All 18 Greens Showing Some Stress, Some Really Bad
I have not played The Falls in nearly 4 years. I like the course because it has good design, especially the back nine. The back nine is much easier than the front nine too. The biggest change in the course over 4 years is the zoysia fairways have come in nicely. Most of the tees are improved. Some are all zoysia and some are a mixture of grasses. The senior weekday rate of $47 is attractive. If you play in the morning, the sun is right in your eyes on the 1st tee.
I’ve played numerous courses this summer. I see many courses with no stress to their greens. Maybe a few with a couple of greens that have stress from the hot summer temps. However, The Falls has ALL 18 greens under stress. Greens with dead, brown grass, no grass, dirt and sand placed in bad areas. Some greens were really bad like holes 4, 8, 15. They have even placed new bent grass sod on the 8th green. They have a fan on that hole but it was not on.
The greens are heavily watered and don’t have much of a root system. Many muddy ball marks that mark up the greens.
There were a few tees in bad shape, which included a weed problem. These were 8, 17 & 18. The first 2/3 of the 18th fairway is a awful (weeds, dirt). Not sure why the last 150 yards is a perfect zoysia fairway and the rest is really bad.
You should be able to find courses that have less issues with their greens in the metro area – that you should play instead.
Entertaining layout with many waterfalls
The Falls has a lot of photogenic holes that create an interesting and challenging layout. Plenty of namesake waterfalls that frame up holes nicely. However, up close, a number of the lakes had nasty and boggy water which didn’t look good at all.
Excellent and friendly workers on staff. Guy checking us in found a specific piece of swag I wanted to buy and went into the back room to find the exact one I wanted. At the turn, the lady in the grill was swamped but got us out in a hurry.
A number of fairways were tightly pinched in requiring very exacting tee shots. The 12th hole is pretty close to a road on the left side. I didn’t think it would be an issue until one of the players in our group hit a dead pull OVER the street and into the backyard of a house!
On the backside, you have to drive thru a tunnel. Also would be a difficult course to walk as there are a number of tees that are far away from the previous green. Water is in play on a number of tee and approach shots. Some are easy while others were challenging.
The course was in good shape but a couple of low-lying greens need some work as they had dead sports and were baked out. Will for sure play again.
Overall In Good Shape
Overall, I was pleased with my expereince at the Falls.
The greens were in good shape and at a decent speed. The fairways were fine also with only hole 18 having a few bare spots. The rough was firm and you could experience some big bounces
The only issues I experienced were the tees were a little beat up. They need to cut down a bush on the par 3, hole 12. It is blocking the view of this beautiful par 3. Pace of play was not the greatest though. Waited on every shot. On hole 8, it really slowed down with 3 groups on that hole.
The Best Condition I've Seen The Falls Golf Club
This course is in really good shape. Everything from the greens, fairways and the rough. The greens were not the fastest but rolled smooth. I only saw some bare spots in fairways on 9 & 18 - that was it. the zoysia fairways were thicker and more dense than most courses I'm seeing. The rough was lush and green.
The staff at the Falls is extremely friendly. A $38 senior rate on a Thursday. First course to have water on the course since COVID.
The only issue I have with the course are the cart paths which are showing their age.
Good Conditions
I thought the greens were in great shape for November. The areas that were stressed out in the summer, have been repaired. They do have some sections roped off to prevent foot traffic and give the areas a chance to heal. Many ball marks on the greens. Just need to have the players repair these as they play.
The staff is very friendly, especially the starter. He even brought carts out to our cars.
The Falls is an enjoyable golf course and has a great Fall price of $45 on the weekend. They also allow you to take single carts if you wish due to the COVID virus.
Average
Nice day fo play just not overly impressed with the course. The greens were not in great shape. Several had sections completely roped off as a hazard. Leaves completely covered the entire 18th green making it impossible to putt without spending time cleaning off a clear enough path to put. Our approach shot was severely effected by this. Nice Sunday afternoon, hot for October and not a employee to be seen on the course. The rough was rock hard in many spots as well as sections of fairways. The front nine was in better shape than the back. For $50 I would expect better. Not overly impressed, and unless invited or a tournament I don’t see myself returning
Friendly Course With Good Conditions, Some Greens Stressing
One of the best things about the Falls, is it really cares about the customer. They give you a good course at a fair price. No additional fee if you want to take a single cart because of Covid-19. The friendlliness starts with the cart attendant, then the starter and then the pro shop. Just a wonderful experience.
Overall the course is in excellent shape except for two greens. The greens on the the par 3's on the front (holes 4 & 8) are beginning to be stressed out. The green on hole 3, only the very far right side of the green is in poor shape.
Overall Conditions Are Good, Few Greens Are Showing Some Stress From The Heat
Myself and my playing partners, give the Falls high marks. We thought in the best condition we have seen it.
The only issues were 3 greens showing some stress from the heat. These are holes 3, 16 & 18. They are only showing stress on the edges, so the putting surfaces are fine. They do have a temporary fan on hole 18 to help with that green.
The staff is very organized and friendly at the Falls.
Kak
I only played 9 holes and started on the back 9. The 10 th hole is hard to start on. The course was in excellent shape. I’ll be back.
Firm & Fast
After several days of dry weather and windy days, the course really dried out. The fairways were really firm and you got plenty of roll. The greens were fast and smooth.
Organized & Greens Looking Good
The Falls Golf Club is very organized as far as dealing with the COVID-19 concerns. Carts disinfected, extra carts so players can ride as a single, Styrofoam donuts in cups, so you don't touch pin or cup when retrieving your ball, no need to remove the pin, removal of all rakes, snack shop open for to-go orders and drinks,
The course was in fine shape for March. They had just aerated their greens with the small holes. They were putting very well just a few days after aerating, Their greens should be in superb condition in a couple of weeks.
Greens In Good Shape
The Falls is a fun layout, with the backside being much easier than the front. The greens were in great condition and not overly fast. The customer service is outstanding too. They are bringing carts to your car and the starter is very organized and friendly.
A few concerns. They have 2 fairways which are not zoysia. Why not make them all zoysia? Hole 1 has zoysia within the 75 yards of the green, - why not the entire fairway? Also, the course does not have yardage markers on all the par 3's. This will help speed up play.
Returning golfer
It has been over 8 years since I was here and the course has improved tremendously. I is in beautiful condition. I will definitely be back.
Over half the greens are gone
Haven’t been out here in awhile and won’t be coming back for some time. Over half the greens are gone. Pace of play was atrocious. 5:15 to play. No etiquette from anyone out there.
Winter golf at its finest
Played in the middle of winter on a low 50 degree day. The course was in great shape and the greens were rolling very well. not what you usually get mid winter.
Cold weather/good course
Course was a great deal, in good shape for November. Greens were quick, tee boxes in good shape, fairways were mostly in good shape except where they had freshly seeded, but this time of year, that's ok, since it'll be even better next year.
Golfnow.com price and course condition were too good to pass up.
We played this course within the past 2 weeks and were very satisfied. When I saw the pricing on the website, I booked it right away with a friend.
Course is in great condition
Greens were aerated not long ago, so there are some holes on greens, but not too bad. Overall this course is a nice course. Well maintained. Tee boxes in good shape, especially this time of year. The falls were not flowing and I do like that, but acceptable this time of year. The course is challenging but fair.
