Golfer Reviews
Beautiful Scenic Course
This course will not disappoint. There are plenty of beautiful holes that can offer quite a challenge but still be fun. Pace of play was great. We caught up to the group in front of us but still managed to finish in just over 3 and 1/2 hours. Only minor complaint would be the construction going on in the area but I don’t hold that against the course at all.
This course was amazing!
The course was very well- maintained and the atmosphere was so great. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and I really enjoyed my time there. The restaurant also had a wide variety of different foods and it was very tasty. I would definitely recommend Kennsington to anyone!
Love this club!
Course is in great condition and wonderful customer service!
Beautiful course
Outstanding course, very fun layout! 6 different T boxes to choose from, and they have a chart of wich one you should play according to your club distances.
Great layout.
Very nice course. Off season rates. Layout was nice, challenging
Public golf course doesn't deserve to have US Open rough
Played 2 consecutive rounds 10/02 and 10/03 with group of 20 golfers. I have played Kennsington around 15 times and have always liked playing there. This time was different. Due to heavy rain previous 2 weeks and greens and fairways being punched, course was playing extremely long. But that wasn't the issue. Rough was 9 to 15 inches! When I asked why the rough was so high, the gentleman in the pro shop indicated they do not want to cut it because they want the course not to burn out and look nice. Also, the pro shop attendant stated that the way to not play out of the rough is to keep it in the fairway. That is a poor excuse to not cut the rough. Rounds are taking 5 to 6 hours to complete according to previous reviews. We had to look for golf balls on almost every hole. Kennsington is definitely not a Winged Foot, Oakmont, or any other US Open course. Cut your rough! Improve your pace of play. Food and drinks in your great bar and restaurant is fantastic. The hotel there is also top notched. I don't understand. Kennsington please help me understand this as a golfer.
Praying for rain
First off the driving range was the worst no grass to hit from everyone complained about it. Because of no rain they neglected to cut the rough. If you got off the fairway it was very hard to find your ball in 6 to 8 inches of grass. The greens were hard and dried out. I would not recommend this course at this time.
kensington
love the coarse play it at least twice a year good distance away for me
This is a no-go
I was pretty amped about playing this course, because I had heard some decent things about the conditions and layout. The golf itself was fine, albeit on the slow side- course was definitely overbooked. It took 2.5 hours to play front 9.
More disappointing is that the course does not offer rain checks. This is an appalling policy, as it in no way encourages people to come back and play. Even speaking with staff, they said “everyone knows this about us”. I do wonder how a first time player is supposed to know a course plans to take your money and run. Even further, the staff who mentioned the had been there 3-5 years agreed that it was a terrible policy (looking at you Bob and Terry) but nothing could be done. This only reinforces the notion that the owners/managers are stingy and in no way want to encourage future attendance.
Needless to say, I will not be returning. There are far better value courses in the areas. I’m here to play golf, not line someone’s pockets.
Has potential
Course has potential to be a great course. Rough is extremely long, some fairways quite wet, great layout, slow pace of play. Staff not friendly at all. We had one player that was sick and asked for a rain check. I was rudely told they don't do rain checks and it wasn't raining. Now rather than us going back to play there again, they have lost a customer.
One of my favorites
Well worth an hour drive for Pittsburgh. Excellent course.
So much potential but....
Great layout but course needs a little TLC, has alot of potential to be a fabulous course. Some fairways were very wet, hard to even find firm ground. Greens were in good condition, rough is way to long
Great layout, fun but very challenging
Some of the holes are suffering from dry conditions. #10 is atrocious. But it looks like they did they did the right thing and tore it up to save it for next year. Most holes are very playable. Greens were good but bit long. This coarse is always fun to play, great layout. Always something new on every hole.
