1757 Golf Club
About
Located just a few minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport, 1757 Golf Club is one of northern Virginia's most popular courses. The name comes from the same year that Loudoun County was founded. The golf course is definitely a shot-maker's layout with a diverse terrain that has elevation changes up to 30 feet. There are several risk-reward opportunities as well. Well positioned tee shots will be generously rewarded with accessible approach shots but if you're errant, you'll have to deal with a tough recovery. The golf course is fairly tight so accuracy is a necessity. There are also water hazards on 14 holes and the rough can also be punishing. 1757 Golf Club finishes with an intimidating par 3 that plays over water to a shallow green. You'll need a bold stroke to avoid a watery grave.

Hard to define unusual course
I've always enjoyed 1757, but it's a difficult course to really love. Water on 14 (maybe 15) holes, a routing bound by highways, power lines, retaining walls, and an inexplicably large range and practice area, and some other weirdness. Objectively I should like it less than I do. But I find it a fun layout and have somehow generally managed to navigate the point-to-point design mostly successfully. Maybe it's that the holes do have a nice variety, so the weird super dogleg hole No. 6 and the overly difficult Nos. 13 and 17 are contrasted with a reachable Par 5 9th and the short par-4 No. 12.
The overall property is quite flat and holes are both tree-lined and in open expanses. The layout is very unfavorable to righthanded slicers, as a number of holes, especially on the front, feature lakes running up the right side. Greens are very fair, large but not too much slope.
Walking has caught on here, but there are two problems: you cross Broad Run six times, requiring long walks between some holes, and then there is the walk from No. 9 to 10, about 2/3's of a mile (seriously!). You also have a full 400 yards from the starter station to the 1st tee.
As mentioned, the practice area is actually the highlight of the course (to the detriment of the 18-hole layout), The range itself has a cool vibe, with music playing and clubhouse drinks handy (almost Top Golf-esque). There is also an extensive practice area, and a warm-up putting/chipping green.
Challenging course
Hard to play early in the year. You have to know all the water obstacles, there are so many you can't see from the depart.
Greens are very fast, but in very good condition .
Great Early Spring Outing
1757 always delivers an excellent golfing challenge on a fun layout. The weather was spectacular if a little windy, but that only added to the challenge in maneuvering around the significant amount of water on the course. I always love playing at 1757 even when I don't shoot well.
Great day
Pace of play was great, course in great condition service great - overall great day of golf!
Bring a lot of balls!
Course was in good shape. Tough pin placements. Be warned, if you hit a shot too far left, too far right, too long or too short, it’s gone. From ponds to brush, any ball too far off target will be lost. Go by the way, there’s water on 14 holes. Enjoy.
Great time
Super course!! Everyone should give it a try! You won’t be disappointed
I'll definitely play here again!
I really loved this course! Great layout. Shot selection is important on almost every hole. And it's only 5 miles away from where I live. Looking forward to playing it again now that I have a little more course knowledge.
Good course but some staff issues
It was a great time playing and a great course. Most of the staff was friendly. There was one incident with a lady that worked with one in one of the amenities. She seems to be aggressive for no reason. Also, some of the maintenance staff wouldn’t stop when we were trying to hit or get off fairway. Other than that it was a fine experience.
fall bluster
Great pace--finished 18 holes in less than 3 hours. Greens were recently aerated and a little choppy but fairways were in good condition.
