View from #1 tee to fairway Photo submitted by Jacob6471721 on 09/26/2017
Ball placement left and right on drives is key.
This course is one you need to get familiar with.
Aiming for center fairway on drives will leave you scrambling on your approach shot. There are a couple par 3's that will excite you. The greens play relatively fast, with challenging undulations. The course length is respectable. Some fairways were dry, throwing off my iron shot.
A sensible value for a mediocre course.
Kensington Great Course
It was a beautiful day on a well manicured course. Everything about the course is magnificent.
I have been playing this course for years. It is a beautiful layout. Unfortunately the greens were the worst I've seen . They were actually aeriating the greens while we were playing and had to wait in the fairway for 6 minutes until they finished. They must have had a bunch of rain. Some water damage in some of the fairways. Course is still worth the trip. Great 19 th hole.
Probably the best layout out of all public golf courses in the Youngstown/Warren area. I did not find the conditions to be as bad as many just a few chewed up tee boxes but the fairways and greens seemed to be in solid shape.
One of the best designed courses in the area, great layout
This was the first time playing this course, it was well worth the drive from the Akron area. Really easy to get to the course from the highway.
The design of this course is awesome, lots of options to get around this course. Holes play around several creeks, ravines, lakes, and hills. The course has a lot of width, and the greens are huge. The holes are surrounded by tall mature trees, several tee shot use the trees to help your aim off the tee. A great mix of par 4s and a five gorgeous and playable par 3s. Local architect Brian Huntley, created another incredible course for Northeast Ohio.
I played early in the morning, 7:30 tee time, several groups were in front of me, we got around 18 holes in 4 hours. The front nine was a little slower than the back. Not and ideal course of novice and beginner golfs. The course looks like it gets a ton of play, and the players don't help maintain the course for fellow players. The par three tee boxes had more divots than I have ever seen on a course. The greens had ball marks all over the place. Every putt over 30 feet seemed to have an unfixed mark in the line. Other than that, the fairways were good, the did not find an wet spots or bare grass in the fairways (complaints I had heard about).
Potential not realized....disappointed.
I keep hoping that the conditions of this course will improve as promised. The layout is awesome -- the fairways and greens are not. Every single green is pockmarked by ball marks; evidently repair tools are forbidden. In addition, the wash-outs that run across many of the fairways are puzzling as growing grass here in Mahoning Co is not that difficult. I am disappointed each time I play at Kennsington. As you might conclude, I wonder why I go back. I wonder why I pay almost $50 for a round here. I also wonder why the starter sent out a five-some on number 10 in front of my three-some as we were driving up to the ninth green? There is a lot this course could do better with just a little bit of effort. Instead of golfing here, spend $32 at one of the two Donald Ross-designed courses 1.5 miles down the road at Mill Creek Park
Not bad for the hot deal price
This was our first time playing this course. Overall, the layout was nice, some holes were challenging. The condition of the course was fair to poor, although, it was the spring, had been raining and was cart path only. I would not have been happy at all if we had paid full price.
Slowest course around
The last time we played there it took 5 1/2 hours. The starter told us then to come after 3 o'clock because it is wide open then. We had a t tee time for 305 and they let a group of 20 people replay in front of us. We started 30 minutes late and it took 2 1/2 hours for the front nine. The course has a great layout but if you're going to play there plan on spending six hours because that's the average time it takes to play here.
Needs fairway help
Layout was challenging and required strategy from black tees , which I love. I know it is mid April but fairways were in bad shape , didn't appear that they could signifanctly recover as we advance through spring . Greens were not rolling great in comparison to other courses I've played this spring , but were ok.
Disappointing But We Will Be Back
Kennsington is one of my favorite courses to play but the course conditions (especially fairways and greens) were in much better condition a month ago. The greens had been recently punched, the fairways are not in good shape. Extremely disappointing because this course has always been pristeen every other time we've ever played it. Not sure why they waited to do winter course projects until April - winter months were not bad enough to keep maintenance and improvements to have been done before April. Maybe they have a new course superintendent - not sure.
We were a 2-some playing behind a 3-some who does not understand golf etiquette and never offered us to play through. 4 and 1/2 hour round for a 2-some playing behind a 3-some, is not acceptable playing time.
But we will go back again because we KNOW how the course normally plays.
Love the course layout
Played this course for the first time and was pleasantly surprised with how good the conditions were this early in the season. Would love to play this course mid-Summer.
This course has great features
For Jan. this course was wet be great. I will love to play it when it is dry. The sand traps need work, but it's very early in the season. Google maps does not get you to the course, more information after leaving route 11 is needed and after that there is some strange turns.
A drive for me but well worth it
I'm from Pittsburgh and meet friends from Cleveland here (mid point for us). The conditions are always good and the greens are firm and fast. Love the track and with enough water and bunkers it provides a scenic and challanging round of golf. This particular day 9have played their many times) the box was backed up. We teed off 40 minutes past our reserved tee time. Disappointing. 1st time it happened. I'll let it go.
Will be back again in 2017
Wow...
This course was in amazing shape this late in the year. The greens were aerated but played better than a lot of greens that we're not. One group left because of the greens please IT'S NOVEMBER 18TH AND 70DEGREE!!! Just be happy you're playing this late in the year. I will return and play again. I live in Cleveland and play all over Ohio my favorite course is the Virtues was Longaberger and this Course making me change my mind I think lol.. I had a great time.
Eagle
Eagled #3 from 147yds! Great course, slow because of it being cart path only
Great Day
It was a great day at Kennsington , the weather was good a little cool in the morning but warmed up through out the day. The course was in good shape, except the greens were a little beat up but that is to be expected this time of year. They were plugging the fairways on the front 9 the day we played so we did have to put up with that but only for 2 holes, so it was not that bad, Overall for the price the course condition and the pace of play, I would rate it excellent.
One of my Favorites
Only decided a couple days in advance to play there and all the good (9 am) tee times were gone. We've played there many times over the last 7 years and love the conditions and layout. More people are learning of this course and with an added Marriot hotel it is getting busier. Conditions are super, price is reasonable and the layout is great. Staff got us out 70 minutes before our scheduled tee time. Gave us the opportunity to play 27 holes. Oh, the food at the bar/restaurant was very good and a good selection of beers.

unleel fairways add more of a challenge than people expect.
