Shale Creek Golf Club

Still nice layout, varied holes, but greens and tee boxes are a bit beat up already by August- a reminder for players to fix their divots. The staff are very obliging and amenities are what one can expect from an upscale semi- private club.

So from the pictures online, and the price I thought this course was going to be epic. Family was in from out of town and I chose this one which was a bit of a drive being from Akron. We paid $60 each and it was not worth it at all.. you have to drive a mile between holes through houses which is annoying. The greens were quick but holes looked liked they hadn't been cut for 2-3 days. To be realistic this is worth $35 max to the every day golfer- nothing memorable. We should have just stayed and played a local course for half the price. Sorry to hate, I usually don't but this just didn't live up to expectations.

Parts of the fairway have way too many divots compared to normal, the greens also had more than should be ended up fixing a couple on almost every hole, much of the grass had died in both the fringe and the green but overall still better than the majority of courses. Staff always wonderful

The greens were pretty beaten up.

There was no ranger to move the slow 4-some in front of us along (while they could barely walk, they were very slowly putting for millions of dollars).

And, the bar area was closed.

Always enjoy playing this course. Although it did rain heavily for a brief period of time, the course drains very well!

From the complimentary range balls to the manicured fairways everything about this course is top shelf. Winds through a community which isn’t my favorite way to play golf , but many open fairways that are forgiving, great conditions, very challenging.

Went on a windy, wet day. Course dried out nicely. Greens were in really good shape and some of the best fairways I have played. GPS in carts, great clubhouse with great patio for after or before round, range balls included. What a great course and value.

Shale is a must play. It’s long, challenging, always in excellent condition and in an area where wind is always a factor. I could play it every day and never be tired of it.

Starter was great. Pro shop staff not having a good day. Course condition excellent. Pace of play poor on front but improved as a group dropped out on back nine as players not up to challenge of course.

Club house was clean, and the carts have GPS onboard. The cart paths are smooth, not much to complain about. You even get complimentary use of the driving range. If you're looking for a good place to golf try it out.

Every time we come here we have a great time. From having your bags put into cart, nice practice area to great course and finish up with great food, total experience is 1st class.

I love this course. Great layout, very challenging but fair. Always in good shape but sometimes the greens have a lot of ball marks. People should repair them obviously but the course could do a little better job at fixing them. That is nit-picking though. LOVE everything about Shale. Some deals can be found or it can be pricey.

Shale Creel is a beautiful course and that is why we bought a house on the course. It is kept in pristine condition and is challenging enough. My only complaints are that is it rather expensive and residents of Shale Creek get very few benefits. Clubhouse is beautiful and Deb runs a great restaurant.

Shale Creek is my favorite course in the area. The conditions are great, Great layout and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I have two minor complaints. One is that it seems there are a ton of ball marks on the greens. I know golfers should be repairing their marks but for some reason the don't here and the course should keep up with it. Second, I think regular rates are overpriced. You can find some deals and they are in Tee Time Golf Pass which makes it a great deal, but I think the regular rate needn't be that high. However as I said, those are minor complaints, I LOVE Shale Creek and will continue to play here.
