What are the top public golf courses in Mexico?
It depends who you ask. In the case of GolfPass' annual Golfers Choice ranking lists, you are the expert, along with thousands of your fellow golfers.
We compile our annual Golfers' Choice lists by analyzing the ratings and reviews submitted by members of our community - golfers like you - throughout the previous year. We use GolfPass' Ratings Index logic that weights newer reviews and combine it with a course's subcategory averages. Courses must offer public access and have received at least two reviews in 2023 to be eligible for this year's list. If you want to play any of these courses, hover your browser over the course photo and if tee times are available, you can click to book directly.

Vista Vallarta - Weiskopf Course
Puerto Vallarta, JaliscoPublicGreen fee: $212-$265
What they're saying: "Beautiful scenery and layout. Played mid afternoon with some cloud cover. No one in front of us." - RThomaselli1 -
Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club
San Jose del Cabo, Los CabosResortGreen fee: $270-$350
What they're saying: "From the moment we pulled up the staff were so friendly. The driving range was stocked with balls. The cart was clean. The starter, Peter, was very nice. We played the Mission/Vista courses and they were in very good shape. Food and drinks at palapas were tasty (bring some cash for tips). Pace always slows on Vista course due to difficulty and quirkiness, but still finished (in) just after 4 hours. Well worth the hot deal time price we paid." - thayward619 -
The Golf Course at Vidanta Acapulco
Green fee: $150+
What they're saying: "Decent beach holiday course. Maintenance is lacking. Should have annual memberships to spend revenues in course maintenance." - alexandergoyen -
Solmar Golf Links
Green fee: $390
What they're saying: "This is the place in Cabo you want to play! Only Puerto l
Los Cabos is in the same league. Excellent practice facilities. Dramatic design without being crazy hard. Excellent condition on fairways and greens. The (free) food isn't great but that's not what we're here for." - obront -
Riviera Cancun Golf Club
Green fee: $145-$179
What they're saying: "Had a great experience golfing here with some family. Challenging fairways and greens. There is lots of water and wildlife. Tee time came with transportation, food and drink. Arrange with your hotel a day before you play. Definitely stick up on golf balls in the states. Little pricey at the pro shop." - fnaujokas -
Vista Vallarta - Nicklaus Course
Puerto Vallarta, JaliscoPublicGreen fee: $212-$265
What they're saying: "Loved this challenging course in the hills above the city of Puerto Vallarta. Well maintained. Friendly staff. This is not a course for beginners. Take a caddie with you if you are playing the Nicklaus course for the first time. It's well worth it." - Bootsieyvr -
Vidanta Vallarta Course at Vidanta Nuevo Nayarit-Vallarta
Nuevo Vallarta, NayaritPublic/ResortGreen fee: $125-$180
What they're saying: "The course was in great condition. Some tee boxes were moved to let the course get ready for the Mexican Open in February. But it did not matter, the open tee boxes were immaculate. Francisco (Pancho), my caddie, made the round so much fun and he really helped by guiding me around a course and the greens that I had never played before. He made the whole experience worth it! Thanks, Pancho!" - mrdscons -
The Nicklaus Design Course at Vidanta Puerto Penasco
Puerto Peñasco, SonoraResortGreen fee: $55-$105
What they're saying: "It’s out of the way but well worth the trip. Maybe the best layout I’ve ever played. Challenging with the windy conditions but (it's) fun making shots. Greens have a lot of slope and were in excellent condition. Beautiful views along the water. You really don’t see any other holes except the one you are playing. Wildlife was abundant. Staff was so nice. I’d play this every day if I could." - brackj -
TPC Danzante Bay
Green fee: $210+
What they're saying: "This course is probably the best I have played. Some fairways were developing some bare spots which weren’t there last year. Course was overpriced as evident by the lack of people playing it. Will probably not golf this again unless prices change." - gbneilsen -
Puerto Cancun Golf Course
Green fee: $260-$280
What they're saying: "Played this course after playing Riviera Cancun, and it's day and night difference - this is so much better. Staff are friendly and flexible, and play pace is so much better. Driving range is close to the proshop. Their Mango Ice Salad is the best thing for a hot summer round of golf. We ended up ordering two." - Lilemon -
Palmilla Golf Club
San Jose del Cabo, Baja CaliforniaPublicGreen fee: $240-$325
What they're saying: "Course in very good condition but seems like a fair amount of construction around it. I assume the clubhouse is being built. The range was in lousy shape which seems crazy given the cost to play." - gpusey -
Riviera Maya Golf Club
Akumal, TulumPrivate/ResortGreen fee: $160-$190
What they're saying: "Really nice course in great condition. Very pretty with a variety of holes, but it was not too tough which made it fun. It was beautiful with a variety of holes including some with cenotes as well as lakes. Lots of wildlife around as well. Greens were in great shape as well as the fairways." - GolfPass reviewer -
