Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
About
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club sprawls across beautifully hilly terrain, providing a course that is not for the faint of heart. The course is defined by the dramatic changes in elevation, which can make it tough to walk. The steep hills make this a tough golf course even for high handicappers. Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies abound and you'll also face forced carries to narrow landing areas as well as blind layup shots. The more open front nine is player friendly and the back nine is where it gets tougher with mostly tree-lined holes and more strategically placed bunkers. The golf course is as scenic as it is challenging with elevated tees and greens that overlooks the surrounding hills and valleys. The beauty and difficulty of the course has built Chehalem Glenn Golf Club a reputation as one of the greater Portland area's must-play courses.

4th green. Pretty typical of the course. That’s my ball by the pin from about 190 yds. Not bad, made for eagle. Photo submitted by markmcnwa on 11/20/2019

Chehalem Glenn Golf Course Photo submitted by AllenGoodall on 09/08/2015
Cold and muddy, but drier than last week
Still plugging when you land off the fairways, but it's drying out a bit. Great course, challenging but enjoyable.
Very challenging, impeccable greens, very muddy
This was the 5th time playing this Chehalem, and will absolutely keep this in my once a month lineup. The course features many tight fairways, elevated tee boxes or elevated greens, forgiving if you miss the fairways on most holes, sand traps were in great shape, and greens were impressively consistent and fast.
One of the few courses with a putting course, haven't played it yet but I will next time. Next to the putting course is a full length 20+ mat only driving range and a large practice putting/chipping green. The course is the only one I've played this year that has an entire practice hole available to public about 100 yards in length with multiple flags and sand traps. It would be easy to come here to train approaches, short game, and putting for little to no cost (if I lived closer I would be here doing just that a couple times a week)
The course is pretty tight and many holes have out of bounds or houses on one side that if you hit into you won't be finding or are not permitted to search for your balls. Fairway sand traps are well placed waiting to distract you and capture your ball. Lots of holes feature fairway water hazards to add to the challenge.
The rough is playable, little thick but not unplayable.
During summer you'll get plenty of roll out on the fairways, but since this is the PNW in the rainy season expect your ball to plug on nearly every shot, especially in the rough. I almost lost a shoe around the 9th green because as with most of the course this time of year is very muddy expect to sink up to an inch or two in some cases, make sure your shoes are laced tight.
This is a course that I would hesitate to walk, which I do 95% of the time when I play, simply because the distance between green to tee box on quite a few holes along with the amount of hills.
I would certainly recommend this course to anyone high handicappers are likely to lose 5+ balls per round, I'm a 5 handicap and lost 2 (1 OB and 1 in the rough plugged just off the fairway).
As far as pace of play goes, the first 4 times there was a marshall driving around keeping pace of play, which is nice given high handicappers are likely to be on a ball hunt on at least 1/3 holes.
All good at the Glenn
Love the course, Hard but fair and lots of tee boxes to hit from.
Helpful staff
I’ve had helpful considerate staff interactions for years here. I arrived late for my tee time and within minutes was assured they would get me out as soon as they could, and they did. I lost my glove on the front nine and asked the Marshal if he could help, he did save me a hike to get it where the group behind us said they left it.
I’ve begun to expect this sort of country club experience. One of my favorite facilities in the region.
A Long Walk
Not thrilled with the layout of the course, but the conditions of the course after a week and a half of rain were great. Rough was long but expected. This course ain’t easy.
Excellent play
The course was well groomed and beautiful countryside
Saturday round at Chehalem
The course was in decent shape, greens recently punched and played slow, fairways cut a little higher than expected so no or little rollout. The bucket of range balls I received had several with mud caked on them and the driving range mats showing so near. But all in all ok.
Expensive
Beach like Punched greens and wet course, still charged full price
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Chehalem Glenn Golf Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Smooth Golf Operational
My instinct was spot on. This was and still is a great course to play especially middle of the week. Beautiful a d quiet gives the focus to have a stress free day is the best quality of Chehalan Glenn GC. One bad shot is forgotten as the stroll to the approach for the next strike is erased with a serene setting of the golf course. Great customer service and easy access around the grounds.
Adds to the appeal of a relaxing and satisfying day at Chehalan. I strongly recommend making your own opinion with a round at this golf course.
Very nice track
This property is greedy. Golf Now Hot deal was $51 two players ( good deal ). $30. For cart fee. No Deal!!!!!! $15 each to ride, GREEDY $$$$$
Challenging course, beautiful area
This is a challenging course in a number of ways, it demands accuracy, has many elevation changes, and the greens tend to have both undulation and looping lines.
I enjoyed the challenge, but I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. Oh, and get a cart unless your looking for some serious cardio.
Wine Country Beauty
Always a good time at chehalem. Challenging and long holes from the tips. Accuracy a must on some. Great condition from tee to green.
