Solitude Links Golf Course & Banquet Center
        About
Solitude Links Golf Course & Banquet Center in Kimball is one of southeastern Michigan’s premier courses. Golfers from the Detroit metropolitan area and Port Huron and even as far as London in Ontario, Canada flock to the golf course. The layout is spread across gently rolling terrain with both woodlands and wetlands, providing a diverse mix of holes. The greens are large and fast with some mild undulation, some are even ridged or double-tiered, but good shots will be rewarded with level putting surfaces. The tricky opening hole is unique in that there are two greens, which makes it so that it can be played as a par 4 or a more daunting par 5 that plays over water. The challenging island green makes Solitude Links' par-4 eighth another memorable hole. Though you may get a break from the water on the back nine, at least on four holes, sand then becomes a more prominent hazard.

Worst customer experience EVER!!!
The attendant was NASTY!! Let me begin by stating that I have a 4.1 handicap index and I’ve played 218 courses across the USA so I’m not just your average weekend hack. Our tee was at 12:24 p.m. , so we go into the pro shop around 11:55 a.m. or so and notice that there wasn’t anyone in there, just a loud computer playing the Michigan/Ohio State game. So we wait for about 3-4 minutes until we left and went to the first tee because we paid online. So the attendant walks by me and says, oh I see we’re gonna have this out here today! At first I didn’t realize he was talking about us but when he walk back by he says abruptly, did you go inside? We both say yes we did but there wasn’t anyone in there, so he says even nastier, we’ll you should’ve waited and without allowing us to answer says , so you weren’t gonna pay?And we said that we paid online. Then he says why are you on the tee 20 minutes before your tee time, I say I’m sorry but would you rather we be late! As we’re following him inside he continues to be RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL and then ask what our tee time was ( if we paid online that was clue number one that we already had a tee time) and we both stated 12:24 p.m. . Once we’re inside he then ask if we’re Harris and Jackson and we both said yes, he says we’ll you’re going to play with two other guys and walks out the door to go and get them, comes back inside as we’re waiting there and says that’s them out on the putting green. So we exit the pro shop and try and gather ourselves before we introduce ourselves to our pairing mates. We’ve played at Solitude since the days that it was called Four Lakes but this guys attitude was the most DEPLORABLE that I’ve EVER witnessed on a golf course! The DISRESPECT was so bad that we vowed to NEVER ever play this course again and we will let our playing partners know the horrible service that we received and have them spread the word about the course as well.
Must be accurate off the tee.
You must be accurate off the tee to hit the narrow fairways. If you miss any fairway then you will likely find heather or dunk it in a water hazard. Also, 3 of the 4 par threes are around 200 yards or more. It's a challenging course and I was digging in the bag more than a few times for balls.
This is a nice course and in great shape but because of the super tight conditions I'll have to improve my game before attempting another round here.
Best all around course in the area
No matter if I’m playing my best or worst, the course is good to me. Just challenging enough for the average golfer.
Amazing
Find a good deal on a time to go it’s worth it. GPS on the carts, nice bar, good food, we left our speaker on a cart and the young kid that runs the show ran it to us on the second tee. Worth the drive every time.
Tee times
Pace of play and tight tee times are rough. Last two times golfing my group is ready to tee off on time and there's been 2 groups still on our tee box. Took 5 hours to golf 18 holes with only 2 people
A lot of fun
The course is difficult if you spray or don’t have your A game. We did get behind a slower group and the ranger did move them along to help with pace of play. It was a great round all in all day too.
Grass Clippings All over
Paying nearly $70 to play a course that they say is in great shape, the cups were chewed and beat up especially for a Sunday 10am round. Biggest thing for me is that the guys cutting the greens were dumping piles of grass clippings and plugs all over the surrounding collar of the greens. Course setup poor. One last comment, cutting a cup 3 feet from the edge of the green shows the ignorance of the grounds staff.
Web Price and Actual Paid Price Differ (Multiple Times)
This course is charging more than what you reserve the tee time for online. Always the same guy in the clubhouse stating that the rate is more than what your reservation says. He knows that if you drove all that way, paying 5 or 10 dollars more than what you thought it not going to turn most people away. So he knows that raising the price at the counter is just putting money into their pocket.
Other than he terrible behavior, I have no issues about this course at all.
If you can actually PAY online and not have to pay at the pro shop, that would be the only way I would come close to taking a chance to go there.
Too bad, its a nice course, just the pro shop dude needs to go.
