Hard Rock Golf Club Riviera Maya

About
The Hard Rock Golf Club Riviera Maya (formerly known as The Golf Club at Playacar) offers the perfect combination of natural beauty and the work of man. This magnificient golf course, carved out of the dense Mayan Jungle is only a few hundred yards away from the crystal-clear, turquoise ocean and the fine white sands of the Mexican Caribbean Sea.
The intelligent architectural design of the golf course has converted Playa del Carmen into one of the most popular tourism destinations in all of Mexico.

Great course. Terrible customer service!
Course was in great condition. Tough but fair. Windy conditions made it even more difficult. No one was there to carry clubs from bag drop-off or when round finished. No one there when we finished our round to wipe down clubs or anything. All inclusive didn't include water bottles or Gatorade bottles. Sandwiches make lunch room sandwiches seem gourmet. Seems as if they don't care.
Just have fun with it.
First of all if you have an early tee time get there really early. Had a 7:25 tee time got there about 6:45 and line up out the door. Considering we were probably the 3rd tee time that is ridiculous people there for the free breakfast with 8 and 9 tee off times first come first serve. Got to the starter at 7:21 no time to warm up, oh well. Course itself in nice shape but very tight and the greens are as small as I've ever played on other than executive courses. This is more a target golf course not grip it and rip it. If you are hitting it straight you can score if not bring lots of balls. Overall for me a really fun challenge, staff are friendly and accommodating. Bring your A game if not just have fun on a really nice course and drink your bad shots away....
Course is fun to play, but hard.Well maintained, nothing negative to say about the course.
I didn't pay 150$US like a lots of players I played with during the month I was in PDC, but I think that when you ask that kind of money for a round of golf you could at least furnish quality practice balls and cart with safety break that work. In Arizona you have a cart with GPS and Pyramids of quality practice balls on the range.
Great value
Tough course with beautiful scenic views of the local surroundings and wildlife. Great value for your money as mostly every thing is included. Pace of play is kinda slow and I went off at 7am. But, you're golfing in February in beautiful weather. So, not much you complain about. Enjoy your round and bring some acts balls as fairways are right.
Tee off by your habilities
We were following a father with is 2 beginners sons!
He was making them tee off from purple... this is not acceptable. They lost so many balls and kept looking for those forever. Re-teeing ...
At some point we were 4 foursomes at a hole waiting!
Staff didn't say anything.
Staff was friendly!
Course was nice!
I would open driving range earlier than 7h30am so we can hit some balls before first tee off.
It was a hard course!
I really enjoyed playing at this course. It's a hard one. So much bunkers... I played 10 over my regular average at home! Happy...
Be patient, the pace was aweful... so slow!!! You loose the momentum, the energy of a good rythm.
Course is great, the rest need a little love and attention
I played 3 times during the last 2 weeks at this course. Because of Golf now I had great deals, but I played with people who paid 160$ and over 200$. All included they say. The food in the clubhouse is ok but the beer cart carries only crap.. Practice balls included they say...Yes about 20 balls included, you have to negociate a lot with the starter to have a little more..And you can only practice 1/2 hr before your tee time..First time i see that..Once my cart had no parking brakes...I think you understand what I mean. If you pay 160$ US in the USA, Arizona by exemple, you will have much more service, a golf cart wiht gps etc. I will play again ther because the course is a good challenge and well maintained. But too expensive for waht you get.
Good experience
Played at the Hard Rock in early Feb. enjoyed the course except for the rainforest lining the course (hard to recover a ball)! The staff was helpful and friendly. The greens fees included food and beverages. Great value for the price!
Tough Course
The course was in good shape, pace of play was good. One complaint is the tee off was delayed due to a lack of power carts!
A play factory
A way overpriced golf experience. Course is good - not great; however conditions were very disappointing given the price we paid. Greens were fast but awful. Lots of barren spots; you can see the course is overplayed. Flags are a joke. We had a 1:05 tee time (twilight starts at 1:00) but got caught in a downpour after three holes and had to sit under a tree for almost an hour. Phoned the pro shop about a rain check and was told that because we had a twilight tee time we could only get a rain-check for 9 holes. So we decided to play out. At 5:30 (this is an hour and a half before sunset) marshall came out and told us we had to get off the golf course because they close at 5:30pm. What a joke. We did finish though as we were hitting into 18 any way.
The one good thing about this place that it is all inclusive. So if you like to eat and drink a lot this might be for you. Also, if you stay in Playa the course is just a quick taxi ride - 150 pesos from downtown.
I would play again for maybe $50 but thats it. I got a "hot deal" through GolfNow at $130 but its not worth it. Rather go to PGA Riviera Maya (Tulum Country Club), pay the same, maybe pay for the extras but enjoy a much better golf course.
