Chehalem Glenn Golf Club sprawls across beautifully hilly terrain, providing a course that is not for the faint of heart. The course is defined by the dramatic changes in elevation, which can make it tough to walk. The steep hills make this a tough golf course even for high handicappers. Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies abound and you'll also face forced carries to narrow landing areas as well as blind layup shots. The more open front nine is player friendly and the back nine is where it gets tougher with mostly tree-lined holes and more strategically placed bunkers. The golf course is as scenic as it is challenging with elevated tees and greens that overlooks the surrounding hills and valleys. The beauty and difficulty of the course has built Chehalem Glenn Golf Club a reputation as one of the greater Portland area's must-play courses.

1st time at Chehalem Glenn

My first time playing this course and not my last. Challenging course with hills and more hills. Recommend getting a cart if you plan on playing a full 18. Greens and fairways well maintained even after a dry, hot summer. Decent driving range to get loose on, two separate putting areas although one looked to be used for chipping. Some holes have wide landing areas while others require more accuracy. Tee shot selection key on certain holes as the may not be the longest holes on the course but the landing areas are not always standard length. Meaning if you hit driver on all of the par 4s you will over hit the landing area and end up out of bounds. Very fun course that only took 4 hours and 15 minutes to play while following a foursome.

Dodger

Greens were just sanded and a little slow, but still rolled pretty well. Course is a great value, but a little tough for high handicappers. Choose a shorter set of tees to make it more fun.

Unique and Challenging

This is a very unique golf course that is a lot of fun. Many different elevation changes, with some forced carries, makes this course pretty demanding off most tee shots. All types of hazards come into play at Chehalem Glenn. This course is is pretty well maintained with smooth rolling greens. The staff was friendly, however the pace of play could be better. It isn't an easy track with many types of shots that you need to focus in of you want to get a lower score. It would be nice for a little consideration for us walking or pushing carts, not to feel like the four some behind you isn't on your back because they are in carts. I would recommend this course, but bring a few extra balls and play forward tees equal to your skill level to keep everyone happy.

Great Challenging Fun Course!

Pro shop staff was awesome and very friendly. He had us start back 9 where we met Chuck the starter. Chuck was awesome and friendly as well. Being our first time he was giving us pointers on specific holes and how to play them which we humbly accepted. Overall, the course was great challenging and fun to say, although we were a little thrown off seeing a course marshal drive around and not noticing for some reason that the foursomes in front of us were playing really slow and taking their sweet time. Every tee box/hole we felt like a 10 minute wait because of their pace of play. Not to mention the other golfers behind us waiting as well. That would be the only bad experience we had otherwise we did love the course and would come back again for golf. I hope moving forward that if there is a course marshal driving around that he would pay attention to that and truly do his job.

Very busy Monday

It was a very busy Monday, a little slow. But Covid makes all the courses busy nowadays. The weather was perfect. I enjoyed my round and can't wait to come back.

Great Staff!!!

I play Chehalem many many times a year. Anytime I’m feeling especially good about my game I walk Chehalem and get immediately humbled. Especially that back 9. The staff are excellent. AC and the guys do an amazing job and it’s why I’ll keep coming back.

Newberg golf

Interesting course design! There are few questionable holes that may have been designed because of propert restrictions. Other than that, it’s a very good course that was in good shape.

Nice up and down course

Most tee shots are hitting over a ravine which makes for a long walk if not riding cart. Course doesn’t play to long by is challenging.

Great course for the money

Played Chehalem for the first time with three friends. Staff was friendly. Price was certainly right - booked through the course website and got a steal of a deal (less than most muni 9-hole rates) on a midweek early afternoon tee time.

I'd heard that the course was very challenging. I found it to be only moderately so from the middle tees. In fact, I shot a personal best round for the year (thanks to lots of up and down conversions). Greens were medium-fast and not too hard to read. Most holes had a clearly defined "good miss" area on both the tee shot and the approach.

I didn't love the layout, especially the first several holes of the back nine which seemed a bit monotonous. Several forced carries (albeit short) were a little unfair for the two older members of our group playing from the red tees.

Overall, I'd play here again, especially for the price.

The course is challenging

The course was in good shape. The placement of the pin on some of the holes was very difficult to putt to. Nice day pace of play was good just at 4 hours. Players need to make sure and fix their ball marks on the greens.

Staff was friendly.

Course was in great shape

First time at Chehalem. Course was in great shape, greens were deceptively slow but in excellent shape. The course was challenging at times, when it seemed like it might not be. I liked the vast differences that the course presented from hole to hole. CARTs were in good shape as well. The only thing I didn’t like was that they were using mats at the driving range for the practice facility. That is a pretty small aspect and easily dealt with. 5/5 for this course, will definitely come back for another round!
