Wow
I had heard the course had declined since my last round there. I was totally shocked at the condition. Honestly it’s sad because the course layout is wonderful. Hopefully they can get it back in shape. Not worth the price right now.
The greens are horrible
You’re basically putting on dirt. Every other part of the course was relatively nice, the greens were the worst I’ve ever seen however. $30 for 18 isn’t terrible though considering it was probably cheaper because the greens were so bad.
Worst condition I have ever seen
The layout was decent but there was nearly zero grass on the greens to the point you couldn’t putt. If there was grass your ball would just zig zag because it was spotty and had weeds. If they actually maintained it I could see it being fun but for $50 I would never play it again. I’ve never left a bad review and I feel bad because the lady inside was very friendly but it was very disappointing
Met expectations
Let me start by saying I had read the most recent reviews, so my expectations were pretty realistic. The layout and pace of play were great. Otherwise....the greens are in very poor conditions and the fairways need a lot of work. Its a shame to call this a "country club" as I have played many muni courses in much better conditions. The course needs a ALOT of TLC - hope for the best, but for for now - if you take your golf seriously - play someplace else!
40 years of playing golf, the worst conditions I have ever seen
Greens terrible, poa / weeds on all the greeds except 2.. Can’t roll the ball straight, $50 is a joke for the conditions of this course. Go anywhere else save your $.
Did management give up?
I have never left a review before on a golf course. I’ve been coming to this course for many years, and it was always in good shape.
I have no idea what happened to this course. It’s almost as if new management quit trying. There has clearly been no maintenance in the past 6 months.
To put it simply, this is currently the worst course I have ever seen in my life. Not one aspect is even playable, from tee boxes fair ways, greens are some combination of dirt, rotted crab grass.
It’s a shame. I was flabbergasted the entire round. This course better figure something out or they simply may be forced to foreclose
AVOID THIS COURSE
Arguably one of the worst course conditions I have ever seen. Tee boxes are awful, fairways are sand traps, greens are non existent & full of sand. This course wouldn't be worth playing if it was 10 dollars. Please save your money and play elsewhere.
Terrible
Imagine it is a beautiful day outside and you are thinking it would be a great day to play 18. You get a hot deal tee time in golf now and have been looking forward to this day spent on the links with your friends. Upon arrival, we were treated with exceptional service and a decent deal on 5 sleeves of balls. However, things would not continue to go our way. As we approached hole one we noticed that there seemed to be an abnormally large sand trap near the pin. To our surprise this was in fact, the green(or white). One in our situation would find themselves immediately disappointed and ready to storm the clubhouse demanding for a refund. But, that is not who we are. We gave this course the benefit of the doubt and discussed as a group the ways in which we can adapt to this misfortune. As we played, there was no way that we could maintain our initial upbeat and excited attitudes. Not a single putt rolled true and each fairway was worse than the last. All in all we will never utter the words lake city country club ever again unless the word is associated with disappointment. Cheers.
Do not pay to play here
The pictures on GolfNow isn’t even of this course! Worst course conditions in the state of Florida.
Course condition
The course conditions were in pretty bad shape. It looks like they have not kept up with maintenance on it at all in a very long time. This is a shame because I used to come here all the time to go golfing and never had any issues with the course maintenance, even the walkway up to the par. 3 on hole number seven is all overgrown like crazy up the greens are all rotted out. Not good at all
This used to be one of my favorite courses to play but I haven't been there in about a year and it definitely looks like they have not been keeping up with it at all.
And I actually paid more this time to play than I did a year ago and a year ago the greens were in great condition.
Hopefully they can get it under control because it is a nice course if they can get it back to the way it used to be.
Course under repair
Course is currently undergoing irrigation system repairs. Upon checking in the staff informed us of the repairs that the repairs were taking place but this would have been nice to know before Driving 2hrs to the course.
