Great course for a great price.
This course is great for your average golfer or one who wants a challenge. Enjoyable to play and at a great price.
This course is links style and well maintained.
The course is fairly wide open and not extremely long. The day we played the fairways were in good shape and the greens rolled true. All in all well worth the money we paid. Will play gain.
Pace of play, course conditions, greeens, etc were great considering it is so early in the golf season.
Considerng this was spring golf, the course was in great shape.
Good course, lots of hills
Glengarry was a decent course for the money. It is very hilly, which adds some challenge to make up for a shorter length. Only plays to a par 69 from the tips. Course was in rather good shape for April. Greens were fairly fast. Would like to play it again in the summer months.
Well kept course, in nice condition early in the year and challenging.
Well kept course, nice scenery and in nice condition for so early in the year, and challenging as a links course goes (though lacking fescue). I have played here numerous times and always find those in the Pro Shop to be accommodating and helpful, and the course to be in good condition. I recommend it as a reasonably priced, local, relaxing place to play a round.
Very unique design, challenging.
What a unique course for western PA! This truly is an honest attempt at a links-style course despite being constructed in Pennsylvania farm country, with rolling hills, considerable topography, and long fairways. We were told the course is privately owned and operated by a group of retirees who are more passionate about European style golf than about making money, which makes for an enjoyable course to play.
The course seems to have been constructed in and around a developed community. From the looks of it, the developer bough several hundred acres of hilly farmland and developed a small residential community and surrounded it with a golfcourse. The views are spectacular!
The clubhouse is pretty lack-luster, but there is a neat old barn (presumably from the original farm on the property) with a restaurant. Judging from the timber and hole-and-peg construction, the barn appears to be at least 100yrs old- a really interesting structure.
The course is challenging! The first tee is an intimidating blind uphill shot over a gorge and onto a side-sloped fairway for a lengthy and unforgiving par 5. All of the fairways are lined with untamed high fieldgrass, which simulates European fescue, so hitting fairways is important. The greens and fairways are well watered and maintained. The greens are a little challenging, but not lightening fast.
The layout is well designed and follows a continuous pattern that takes you on a nice tour around the property. Some of the higher elevation holes have spectacular scenery of the surrounding area. There is a very good variety of holes and keeps play interesting. The 18th hole is a par 5 that ends in a spectacular drop for the second shot. An absolute bomb off the tee can reach the drop and roll quite close for a second approach shot, but you're likely hitting a blind second shot and laying up. The green is over a water hazard and right in front of the barn, which has tables outside to watch people play the 18th.
Definitely worth a try, just to see a different style of course.
Very interesting layout. Hilly but manageable.
Great course. Hard to lose a ball which reduces time of play.
Tee boxes are excellent as well as the fareways.
Great Clubhouse with a porch to sit outside and watch groups come in on the difficult 18th.
I'll be back.
Good value, challenging greens
Enjoyed the course, turn is at the 11th hole, had first tee time and had to deal with mowers a lot all the way thru the round. Wish my putting was better because the greens were receptive but had a lot of break to them.
great course, friendly staff, well maintained
My girlfriend and I play here a few times a week and it our absolute favorite course in western pa. Glenngary has great rates on gnow everyday. The staff is extremely courteous and understanding. I slept in an one morning and was an hour late and the young man working had no problem letting me play even on a busy morning. I would strongly recommend this course to anyone. Glenngary also has one of the best views of any course in Westmoreland county.
Beautiful course! Excellent for the money!
Glengarry has some incredible views of the Laurel Mountains. I am a novice golfer and this course was very good for my skill level. The course could use a little work in a few areas, but as a whole, it was a very good course. There are some challenging holes and some that are fairly easy. The greens are well kept. Golfnow offered an incredible rate and was well worth the money. I definitely recommend this course.
Not shabby
I got this on a prepay special for $20/person, which is awesome, as literally any course stands up to about that. That being said, it is wide open minus a few holes and not the toughest course in the area. They do a pretty good job keeping it up, and overall it's a pretty decent course for western PA.
Good Experience
Enjoy the day from the time we arrived and checked in through our sandwich and beer afterwards. All the staff was friendly and did their best to make sure we had a good experience. Definitely a great value to play for what we paid. More courses should make offers like this and more people will come back when they have a good experience such as we had.
Wide open, with some interesting holes
You can spray the ball on this links set-up, but from the tips, it's a challenging layout. Greens are always in good shape, and fairly difficult to putt (good thing). Sand bunkers are in poor condition. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are well cared-for, and it has some unique holes and a set-up I have really grown to enjoy.
