About
The Legends of Massillon consistently ranks as one of the top public golf courses in Ohio. The club has 27 holes of championship golf that is divided into three different nines called East, North, and South. The nines can be played in different 18-hole combinations though they all share heavy smattering of bunkers and water hazards. More than 80 bunkers are strategically placed throughout the 27 holes and water comes into play on 22 of them. Originally opened as an 18-hole golf course, another nine holes were added. Each nine consists of six holes from the original course and three new ones. The South/North combination has greens that are large and inviting and there are four different sets of tees. Players of all skill levels will find a round that suits them.

Fun day of golf.
The good: Super friendly staff, nice short game area, decent driving range, perfectly quick greens. Pace of play was good for a saturday eve. 4 hr round on south/east
The bad: A lot of greens are a bit patchy right now. A lot of the sand bunkers have stones in them. The par 3 on #4 on the south course has a large portion of a tree blocking the shot from the womens tee. Its not even fair. Cart paths are pretty rough. I wasnt a big fan of all the jumping around the course to get to different holes, but they do have everything marked great so you know where to go.
Some kids had a stand outside their house with a bunch of used balls for 50 cents a piece. We picked out about 20 pro v and pro v1x balls. Best 10 bucks ive spent on a golf course this year!

New "Starter" needed
Once again the starter sends group after group to the 1st tee on the north course. Only this time he must have gotten enough negative feedback that he drove down to the 1st tee and saw it backed up so much that he sent us off on the south. He claimed that he couldn't understand how it got so backed up... yet he is the guy that sent group after group to start on the north course.
It should be noted that when I first asked if we could tee off on the east or south, he said no, even though no one was on the 1st tee box on either course.
That starter should be promoted to a position where he can't ruin golf for Legends of Massillon patrons.

Pin Placement Procedure
I've enjoyed playing at Legends. Recently moved to area and have played on Wednesday and Thursday most of the summer. Staff is friendly and helpful, and enjoyed making new golf friends.
One area to improve is procedure for pin placement. Legends follow a front-middle-back process like most golf courses in the area, and are easily identifiable by black (front), white (middle) and orange (back) flags. The issue is pin placement rotation repeats to same front-middle-back locations every Wednesday and Thursday. That is, the flag on each of the 27 greens is the same front location, middle location or back location every Wednesday and Thursday. For example, #8 South is always a front (black) flag on Wednesday and Thursday. It would be wonderful to have a rotation that changes front-middle-back locations.

Nice course, good value
Played the East and the North. East was bogged down by a group of 3 playing slow, taking lots of time between shots. Had the North pretty much to myself, so that was nice. Conditions of fairways and greens were very good. I like playing here.

Good place when the t-time are open
Crowded early start but once we got open. It was a great day. Course is very lush. Very long challenging holes. Lots of beach n water.

Nice course
Although we have not had a lot of rain the tee boxes, fairways and greens are in good shape. Great place to practice very nice chipping green, putting green and driving range.

A great course, but the starter should be put out to pasture.
We were told to start on the north course and to finish on the east course. I asked if we could play the east or south first and he said no and that it would screw things up at the turn. So we went to the north course and found a 4-some in the fairway and two 1-somes waiting. Our 4-some got in line. Before a 1 some teed off a 3 some appeared. Before we teed off two more groups appeared. The starter sent 7 groups to the first tee on the North course in a 10 minute period. In addition to being ill-equipped to be an effective starter, he was a grumpy guy that should find another part-time gig.

Legends North Course
I find the course challenging and rewarding - it allows you to drive the ball and has ample space to accommodate your drive without being too tight! I am able to score on the North course and it is very competitive. Cart paths are in need of repair, but fairways and greens are in good shape for mid-summer!

One of the best in stark county
I’ll keep it brief. Played from the tips. It was challenging but not annoying. Courses was busy that day so the pace was what seemed to be “slow”. Wasn’t bad by my standard but the ranger came out and check in with me and I’m assuming most of the groups out there to reinforce keeping pace. In my case We had a good quick conversation about the course. Guy was super nice. And went about my round and completed 18 in about 4.5 hours. Course was well kept and fun to play

Always Great
Legends always offers great golf. The layout on all 3 sides can be challenging from the tips but it’s always fun. You’ll need to be able to turn your ball every direction to score well. The East course is my favorite.
