Four Mile Ranch Golf Club
About
Four Mile Ranch Golf Club sprawls across a stunning landscape of gently rolling hills. The layout closely follows the natural contours of the terrain and doesn't use any formal bunkers, in their place are white shale ridges called hogbacks. They can range anywhere in height from 3 to 30 feet and they're not even the golf course's only distinctive feature. The layout winds through natural rock outcropping and a number of mini canyons. It's as challenging as it is scenic, though, with several blind shots and intimidating greens, none of which are more daunting than that on the memorable par-5 sixth. This tough green is obscured by huge rocks, testing not only your skills but also your ability to strategize. Four Mile Ranch G.C. offers a golf experience like none other in the area.

Unique
I'm fairly new to golfing and am only in my second season of play. That being said, this course was challenging but definitely doable for my skill level. I birdied a par 5 and parred 5 holes so overall it was a hoot. What I like about this course is that it is very well maintained. I could read every green and the ball would actually travel how it looks (unlike some other courses in the area). The staff is informative about how to play each hole, the views are gorgeous, it has a fun layout, and the price is reasonable. I enjoyed all of the course except for one hole, and that was a blind par 3. I'm not sure why the designer did that, but it was a stupid idea. Also, the elevation change for each hole added a new challenge to golf for me (I'm used to the flat courses of the midwest and Pueblo). This was a fun course and I will definitely come back.
A rollicking round of golf.
A great course as long as you have a guide along who has played it before. Course in great shape; fairways plush and greens roll true, although a bit slow. Probably a good thing with all the humps and bumps in them. Sometimes feels like you are playing a miniature golf course - lots of rolling fairways, blind approach shots, and even a blind par 3 where your aim at a pole on a hiil. Some may hate it, however it is a fun and challenging round of golf.
Unique holes. Fun to play and makes you smile.
The course was in great shape, both greens and fairways. The tee boxes are very fair, from beginner to scratch.
July @ 4 mile ranch
greens and fairways in pretty good shape. a few tee boxes are a little rough.
Course is full of tricky elements that make for great conversation with the post round beverage but those same things make it too tricked out to be a "favorite". None the less, always an enjoyable round there and well worth the trip.
really a great course with risk/reward value.
If you have a Business Associate you want to show a good time to, with a stunning view to keep the chatter going, this is the course. if you've played Wolfcreek in Mesquite NV, this course is very similar
This is a fun course to play!
Interesting holes and greens. It's is a fun course to play. Discount tee times makes it affordable.
Buitiful course on the midle of "nowhere"
I playing this course approximately twice a year (have a cabin an hour drive). I was so impressed from the very first time I played there- what a treat! But now I am very concerned that this course
will turn to one of the average one: a lots of weeds, especially on the t-boxes. I hope that this never happened and we all will be enjoying this one!
A unique course
One of my favorites, love the blind shots and some of the bowl greens. Play it once and you'll want to come back again
Great views worth the drive
Four Mile is outside of Canon City, CO, and has well maintained fairways and greens. Course is still recovering from a cool spring, but in very good shape overall (we played Memorial weekend). The areas off the fairways a dead, making playing out of trouble impossible. If you don't stay on or near the fairway, bring balls - you may not find yours. Many fairways are wide and inviting to offset the trouble that is off them. It is built like a desert course in that way. It can be hot and dry in this part of Colorado, so hydrate well before and during play. The views from the tee boxes and greens show large spans of mountains and foothill plateaus. You will encounter 4-5 holes with blind shots to the greens. Trust you distance and the aiming stakes! Have fun.
A friendly, quirky course. Usually in pristine condition.
The course has some early season issues, but it appears they are trying to get them solved. Greens are in great shape and the staff is very helpful and friendly.
I miss the good old days!
When I first played this course 3 years ago it was a diamond in the ruff! Now they have had some issues with ownership and water? Not sure what that is all about but I am afraid this course will not make it unless someone comes in and buys it up! Please bring back the 4 mile that I first met!
turf desiccation!
winter winds were not kind to fairways, and tees where there was little or no snow cover. Doubtful that the groove seeding will bring the effected areas back this year. many areas of the course should have been covered during winter months, or key areas irrigated during winter drought. Great design in very poor condition.
It's been dry in Colorado
This course has always been fun with it's share of challenges. Drought and Winter kill have put many Colorado courses it rough conditions from tees through the greens but hopefully late spring moisture will get them back in shape. $40/18 w / a cart is fine for our group.
still wintery
Course is a blast to play, just not in April. Greens were rough, fairways were starting to turn green, and lies were pretty sketchy all over. Excited to play it come June though!
Great course slow golfers
Once again another great time at this course. Only drawback is slow golfers. Not sure why people don’t understand ready golf. I also don’t understand why everyone seems to wait until one player reads his put, lines up his ball, rechecks his shot and then puts before the other golfers read their own lines. As long as you don’t interfere with someone’s line speed up lay guys and think of others behind you. Still great weather and very nice course.
FourMile has the most unique greens I've ever seen.
We had a great experience playing at Four Mile this past weekend. The fairways and greens are in great shape. This course has the most unique greens I've ever played - having a great deal of undulation (that is an understatement). The design is pretty spectacular - lots of blind greens - and greens that are tucked behind rolling hills and draws. There are also some pretty significant eleveation changes. We really enjoyed playing this course and felt like it was a great value.
great layout
this is one of my favorite course's, i love playing there, the greenskeepers name is john and he really takes pride in his course, this is a pretty arid area but this course is as green and perfect as you will find anywhere, you can't find a weed on any of the fairways or tee box's, it's like playing on a carpet, it's a very challenging and beautiful course, especially the back nine with the elavated tee boxs, i highly recommend this course
Big Fun
Great course, hugs the land. No bunkers but natural outcroppings and hazards abound. The greens are challenging with dramatic sloping. The course is unique and a blast to play! Slow economy crippled development of residential component, but the golf course is unforgettable.
A Little Gimmicky
I love this course but it has some gimmicky features to it. In most cases you will not see your tee shot land. Others have holes indicated by a post that you must shoot at as you cannot see the green. Most have a good backstop with high backs that reward long shots and often penalize short ones.
On the downside, we went shortly after the greens had been sanded and aerated and the putting was not good. The greens are usually pristine here and it would have been nice to know about the condition PRIOR to making the reservation. The fun factor fell as result of the poor putting surfaces.
