About
Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

everything good...except...did you notice i didn't type SAND in front of traps....that's because there wasn't ANY...
The greens need some love
I try to give well rounded reviews, but I am partial to green conditions. If a course has great greens, I am likely to rate up, and vice versa. I was very disappointed at the amount of dead spots on the greens. Not just that, but on several of the holes, there was stuff like dried up flowers covering the greens. This, and the fact that the pace of play was extremely slow were major turn offs. There were 5 different groups all stacked up at the first tee waiting to play, and this was during the week!!! Bunkers could also use some love, but I am not going to hold that against the course. IF the pace of play improved, and the greens had some tender loving care, this course would be pretty good, but for now, I will play other courses
Sand Traps
I enjoyed the course with a couple of friends. But we all agreed the sand Traps needed lots of work. Also needs drinking water. We will be back. Thanks for an enjoyable round.
Always a great value
Played this course yesterday. Course conditions were good. Greens were in really good condition. Fairways are firm but still very playable. My only complaint is with the condition of the sand traps. They are always wet, muddy or packed rock hard. So much so that I never hit out them. Other then that it's one of my favorite local courses.

Great lay out, great condition
This course was very enjoyable, the track was great as was the condition. My only complaint is the greens were a little slow to my liking. Pace of play was good, but it should be on a Tuesday afternoon. I will definitely be back.

Good challenging course
Fairways and Greens in good shape. Bunkers needed some work. Good mix of short par 4's with club choices and long holes.

Great Course but Challenging
Very nice course, excellent staff but the course is very difficult for a below average golfer such as I am.

Up for a challenge?
I like Whitestone for the challenge. I've played a lot of courses and keep coming back to this one. Every time I play here I try new ways to improve and find new ways this course takes me down. Not giving up, just keep coming back.

Needs a lot of work
The tee boxes, greens and bunkers need a lot of attention. The cart girl needs to understand, she has to stop and wait for players to come off the green before she moves to the next hole. I almost passed out with no water and the coolers were empty. She also should be trained that she has to wait until we are finished taking our shots before she whizzes by.

Ok if you can play for under $20
Some of the greens were covered with divots and sand spots that made putting impossible to read and the bunkers were all solid mud.

Hopefully gets better
The course was in decent shape but the greens had a lot to be desired. They were very rough. Sand traps still had quite a bit of standing water in them from recent rains. Person on the Player Assist cart was very rude.

Terrible Greens
Unless you can play here for under $25 it's not really worth it because of the greens. They are basically littered with divot sized marks all over.

Grass
I've seen deserts with greenier grass than Whitestone, also they have lawn mowers running everywhere while your driving or putting

Greens And Bunkers Are Awful.
Bunkers were unplayable from mud and baseball sized rocks scattered throughout waiting to ding your irons... some greens were nearly unplayable as well with coffee can sized circles of dead grass that dropped a half inch into the green scattered everywhere.. making a putt was a shot in the dark.

Not bad for the money.
The greens need some work but over all a fun place to play. Easy course for terrible golfers like myself and my buddies. Nice bartenders too!!!! Ask for Autumn!!!!

Enjoyed playing Whitestone. Several greens not in good shape, but course in reasonable shape otherwise. Very good fairway lies made approach shots easier.

Greens rolled great......very thick, true to most of my reads, tee boxes were in fair condition - with all the rain it was easy to see tee grass was longer than normal. But the fairways were nicely manicured....
New carts....rode great, very comfortable....