Club Campestre San Jose
Green fee: $165-$220
What they're saying: "The pace of play was excellent and conditions were very good. Challenging layout added to an enjoyable round." - 1FredHayes -
Hard Rock Golf Club Riviera Maya
Playa del Carmen, Quintana RooResortGreen fee: $180-$250
What they're saying: "The course is in great condition, fairways, rough and greens. Service staff are all very friendly and helpful and the cart guys make sure you are well looked after. Overall, a nice round." - HamishMacleod -
The Links at Las Palomas Resort Golf Club
Puerto Peñasco, SonoraSemi-Private/ResortGreen fee: $43-$75
What they're saying: "First thing I noticed coming to this course was the brown grass throughout the fairways. Turns out somebody watered with salt water. At least that’s what I was told. That did not ruin the day though, the greens were in pretty good shape, medium speed, and not too bumpy. The layout is interesting and longish, we played from blues, and even with a good tee shot there were some challenging second and third shots. It was my first time here, but I would play it again as it was a reasonable price for golf in Mexico." - varzola -
Nayar Golf Course at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta
Nuevo Vallarta, NayaritPublic/ResortWhat they're saying: "Unfortunately the back 9 was closed so I played the front 9 twice. Was happy with the course and my caddie was awesome (thanks Hector). I had a little trouble finding the entrance to the course. Give yourself extra time as it's a 2-km drive from the entrance and then you need to be shuttled to the pro shop and then take the cart another 10 minutes to the course." - johnmartinolich
-
El Tigre Golf and Country Club
Green fee: $245-$399
What they're saying: "Great course with challenging holes. Surrounded by a lot of water and sand. Great scenery. Came with complimentary range balls, tees and water which is nice. I would recommend buying your balls at a store before you come here. They also sell used balls for a cheaper price. We rented our clubs as well for $50 each but we are members of paradise village." - christian24gutierrez -
Marina Vallarta Golf Course
Green fee: $91-$169
What they're saying: "Post hurricane? Course fairways and greens were in great shape. Lots of fallen trees. Club lowered price to adjust for what had happened. Cart paths are in poor condition, restrooms were clean and rental clubs were acceptable for the price. Helpful staff everywhere." - Homesites -
Baja Country Club
Green fee: $57
What they're saying: "Wonderful course that is a gem with a nice layout (that is) nature's gift to any golf lover. The staff goes out of their way to make your experience special. We were stopped at the gate because we forgot my phone in the cart and returned to pick it up and received an extended hand with a great smile. If you love golf, you have to take in this course." - btabish -
Moon Spa and Golf Club
Green fee: $259-$310
What they're saying: "Played the Dunes and Jungle courses. Very nice and challenging while still enjoyable playing from the correct tees. A wide open course (both) with several difficult pin placements that I had to layup on. Even on some par 3’s. I will say it was fun. The greens were in good condition. The problem was the people ahead of us didn’t clean their shoes after leaving the bunkers and left shoe marks and pebbles on the greens. The only downside were the bunkers. The best description would be asphalt. Definitely a place to enjoy and I am going to play here again." - Covrguy2019 -
Cancun Country Club - El Tinto Golf Course
Green fee: $270
What they're saying: "Nice club. Don't come here looking for all the extra amenities though. The service was good, fairways and bunkers are excellent. The greens are grainy and somewhat bumpy, but acceptable. That said, I would definitely play here again." - golfboy01 -
Isla Navidad Country Club
Barra de Navidad, ColimaResortGreen fee: $232+
What they're saying: "Awesome experience, fabulous layout, ocean views, nicely manicured course." - weslyg2 -
Cabo Real
Green fee: $190-$260
What they're saying: "Course is challenging. Staff is always great and friendly. I was out of gas almost and one of the staff went to get gas for me as a courtesy. I will always play here and the sister courses. Course is a little dry, but that is expected. It’s hot, hot down here at the moment. Play early." - Primetimegolf -
Las Caras
What they're saying: "It's pretty cool to have a pga rated course in San Felipe. Beautiful views, challenging holes." - Susan6045733
-
Cabo San Lucas Country Club
Green fee: $155-$285
What they're saying: " The course is interesting with a good number of bunkers and several large water features but not particularly scenic. The tee-boxes and putting greens were in good shape but there were a number of dry/distressed spots in the fairways, probably because it was incredibly hot (ambient temps in the 90's that felt like over 100 in the sun). The staff couldn't have been nicer. They filled the cart cooler with ice and water at the start and at the turn and were happy to offer suggestions for things to do in the area." - JimClara
