One of the best around!
Very difficult links course. Everything was really maintained and even though 75$ is always a lot to pay it is worth it. Friendly staff and nice all around place. Wish there was more deals under 50 on weekends so I could play there more because of how much I loved it!!
challenging greens............
course is not overly long putting a premium on short game and putting. hilly greens can lead to many 3 putts but to me that is part of the fun.........not many courses will have greens sloped this much. 600 yard par 5 requires 3 great shots just to reach......last 250 yards are uphill. always enoy playing here ,,,,a good variety of holes and the greens make it fun and enjoyable.
For me...just doesn't feel like golf.
Played again yesterday (5/18/13) for the third time and went in thinking the course would grow on me - just the opposite. There are only a handful of holes on the course that I like. The rest, well, up for grabs. Houses abound and for the experience of a round, that never appeals to me when I feel like I'm in a hallway of houses and backyards. They are in play/in view on every hole just about. Many uneven lies and can be penalized for even hitting good shots with bumps, berms, and blind shots all over. Don't even get me started about the greens there (tremendously unfair and extreme with seemingly random undulations) and hole 11. Conditions were not very good with lots of bare spots, spotty rough, crab grass in the fiarways, mounds of dirt, ground under repair, and drainage rivulets all over. For a new course some places look like they've been there for years and left to the elements and disrepair. For the area and price there are way better options, but will say it's hard course and has the yardage to not always be a driver/wedge course - which is the only appealing aspect of this place. Love a healthy yardage course. Will leave it with this...just look at the driving range. Not flat and can't calculate your shot distance. One hits into a hill, bumps, and berms. Not a great way to warm up. Great staff though and a nice clubhouse. I would play it once for a newbie, but is without a doubt a love it or leave it 18. For me...I'll leave it.
Strange course but well maintained
This course is a little bizarre. It's challenging the way a putt-putt golf course would be considered challenging. Bunkers in the middle of what would be a normal landing area off the tee on a par 5 and mulch pathways from the cart path to the green on a par three that are hidden between hills are a couple of examples of things you will find here that will leave you scratching your head.
The greens are in good shape but are extremely hilly. Pin placement was challenging, boderline cruel. You cannot lag a putt and leave yourself within 2 feet, they roll down one of many slopes on the green. If you first putt isn't in the hole, it will probably be a three-putt for you.
My threesome was behind an extremely slow foursome and a rather rude twosome than continually hit into us even though it was clear we were waiting on the group ahead of us. The course marshall was not able to get either group to change how they were playing to make the experience more pleasant.
I haven't played many courses that are in better condition this time of year (May) but to sat I have seen better designed courses is an understatement.
Nice Staff, Nice Course
First time playing Lederach. Our foursome was one of the first groups out so our pace was was solid. Course was in very good condition and the staff was great. Will absolutely be adding this course to my rotation.
CHALLENGING GREENS/ NEED A RANGER
I PAID $49. TO PLAY HERE THANKS TO GOLFNOW. IT IS A FUN COURSE TO PLAY,HOWEVER THEY NEED TO HAVE A RANGER ON THE COURSE. THERE WAS A TWOSOME IN FRONT OF OUR FOURSOME THAT HELD US UP ALL DAY LONG.( YES, I SAID A TWOSOME) BESIDES THAT, I ENJOYED THE COURSE. YOU BETTER BE READY TO USE YOUR PUTTER ALOT BECAUSE THE GREENS WILL CHALLENGE YOUR PUTTING SKILLS. IF YOU DON'T LAND IN THE PERFECT SPOT ON THE GREEN GET READY TO 3 PUTT ALL DAY LONG.
PIN POSITIONS
Very nice layout...the(huge) greens can be a little silly at times but hit it close and they can be had.
Interesting Course
Teed off at 2 on a Sunday afternoon, finished at 7:30. Maybe the 5.5 hr round was the random 5-some a few groups in front of us. Maybe it was the fact that this course is a challenge for the average golfer. Or simply it could be due to the fact that it was a nice day and the course was extremely crowded. Whatever the reason was it surely tested my patience. I think on almost every hole we were on the next tee before the group in front of us had teed off.
So if you have a little more patience than I do I would actually recommend this course. The greens were aerated a short time ago so they were slower than I would assume they usually are. This might have been a good thing since these greens have some of the biggest slopes in them that I've ever seen. The rest of the course was in above average for still being April.
Overall I would say the $50 we paid was a good value for this course, just think twice about making plans afterwards if you choose to play here.
Really nice course
This is the best public course in Montgomery county. It seems wide open, but it's length, bunker placement and greens make it a challenging gem.
Great course for all skill levels
This was an excellent course and well maintained. The course provides great experience. Fairways and greens in great shape. The long par 4's and par 5's presented the best challenge. Really loved the dog legs and par 3's. staff was there immediately to meet you to get bags and place in the cart. I recommend this course fit players of any level.
Course is great, always look forward to playing it.
The course was in great shape. Really enjoyed the round and looking forward to playing it again.
very fun course.
We were greeted in the parking lot and having bags loaded for us, very nice. I loved the rolling fairways and jumbo sized greens. One of the few 7000 yard courses when played from tips. My only request would be to add more bunkers to make the course more challenging.
Great golf course
Great golf course with really friendly staff. Rates can be a little high if you don't use golf now but 35$ is a must play in the Philly area if you can find it.
Solid course with some stupid greens.
Fun course with some very interesting holes including the 640 yard, uphill par 5 on the back that is longer than it needs to be and a few ridiculous greens that make for stupid pin positions but other than that always a solid course in good condition.
great course needs some maintenance
great course and I think once the season is in full swing the course will be in better shape but right now there were very fast greens, which is great, but a lot of soggy areas surrounded by burned out areas. I'll chalk it up to beginning of the season.
course is tough but fair if you put the ball in right places, if not it could be a long day
course plays a lot longer then it seems with all the elevation changes, the undulations on the greens makes it tough to putt if your not in the right spots
Overcrowded, Lack of carts.
Course is nice condition for a public course. Pace of play was atrocious, They'd overbooked tee times, and jammed way to many people onto the course, as a result despite our 1:00pm Tee time we couldn't finish before it got too dark. Took us about 3.5hr to finish 11 holes. We also didn't get our cart until we were on the 3rd hole (they were kind enough to bring it out...)
Overall not bad, but the fact that we were unable to finish round and the crowding left me disappointed.
nice facility.... challenging golf
have been playing here since it opened... Lederach is tough and a challenge for any top player.. The greens are enormous on many holes and as undulating as you'll find. They do tend to be kind of slow which is hard to get used to.. You'll find some very extreme greens like the 8th and 18th that will leave you muttering.
Speaking of extreme... by playing here.. you'll experience the longest par 5 in the area.. the brutal uphill 12th.. This baby plays like its 700 yds from the back tees. Top players .. driver,, 3 wood.. 5-6 iron.. to a green that is so uphill you cant see the flag.. The uphill 14th hole par 3.. is a long heroic shot that intimidates most players.. All in all its a great place to play..
Nice Course
The course was nicely maintained. It was a fun layout to play...challenging, but not impossible. I'd recommend trying this course. Great place to book on Golfnow as it is a little expensive, but worth playing.
One of the best public courses in the area
Well maintained course, but not too difficult. Greens are stupid hard at times, course is wide open. If you hit long and straight, you will be in good shape.
