Not happy this time!
I’ve played compass point several times over the last few years but this time the experience was pretty bad. For a course that is $70 per round in February, my entire group expected more. The course was in pretty lousy condition. I understand we had a lot of rain in Thursday but the course is draining very poorly. There were a ton of traps that still had a foot of water in them, standing water in fairways, greens with poorly repaired areas, and tons of spots without any grass at all. All of the tee boxes were mushy and there were better spots that were dry.
Also, the snack shack only had hotdogs. Not that I don’t like hotdogs but the man behind the counter said that the Sysco truck never showed up so there weren’t any other food options. I know stuff happens but I expect a much better experience when paying $70+ dollars for a round of golf in February.
On top of that, the credit card machine at the range doesn’t work so I had to walk back to the clubhouse to go buy a bucket of balls. It would’ve been nice if someone in the pro shop mentioned that when I first arrived and paid for my round.
Overall, it was a really bad experience and I hope they make improvements before the golf season starts.
Home track
As compass point is my home track I still have a equal opinion about it, I think the green fees are too high at this time of year for winter golf and will actually only play here when there’s a deal on one of my apps and usually get it for $30 less then normal rates , the courses have been really soaked so it’s usually cart path only with the occasional rough only but all in all I like the set up of the 2 courses and they kinda have different styles where the north is more open the south is a little tighter with more woods. The one thing to definitely improve on especially charming the rates they do is some new golf carts and get the gps on them at $70-$100 in season I would expect up to date carat not some 15 year old gas hogs . And I know they keep th outside that’s why they are gas then put gps on them so we can see the layout of the course and the yardage
Course is nice
Course just thawed out and was a swamp January 1. Cost was high for winter golf . The snack bar was not prepared for winter golfers- no one to make bloody Mary’s let alone have hot dogs ready
Great experience
Great course, friendly people. First time playing at the course and first time playing golf in a long time. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I had a great experience.
Great deals for compass pointe on Golf Now app
Beautiful, well-maintained course, found an excellent online deal on the GolfNow app, food in clubhouse was very good, staff, extremely friendly, carts were clean. Pace of play was a little slow, but course was crowded as it was a gorgeous day! Highly recommend it!
Slow play but we've experienced worse.
Fairways need work ; many were torn up and soggy.
Only course I know where starters won't give keys to carts until 5 mins. before tee time. Control freaks.
The greens were championship quality
I have to say the green speed was not what I was used to and putted past the hole way too many times. But they were in great condition so it was all my fault. I do miss the old days of getting a walk on tee time but this is one of my favorite places to play.
Northeast Course is great
Not sure if I’ve ever played the Southwest course, but the NE course is always challenging. I’ll admit, as a hacker, I’m averaging 2.5 putts per green, because they are really tough to read, regardless of angle, up, down, sideways.
So, if you consider yourself a good to great putter, be prepared.
Love playing here
Course in great shape. Took a day off to play after 6 days of rain and it was not soaked
