Course - Cart Path
Course management decided to implement cart path only policy for the winter. Sort of too much walking for us senior folks that love to play golf but have some difficulties walking too much. Had I been informed about cart path only I would not have booked the T time.
I will not be playing at this course until the cart path conditions are lifted.
Went out on a Monday morning as a solo. I was put with a group of 3 to start the day. There were multiple groups on each hole through the day, but the pace kept up and we had a good and consistent time at each hole. Course was soft from the morning dew, but it was in great shape.
Nice golf course with big fairways and in pretty good shape. Nice guys behind the desk and the starter was cool (not some old curmudgeon with a power trip like most starters). A good day and excellent value for the money. I will be back.
this was my first visit to this course, i like to try as many different courses as i can.
Tee boxes, fairways and greens are in great condition.
There are no holes where it feels like you are too close to houses, which is nice to not have to worry about.
Carts are propane and were in nice shape, brakes must have been brand new cause even the slightest push almost screeched to a halt.
Clubhouse is nice, with a nice seating area and full bar, pro shop is well stocked.
first course i have been to where you cannot take the cart in the parking lot, which is ok i guess. personally, i like to take the cart to my car and load-out without worry of clubs walking away. this course is in a nice area so again isn't really an issue.
staff was great, when i checked in the gentleman told me i could get started asap bc there was 4 foursomes getting ready to start. usually i arrive about 1 hour early to prepare but i didn't want to get stuck behind them so i went for it.
Will definitely play here again. i can see how pace of play can get bad. there is no one at the first tee to manage it. also when i was done there was a long line of golfers waiting to get started.
This course does NOT loop back to the clubhouse at the turn.
There were many, at least 5, water stations, which was way more than i have ever seen at a course, much appreciated thank you.
very well maintained course and it is apparent that they intend to keep it looking great.
A lot of fun to play and in great shape wide fairways but some shallow elevated. Greens can be a challenge , always in great shape, players need to fix their ball marks
I haven’t played the Links of Dardenne since 2017 and I will not be back. This course has absolutely no regard to the pace of play and is outrageously overpriced.
The group in front of us was so slow, there was 2 groups on the tee box behind them all day. When they were teeing off on hole 16, there were 2 holes open in front of them. The ranger came by on hole 12 and we told him about the group in front of us was extremely slow. He didn’t acknowledge us or did anything about it. Totally unacceptable!
The cost to play was $60.82 (tax included). So overpriced for the condition of the course and the lack of concern for the pace of play. You can play the best course in the St. Louis area for $70 (tax included). Why would anyone bother playing the Links of Dardenne when you can play the best (Annbriar) for $8 more?
This course has a huge problem with drainage, and nothing has been done about it since I last played there. There are bare spots in the fairways from where water sits or flows. Some of the holes, they have placed a large amount of sand in these bare spots! The 8th fairway is the worst fairway you will ever play. Bumps, humps and more bare spots than you can count. It is a par 5 and we played it as a par 4 because they were laying new sod down on the front part of the fairway. If they didn’t improve their drainage system, they are just wasting their time and money putting in the new sod. The 14th fairway is another eye sore also.
The tee boxes were not the best either. Brown in areas, the 4th tee was covered with crabgrass and extremely difficult to put a tee in the ground throughout the day.
There is no dress code for this course either. People playing with t-shirts.
The only positives for this course - the greens were in good shape (on the slow side) and for a links course, the design is decent.
Blah Blah Blah
Course was in great condition considering 4-5 inches of rain in the past 4-5 days.
Good course for the money
Enjoyed playing the course for the first time. Challenging layout from tee to green with good greens. I will be back.
Great greens but terrible fariways
The course conditions were interesting, and not all in a positive manner. On the plus side, the greens and tee boxes were in excellent shape. Putts rolled a little slow but stayed on line, and it was easy to get a tee into the ground. HOWEVER, the fairways were terrible and not in ideal shape.
While the fairways were for the most part green, the fairways had all kinds of dips, bumps and low areas where the grass had fallen below the surface. In other places, there were places the grass had died and was dirt or mud. Numerous times, we were in the middle of a fairway but would be hitting out of a rut that was a foot or two lower than the fairway. And not in the quirky Open Championship manner, either.
Not sure why the fairways have settled down in this fashion but it was not good and made for an unpleasant playing experience. It got bad enough on some holes that we just moved our ball for a more level lie. Plus, driving the cart down the fairway was a rough and bouncy experience that even hurt the back of one of our players
Many of the greens are sitting up on a ledge so you had to land shots on the putting surface as it was difficult to run a ball on. Also, once you head out onto the course, other than at hole 2, you never see the clubhouse again until 18. The course was crowded and we had to wait on virtually every shot, which led to a nearly five hour round. The layout is relatively flat but still semi-interesting.
Given the odd fairway conditions, along with the relatively high price point and an unpleasant starter, I’m not certain I will play there again this year. Might be the type of course to play once a year just for a change of scenery. I would recommend it but give lots of warnings.
Not worth any money or time
This course is one of the worst in the area no doubt. The pace of play is terrible there are no marshals anywhere. The course is in terrible condition as always. Tee boxes not cut greens slow and fairways have literal potholes in them. Terrible place to go and definitely not worth 50 bucks. Maybe worth 15 bucks to play.
