About
Set along the Rio Grande River, this is a scenic course with spectacular views. The front nine was built in 1987, and the back nine followed in 1992. The highlight of the course is what is perhaps the longest water hazard in Texas, the Rio Grande River, which flows along holes 5 through 13 on the left side of the fairway.
Narrow fairways and grass bunkers make the course tough, especially when the wind is howling, as it is tough to hit the small, firm greens. Water is everywhere. No. 14 is the only hole without water. The par 3 17th hole, with its island greens, headlines a series of demanding par 3 holes. The last hole plays 434 yards into the wind and has out-of-bounds on either side of the fairway.
Getting there : From Harlingen take Hwy. 77 south. When you come to Hwy. 802 turn right, then continue until you reach Hwy 281. Turn right again and drive approximately 2.5 miles to the course

Golf pass and Riverbend two different opunions
Played this course at least 50-75 times, always through golf now or T-time had no difficulty till last round. Payed for green fees with golf cart included. Got to the course as they wanted $28.00 dollars in addition to our fee?? Not sure what’s going on between Golf Now and Riverbend, but this definitely needs to be addressed. Or we need compensation for the cart? If cart is not included please show it on the booking!! Not happy but still love the game
Riverbend
Greens were decent but there are a # of dead spots, seem like they are getting smaller. Fairways are ok in most spots . Off the fairway is a lot of hard dirt. Tee boxes are hard and spotty. A nice golf course that needs more maintenance
Good greens
The tee boxes had just been plugged, leaving it a pain to tee up and get good footing. But once off the tee, the fairways and especially the greens were great
Nice course overall
Most of the greens are well kept but lack dampness. Fairways are dry with some areas within the fairway with no Bermuda grass.
