Makes me miss home
This is only course I have played in Louisiana that reminds me of courses in Memphis. Love the staff
Solid greens
Course condition is not 100% yet but greens rolled really well. Good track. One of my favs in southern Louisiana.
Best course in the area
I play Atchafalaya every chance I get to golf. Greens always in top form, fairways clean, bunkers in shape, and great staff. Challenging layout.
I have played here 15 or so times in past 10 years. The greens (except for #2) were about the best I've ever seen them. I dont know why they dont saw off the back of #2. It has never been playable. Too much shade. The fairways were rock hard. Difficult to hit a wedge off of. I actually aimed for the rough due to it being easier to hit off of. The clubhouse is awesome, as is the food. A good deal.
Atchafalaya Golf Course 3/26/17
We really enjoyed our round as the weather was great. The course was in good shape and not crowded at all. Thank you for assisting in getting the round booked at this course.
Hidden Gem
This course is very nice. Exactly what you would expect when playing a course on the Audobon trail.
Looks like a creampuff but isn't
You get a lot of run in the fairways. But the course is laid out in such a way that you have to position your ball in the right place for the easiest shot. Course is always in good shape and the practice facilities are excellent.
A Challenge
After playing the course I compared the slope rating to other courses in Louisiana. It is the second most difficult. We played from the white tees and found the hitting areas to be fair. Lots of bunkers but few are placed to penalize a well placed shot. The pins were in championship locations which was more than a challenge for an average golfer. The course was in immaculate condition. A wonderful experience.
Best bang for your bucks!!
Great layout and overall high end course. Great food as well!!
Casual round
Had a great time. Course is well maintained with fast greens. Pro shop well stocked and GPS on the carts. Absolutely top notch and price was more than reasonable!
This is a REAL golf course!
A friend and I played this course yesterday and even though it wasn't either one of our 1st time playing there it was a course I personally had only played twice before because of the drive... but it was well worth it in the long run... everything is run very professionally.... the greens were fast and furious and the course is a challenge.... you can't just jump up and try to whack it on every hole you have to play smart golf and figure in your strategy to defeat it.... was well worth the money spent and I will indeed go back!
Ok course, needs some TLC
Came here on a Monday for a round of golf with some friends. Pretty out of the way but was told it was worth the drive. The clubhouse is pretty impressive. Though I didn't stay to eat there I suspect it's above average. Pro shop was well stocked. People were very friendly. Rates are very affordable and include all you can hit at the range. Nice chipping and putting green. Course has a pretty interesting layout, especially the front nine. It's built in the middle of swamp land and there's a lot of really challenging holes weaving through the swamp. Tee boxes were well maintained as were the fairways. I hit a couple of rough patches on the greens and a few crusty bunkers (that's why not a five star review) but overall the course was in great shape. The back nine is next to a park/tennis courts/baseball fields. I'm a fan of nice views on a golf course so this doesn't give you that swamp feel that I was looking for. Back 9 is also a little more boring with less challenging holes and more straightforward holes, nothing too memorable.
Overall a great value. Problem is getting all the way out there as it really is in the middle of nowhere but if you are in the area or within a reasonable drive, I would give it a try for sure.
Cool course
It was nice to get away from the flat New Orleans courses I'm accustomed to playing... I enjoyed this course, because of the layout. The bunkers were placed fairly and the greens were in perfect condition. The 18th hole was my favorite coming into the green was a tuff angle over the water shot. I would definitely make the 2 hour drive out to this course again.
