Great day, great course!!
The course was in great shape and was a great value at the price!! Played with a couple of other players who were familiar with the course which helped. Was a bit more difficult than my wife is used to, but one of the nicer/more difficult ones I have played in quite a while.
Excellent value at the price!!
This is a lot of golf course.
The day we played, the weather was, in a word, rotten! Very cold with a wind howling out of the North. Having been soaked by recent rains, there was no roll so the course played long even though we moved up a set of tees.
There are 5 sets of tees so you can pick the length that suits you, but the course will still be a challenge. The greens are huge and well bunkered. Many seem to be 2 or 3 greens in one, and if you put your approach in the wrong place, you are in for an adventure!
There are holes that call for forced carries over hazards that are daunting. Think Ohio is flat land? Play here and you will be quickly disabused of that notion!
We will play here again, but will wait for better weather to firm the course up. I will say that the hot deal we got on GolfNow was amazing. There are goat ranches in the area you can't play for so little!
tough
course tough for people over 70 but was is great shape would play again
Tough course
This is a tough course; can't always see the flag and layout confusing. Expensive, unless using golf now
Terrific Layout, Better Restaurant
Having recently relocated to Pittsburgh, several acquaitances suggested playing this club.
Well worth the visit.
The staff was very pleasant, welcoming and genuinely interested in starting our day off well.
The course overall holds ones attention as the design includes expansive fairways and greens, well placed bunkering and natural hazards that require controling ones ball at all times. Several stout holes were balanced with “shorter” reward holes.
Green surfaces are large, multi-tiered and noting pin placements are a must. GPS on the carts really helps with yardages as well as pin locations.
Pay attention to the putting green as the speed and slope are exactly what you will find on the course.
First timers, regardless of skill, might play it one tee forward and use the initial visit as a learning experience. There are a few forced carries and blind landing zones.
Post round, a “must” is the restaurant that serves very tasty sandwiches, apps and full meals with a great variety of craft beer on tap.
Enjoy this course and will be back as often as I can.

Critique/Total Possible Points/Points Received
Country club feel.
Greens are larger than other courses in the area. Course looks like a links style one would find in Pine Hurst North Carolina. There is a dress code basically same attire one would wear on the tour. Miss the fairways this time of year good luck finding your golf ball between the leaves and rough. Judging from the caliber of homes built around the course and the club house set up this course may soon require members only to play.
A well kept secret for many years; not anymore!
Other than the aerated tee boxes, the course was in excellent shape. I have been coming to this course for the past 5 years and it has gotten better every year. If you haven't been to this course, do yourself a favor.
Nice course
Excellent course, a little crowded. A threesome jumped in front of us on the back, where is the starter? Love the GPS on the carts.
Definitely Recommend
We enjoyed a beautiful mid-70's August week day on this course. Not too crowded. Perfect pace of play. Course is in good condition. I might recommend more water availability on the course. Also, we never saw the "drink cart".
One of my favorites
The course was in very good condition considering the large amount of rain it had received in the proceeding days. A very good golf course that is getting better with age.
Well worth the trip to enjoy one of Ohio's finest.
MY REVIEW
Much of what the previous reviewer said was true. Pace of play stinks, staff attitude upity. Having said that the course looks like a real golf course, traps, trees, wetlands, water, many tee boxes and very large undulating greens. Have played here many times and the greens have always looked beat up, maybe a lot of play from ignorant people or maybe the need for more care. Most of the scenery consists of large homes. Price for senors on a weekday$28. Would I play here again? If scheduled on the groups play list yes if not no.
good course for the money
played here for the first time last year and have loved it ever since. greens roll true and sometimes fast. the course is always tip top. your be faced few semi blind tee shots. alot of the time club selection is key off the tee. the carts have a gps that tell you yardage to the front middle back of green and to the stick. i have one con about this place it holds water but overall an amazing place to play if you haven't here yet dont wait any longer! for 45 dollars you cant beat it
Disappointing
First of all let me say that the course is generally in good condition. There are some holes that look like a construction zone (hole 12 I'm looking at you). I have not played this course outside of scrambles in 3 years due to pace of play issues. They had issues of letting 5-somes out on weekends. I thought they would have gotten their act together, but they have not. Do not expect to get finished in less than 5 hours...and closer to 6. This is not a first time occurrence as it has become the norm. For my return patronage to this course... I had a 1:39 tee time and did not tee off until about 2:00. I expressed my dismay over the delay to the starter who acted as if I was fortunate to play this public course. He then said that the owner let some groups go out that messed up the tee times, but I don't know if this is true or if someone can't handle scheduling tee times. The practice green was near the first tee and it would have been nice to use, but there were about 4 people hitting flop shots onto the practice green and I became concerned that I would get clocked. After finally teeing off it was about 8 to 10 minutes waiting to hit the next shot which does wonders for your rhythm.
The course layout is nice, but unless you tee off really early you are in for a frustratingly long day of waiting. It's a shame since the course layout is nice, but pace of play continues to hurt this course. If they would improve on this it would likely be a much better public course experience. There are too many other good public course options to spend your money.
Great
Overall layout excellent, lots of character. Very good service, would very much recommend. One suggestion, better marking for next tee location.
Thank you
Best layout around
This course has one of the best layouts of any public course within an hour of Pittsburgh. Opening three holes are fantastic, and none of the subsequent holes were boring in any way. It's definitely a tough track from back playing a true 7000 yards. Most holes have hazards and there are lots of bunkers. Condition of the of course was excellent too. Certainly would drive more than an hour to play here.
This course has great features
WELL WHAT CAN I SAY THE COURSE WAS EXCELLENT . I WILL PLAY MORE THERE!!!!!!
Great Value, Nice Layout
Was pleasantly surprised as this was the 1st time I played the course. Paid only $29 for a Golf Now deal, great value for the money.. Holes have character, greens are fast, very friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone and will play again the next time I'm in the Youngstown Area. Played at 12noon on a Thursday and the course was open with very few players on it. Played as a threesome and got 18 holes in, in under 3 hours!
worth the trip
Course is in great shape for this early in the year, for some reason this saturday afternoon the course was not overly busy for teeing off around noon.
Good layout, but played off-season
The course had a nice layout. There were a couple holes that were quirky requiring tee shots to slanted fairways. Hard to give an overall assessment of the greens because it was during the fall and right after a storm, so there was a lot of debris and leaves to deal with.
You are right on. I have played many times and it is a great golf course but the fact of the matter is 47 dollars is too much to pay in April for a 5 hour round.
