Great conditions. Significantly better than last year
Night and day compared to the quality last year. Fairways and greens are very well maintained. Greens are a little slow but they’re at least consistent.
Good course, tee boxes need love
When it’s windy out this course can be a beast, and it was windy when I played. Third time there overall. The course has great fairways, pretty, can be forgiving. Rough can get tall enough to lose a ball right in front of you. Woods are killers. The greens are really tricky with lots of hidden sloping if you’re not familiar with the course, definitely a strong challenge for an average weekend player. Great staff, very welcoming, no skill level refused and a wide cross section of players were around but pace of play was good. Will play again but hopefully next time without the breeze.
Busy, but great pace
I’ve seen this course in far worse shape in previous years. It looks great right now. They’re doing a good job.
Better but still sub par
The course is in better shape than last year - how could it not be - right?
Fairways a in pretty good shape.
Greens mostly in good shape.
Tee boxes and dirt traps are still rough.
I wanted to see how the changes were coming along and clearly they have a long way to go to justify their prices, slow play, and no bev cart on a Saturday
Much better
Course is in significantly better shape than when it got a lot of hate last year. Great value to walk this course. Also, best BLT in the state!
Disappointing for the value.
Where do I start? I was so excited to play this course because in Reston- right.
It’s an old course in bad condition. Greens in bad shape, rough seemed uncut, during the approach many divots , I was paired with high schools kids that took many mulligans. Which did not matter because there were two groups ahead of us that played slow. No ranger to be founded to keep play on pace.
At best it’s a practice course - I would not take my buddies there it’s an embarrassment.
I will not go back there. Play at your own risk…
Play this course!!!
Really nice course. Weather just turned and this course was the perfect backdrop. Had groups directly in front of and behind us, all going a reasonable pace, making for a brisk round without feeling rushed. Would 1000% recommend to any friend. If you remember, take a look at the architecture… Very Reston. Played an afternoon round and the trees created a good balance between sun and shade on each hole.
Horrible.
Tee boxes laughably bad; fairways full of divots; rough overgrown; bunkers destroyed; greens extremely slow. Management should be ashamed. Turn this pathetic excuse for a golf course into something else.
Good Course Gone Bad
First off - be careful when booking. There is a $40 cart fee that is buried in the tee times notes. The cart was filthy - looked like it was never washed. There is a $14 range ball fee. These balls are several seasons old and have also never been washed.
The course is probably the worst conditioned course I have ever played. If the tee boxes had grass, it was several inches tall. On one hole, the grass had overgrown the ladies tee markers.
Fairways hadn't been mowed in a while. On a couple of holes, my wife and I couldn't find our balls in the middle of the fairway. Grass was that tall.
The par 3 boxes were mostly sand - had to tap the sand from my spikes after hitting my tee shots, just like exiting a bunker.
Speaking of bunkers - there are at least a dozen bunkers that have been abandoned. The fairway bunkers that haven't been abandoned are full of weeds.
Can't say too much about the greens - they had just been aerated (not mentioned when booking) and were supper hairy and slow. Many greens had fresh sand top dressing - looked like they were trying to regrow dead spots. By the third hole we decided to play max 2 putt to keep our sanity.
Years ago this course was in my regular rotation - it's a fun challenging but fair layout. I hadn't been here in ten years or so and was shocked at the neglect. Too bad it has deteriorated to this extent. I don't see how they can possibly recover.
Sad decline.
This course has become an absolute dog track. Greens are unevenly moved, have holes in them, and are probably running a 4.
Fairways are unevenly cut with lawn clippings everywhere.
Tee boxes are unmowed with grass above players ankles.
Used to be a solid track now pretty much unplayable.
