About
Nestled in a quiet residential community, Shale Creek Golf Club sprawls across land that for a century prior had been the Gunkelman Farm. The course repurposes the rolling terrain into a challenging layout. The subtle changes in elevation make for some tricky lies. There are also many streams that meander through the golf course before cascading into the nearby Rocky River. The river even comes into play from the 10th to the 15th holes. The golf course features large, undulating greens and wide fairways. Water has a dominant presence on the course but the final holes showcase more traditional Ohio terrain with wooded, gently rolling hills though you'll still have plenty of water to contend with on these holes. Shale Creek Golf Club requires accuracy and it will make you think, but it's not too difficult for a beginner to enjoy.

Fun Time
Club house was clean, and the carts have GPS onboard. The cart paths are smooth, not much to complain about. You even get complimentary use of the driving range. If you're looking for a good place to golf try it out.

One of the best courses
Every time we come here we have a great time. From having your bags put into cart, nice practice area to great course and finish up with great food, total experience is 1st class.

Favorite course in the area !
I love this course. Great layout, very challenging but fair. Always in good shape but sometimes the greens have a lot of ball marks. People should repair them obviously but the course could do a little better job at fixing them. That is nit-picking though. LOVE everything about Shale. Some deals can be found or it can be pricey.

Beautiful Course
Shale Creel is a beautiful course and that is why we bought a house on the course. It is kept in pristine condition and is challenging enough. My only complaints are that is it rather expensive and residents of Shale Creek get very few benefits. Clubhouse is beautiful and Deb runs a great restaurant.
My favorite area course
Shale Creek is my favorite course in the area. The conditions are great, Great layout and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I have two minor complaints. One is that it seems there are a ton of ball marks on the greens. I know golfers should be repairing their marks but for some reason the don't here and the course should keep up with it. Second, I think regular rates are overpriced. You can find some deals and they are in Tee Time Golf Pass which makes it a great deal, but I think the regular rate needn't be that high. However as I said, those are minor complaints, I LOVE Shale Creek and will continue to play here.

Perfect condition
Everything about this course is in great condition. Surprisingly not many leaves on the course for the middle of October and the greens were in top condition.

Nice layout. Challenge from all tees
Played Shale many times, from the whites to the tips. Requires a nice mix of shots. Facilities well maintained, from range to course to the lockers and restaurant.Solon

Can’t believe it took me so long to play here! I almost never write reviews, but this course was so amazing I just had to let everyone know. Set up wonderfully, staff friendly and helpful, cart GPS worked well, and unbelievably manicured. Can’t wait to play here again

Overall nice course
Overall nice course. Good variety of holes. Will need to use most clubs in your bag. Some of the greens had significant scraping from mowers.

Slow play
Love the course unfortunately for us the only other two people we seen were in front of us and extremely slow back and forth on fairway at one point decided to just skip hole but then went back and just dealt with it also spent extreme amount on green and kneeling could see there knee indentations when on green Not really a reflection of course or staff maybe others will see and maybe pass along some golf etiquette. Amateur here also but know when to let someone play through

It's been better
Conditions have gotten worse this year. A nice layout. Staff is friendly enough. You normally pay a premium to play here, so the conditions should be better.
