, Miserable Management
Arrived at the course only to be informed that we had been double booked with an outing and the tee was held up by 50 minutes. And then, play was so backed up on every hole it took 5 and 1/2 hours to play 14 holes before we quit for the day. I only have wonderful things to say about the course setup and conditions, but the GM and staff are a complete joke. Pace of play is pathetic and has been my experience every time i've attempted to play here.
Great Course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait to play it more this season and next season, tees fairways and the greens are the best. I'm in a league at Eagle Eye and Hawk Hallow they do not hold a candle to Quail Ridge. GOOD JOB!!!!
Great course
Great course fun to play. Challenging for any level of golfer. One of the best in west Michigan that open to the public.
Interesting
An interesting layout. Plenty of elevation changes and blind shots. Knowing where to position your ball is paramount here. Greens were fairly quick with lots of undulation. Wide open fairways, so you shouldn't lose too many balls here, even a beginner. Pretty scenery, barely any water in play.
Nice course
Well groomed course. A bit flatter than most Michigan courses I have played. Greens were of average speed and well maintained. GPS would be a plus to determine some of the required carries.
Beautiful course
It was my first time playing this course, it was beautiful and well worth the money!!!! Was a little disappointed in the beer girl, only seen her once said she would come back never seen her again. Only had one beer we Liked in the club house. Over all it was excellent course.....
Great course
My only problem was the bar was closed due to a wedding reception and it took us a really long time to get drinks for the back nine. I felt bad for the guy working in the pro shop. There were many people waiting. Someone finally came in to help him but it was long wait. He was very apologetic and friendly. Loved the course and if I play it again, I will probably try to go earlier in the day to avoid wedding receptions.
Fun Course
This is a wide open and fun course. The pace of play isn't the best if you get behind a slow group and there are no rangers to enforce the pace of play. Overall I have always enjoyed this course and will continue to return as long as the price is right.
