Unfortunate Level of Maintenance
As you pull into the parking lot, the grounds and service will make you think you are at a private club. Before I got out of my car, there was a young man with a cart (and his hand out for a tip- which is a theme that continues. I have absolutely no problem giving attendants a tip, but I don't expect to multiple times and every time I turn around, which the attendants were very aggressive about). Unfortunately, the parking lot is where the similarities to a private club end. This course is such a nice layout, it is a shame that the maintenance crew seems to be so lacking in their upkeep of the course. Greens- terrible with pitch marks and dead grass. Fairways- unplayable in places due to divots and dead areas. Seems that the course places much more attention on the driving range, clubhouse, and restaurant/ bar than it does on the course itself. If you're coming for dinner, a drink, or to hit a bucket of balls, it should be an enjoyable experience. If you're coming to golf, save your money. There's many nicer courses within a short drive.
The course is not only beautiful, it is a golfers dream
When you go golfing you look for a place you can remember and talk about, well this is the place. Great fairways and greens and the landscaping is amazing. I want to play there again as soon as I can. Loved it!
Course has a great layout!
Course was in great condition except for most of the greens. They were bumpy from either a lot of play or a wet summer or both. They actually had to micro-aerate a few to try to get them back into shape.
Apres golf is great there too!
The greens are ruined by ball marks that are not fixed by players. The staff need to remind the players to fix the marks.
This course is really a enjoyable course. The GPS is very helpful.
I wish they provided a couple of rest rooms and drinking water coolers.
Excellent course, interesting layout, scenic and great value
Excellent course with a great layout, and a number of interesting holes that make you think on shot selection. A number of blind shots with hazards but the GPS in the carts alert you to these. Course is scenic as it is cut through a wooded area that has been made into a housing development but the houses are far enough away and not over-bearing. Couse is well maintained and a great value. Comparable to the Quarry course in Canton area but with much more reasonable greens fees.
Great course. It was extra difficult due to the rain that day, but still in great shape.
Love the course. I'll play there again for sure. Great value.
This course has difficult hole positions
My friend and i travel to Ohio for golf typically. We have heard great things about this course but have never got the opportunity to play. We finally played this weekend and were thrilled at the condition and challenges the course had to offer. Playing from the Black Tees opened up new challenges and obstacles for us to navigate. We will definitely play this course again.
Needs alot of work
The course is NOT in good condition. The tee boxes are all full of sand. The greens are terrible. Way too many ball marks. And the condition of the grass is spotty. I love the layout (thanks, Mr. Huntley) but this course is in dire need of some TLC. What a shame this place could be a gem. I will never come back here again.(and I played here every year since they opened around 8 years ago.) but with these conditions my money spends well better for a better groomed course.
great value
Very good golf course......challenging, with very large and difficult greens. Lots of undulations. Conditions were good and pace of play was great. Snack bar and patio are nice and staff was friendly.
Excellent Layout, Needs TLC
The layout of this course is excellent. It has lots of mature trees which really adds to its scenery. The bunkers are in excellent condition. The fairways have bald spots that need repaired, which takes away from the great look of the course. Also, the tee box behind #15 is like a mud gully that's been that way for at least 2 years. That makes for an ugly approach to the tee box.
nice variety of holes, choose the correct tees box for your skill level and you will have a great time at kennsington
Kennsington is a great course to play,if it wasn't a 1:15 minute drive I would play there all the time.Nice variety of holes fair greens, bunkers maintained, water comes into play on many holes. no 2 holes are the same. Clubhouse and restaurant nice also.
Late fall round.. great condition
Have played here several times.. Always a great course..... Staff friendly..Course was in good condition.
good layout but needs attention
I like the layout here, great terrain, holes are varied, reasonably open, big greens. However, it gets a lot of play and is fairly beat up, apparently few of my fellow golfers think to repair divots and no sand or seed is made available for those who would be willing to leave the course a better place. This is not helped by the underlying soil being thin in places so that the course is "still growing in" even though it has been open for some years now. You should play it now as many of the trees (it was formerly all wooded) are in a state of pre-death and the course soon will look very different , it already does. The par 5 16th hole is just plain awkward for the average golfer with a 180 yard third shot over an unplayable ravine. An accident of the terrain, not a designed hole, but many of the others are very scenic and satisfying if played well.
Good course layout and freindly staff.
Greens could be faster and ball marks are a real problem. Course layout is very nice and would recommend to anyone looking for a challenging, yet fair test of golf.
I agree, they have a sign in the landscaping near the clubhouse that says "Here lies the last person that didn't repair their ball mark. "I got a chuckle out of it and commented I wanted to take that sign to a different course I play that has a bad problem. I think courses should hand divot tools them out free because they cant cost that much.
