Westchester Golf Course
Westchester Golf Course is known for its playability, which is further enhanced by five sets of tees that accommodate all skill levels. There are six lakes throughout the course and numerous waste areas filled with wildflowers and native grasses but sand is a more prominent element of the design. There are more than 75 bunkers treacherously lurking beside the greens and fairways. Golfers who manage to avoid the bunkers will find that a good score can definitely be attained thanks to generously sized fairways and only mild undulation in the greens. Although it is seemingly difficult, the layout is more approachable than it looks although it does require straight, accurate shots and a bit of strategy. In addition to the course, Westchester G.C. also offers an expansive practice range and putting green.

Management was disrespectful.
Showed up to play a round with my grandpa and just happened to be 2-3 minutes late due to the traffic in the area. Was ridiculed by the clubhouse for being late but they said they could fit me in to the tee time. A course ranger showed up to direct me to the 1st hole and doubled down on the fact that being there late was not okay and didn’t help the course.. So they punished me by pairing me with another golfer. I apologized about being slightly late and was only given more heat about how I “shouldn’t be late to this course” amongst other things. These people are not friendly nor understanding and I would not recommend any people to this course.
Tee boxes were sandy and slippery. Although the fairways were excellent. Greens had been aerated within the last few weeks but had started growing back in, and greens were very fast.
Course was in good shape having been aerated 3 weeks earlier. Soft green due to rain allowed more ball marks but greens were in good shape overall. Fairways were well groomed and open. Enjoyable to play
Enjoyable round of golf
The pace of play was good. The course condition was excellent, fairways great, greens great, layout great. Even the bunkers were raked and in good condition.
Love this course. Great layout with a lot of challenging holes. Wish someone would have told me the greens had just been aerated though. Putting is no fun on aerated greens. Did not enjoy that aspect.
Burst my bubble
I was looking forward to playing this course since it had been few years since last time and always enjoyed it. The course was in great shape.... except for the greens which plays a huge part. Greens were recently aerated (maybe that morning) and were impossible to get any type of roll on them, no speed and extra breaks from all the sand. Approach shots would just bounce. To top it off as we were on practice green the staff decided it was good time to drag it. Will definitely call ahead prior to booking via app again.
Great shape late in year
Really good shape given it is first week of October. They had aerated and sanded the greens the day before, but that is understandable this point in the year. Fairways and tee really looked great given all the play we have had this season. Very few spots that looked a little worn, bit again that is to be expected for a busy public course.
Great round of golf
The pace of play was great. This is one of my favorite courses and they did not let me down. The fairways were wonderful along with the tee boxes and greens. The grounds keepers had even raked the bunkers and they were in fantastic condition, even without rakes. The course layout is to my liking, so it was nice that my friend and I both played well. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone.
Poor tee time management
Played an outing on the date listed. Started at around 8:40 am as the last group in the outing. Around the turn, we were told we needed to pick up the pace, even though we had to wait on the group ahead of us. At that point we were 2 hour 10 minutes in before hole 10. The ranger was actually scolding us for slow play. Turns out, they scheduled a high school outing after us. Around hole 15/16, we started to meet some of the kids that were playing. Finished 17 and driving up to 18, the ranger stopped us and said we couldn't play 18 because the kids needed to start. This was the 4 hours 15 minute point. They couldn't wait 10 minutes so we can finish the last hole. Pretty much made our outing a moot point. The ranger was rude and needs to go. The staff only compensated with a 9 hole voucher for future use. Port golf management all around. Last time I played this course was 2015, we had to wait about 30 minutes to get a cart. Perhaps it's better to let the county make it a park because it needs an overhaul of some type.
Fun course/great staff
Staff goes out of the way to provide excellent service. About 30 min before our round it poured rain. We started cart path only and the apologetic staff promised that with no further rain that would change. Sure enough by the time we finished the 1st nine the marshal tracked us down to let us know conditions changed to "90 deg". Appreciated them going above and beyond.
