Fairways need work, but greens were great
Very challenging course for any handicapper. The fairways were pretty dry but rain has been scarce. Greens were fast and balls were holding when hit correctly. All the signs "beware of snakes" had me a little on edge.
Course needs attention
The course has a lot of potential but it is in bad shape at this time. Sand traps lack of sand and fairways lack of grass. Greens and tee boxes are ok but could be better.
Great Course
It's an amazing course for a relaxing 18 holes with friends/clients. I will definitely go again and recommend it to another. Not to mention, the amazing view of South Padre Island from several greens.
Course could be great
Course used to be real nice - average now. Needs water, and if you are going to have traps, there should be a little sand in them. Try to play after it rains
excellent golf course.....
great group golf experience, very challenging course.
This course needs attention
Course was in mediocre shape at best. Greens weren't watered and were lightning fast, but approach to greens were over watered on most holes and muddy for poor approach shots. Price was fair for the shape the course was in but wouldn't pay full price. Pretty close to South Padre so it worked out nicely. We have nicer munipal courses back home.
This course is :/ but has potential
Staff friendly, course in need of serious attention. No sand in sand traps, 15 miles away from the gulf and no sand.
Nice ocean view course in South Texas
This course has great views of the Bay and South Padre Island. The topography presents an interesting challenge given that this course is set right along the bayside of the Gulf of Mexico. The greens are in pretty good shape; however, I must say, the fairways and tee boxes have definitely been in much better condition in the past. Unfortunately, it is quite noticeable that this course has paid a severe price for the systemic drought conditions in South Texas. With that being said, however, for the price...it was a great time spent on the golf course with my young son.
Great course. Good speed on greens but could be smoother.
Definitely recommend this course and will play again.
Need to be a straight shooter
Good course, decent fairways, tough rough, fast greens. Decently maintained for a course in this area. Good place to go to get away from the beach and not drive an hour to the next course.
Fairways and greens in very good condition.
Average players hit outside the fairway quite often, once that happens on this course at least two out of five times the ball will be very difficult to find or will not be found at all due to the out of bound course conditions.
Good players should enjoy this beautiful course.
Nice course
Course conditions are usually windy and areas off the fairway are very difficult to play from.
The staff was very friendly and it wasn't that busy for a Sunday!
We arrived a little early, hit a few balls at the driving range, and then were able to tee off a little earlier that our tee time. We caught up with a foursome within a few holes that waved us through but we took the little extra time to enjoy each hole.
The fairways and greens need a little attention in early June but overall it was in good condition. The golf pro, cart guy, and bartender were all very friendly. The course was easy to moderate on a breezy day unless you tend to have a blow up hole or two like me. If we come back to town, I will play this course again.
Great view of South Padre Island
I have played the course many times over the past few years. Greens are in good shape and fairly quick. Some bare spots in the fairways and rough and many of the bunkers need more sand. Course can be tough when the wind is blowing making some of the holes very long. Some pretty neat holes like the Par 3 #3 with a great view. #5 is a short par 4 but you have to decide how much to cut off. Even with a few conditions that could be better, it is a good course to play if you get the chance and is only 10 minutes from South Padre Island.
Course needs lots of TLC, but still fun!
After seeing the driving range I thought we were in for a very long round, but to our surprise the course was in much more playable condition than the driving range. Yes, in some areas it's like you are playing in a cow pasture, but most of the fairways are okay. The sand...well lets just say there is no sand. The greens were puttable. If I had paid full price, I wouldn't have been such a happy golfer, but since we used Golfnow.com and paid such a reduced rate, I feel as if we had a fun time at a reasonable price.
It was everything that was described in the reviews a nice and challenging course.
Beautiful course No one was playing in the middle of week
There were some great features. some nice water features and traps that were well maintained.
Friendly reception when we arrived in parking lot, where we were asked if we needed assistance. Great service and food in the restaurant. The pro shop was more than helpful signing us in. Our bags were loaded on the carts for us. Driving range facility was well laid out and marked. It has been awhile since we have seen marshals actually looking after the course, sanding and fixing divits. Marshals checked more than once to ensure all was well with our foursome. Very enjoyable round and day. We will be back. Great course and facilities.....
Bunkers need a lot of attention, no sand.
The course is great to play, the fairways and greens are in great shape. I took my brother-in-law to play it for his first time and he really enjoyed it and he tought it to be a good test of golf.
Fortunately, my son is not superintendent here.He would be fired.
No green on"greens". Lacking yardage markers and info to help in club selection.Needs TLC. I liked the convenience of washrooms, drinking water and the staff. The pace of play was unhindered and the golfers I played with made for an enjoyable afternoon.
Fun little course.
Course wasn't difficult but played tough with the wind in play. Not a top quality course and very dry out there. The greens were large, in good shape, and many were challenging. We are still looking for a decent course in this part of Texas and probably won't play this one again.
