Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
About
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club sprawls across beautifully hilly terrain, providing a course that is not for the faint of heart. The course is defined by the dramatic changes in elevation, which can make it tough to walk. The steep hills make this a tough golf course even for high handicappers. Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies abound and you'll also face forced carries to narrow landing areas as well as blind layup shots. The more open front nine is player friendly and the back nine is where it gets tougher with mostly tree-lined holes and more strategically placed bunkers. The golf course is as scenic as it is challenging with elevated tees and greens that overlooks the surrounding hills and valleys. The beauty and difficulty of the course has built Chehalem Glenn Golf Club a reputation as one of the greater Portland area's must-play courses.

4th green. Pretty typical of the course. That’s my ball by the pin from about 190 yds. Not bad, made for eagle. Photo submitted by markmcnwa on 11/20/2019

Chehalem Glenn Golf Course Photo submitted by AllenGoodall on 09/08/2015
Nice up and down course
Most tee shots are hitting over a ravine which makes for a long walk if not riding cart. Course doesn’t play to long by is challenging.
Great course for the money
Played Chehalem for the first time with three friends. Staff was friendly. Price was certainly right - booked through the course website and got a steal of a deal (less than most muni 9-hole rates) on a midweek early afternoon tee time.
I'd heard that the course was very challenging. I found it to be only moderately so from the middle tees. In fact, I shot a personal best round for the year (thanks to lots of up and down conversions). Greens were medium-fast and not too hard to read. Most holes had a clearly defined "good miss" area on both the tee shot and the approach.
I didn't love the layout, especially the first several holes of the back nine which seemed a bit monotonous. Several forced carries (albeit short) were a little unfair for the two older members of our group playing from the red tees.
Overall, I'd play here again, especially for the price.
The course is challenging
The course was in good shape. The placement of the pin on some of the holes was very difficult to putt to. Nice day pace of play was good just at 4 hours. Players need to make sure and fix their ball marks on the greens.
Staff was friendly.
Course was in great shape
First time at Chehalem. Course was in great shape, greens were deceptively slow but in excellent shape. The course was challenging at times, when it seemed like it might not be. I liked the vast differences that the course presented from hole to hole. CARTs were in good shape as well. The only thing I didn’t like was that they were using mats at the driving range for the practice facility. That is a pretty small aspect and easily dealt with. 5/5 for this course, will definitely come back for another round!
Rooster Review
The course was in wonderful condition, however the greens were fairly slow.
Challenging and fun
The course has some great challenges. All aspects of the course were in great shape. This is a must play if you haven’t already.
Enjoyable round
Course is in great condition. Friendly staffs. Nice weather. Will come back play again.
Challenging Course
Chehalem Glenn is a beautiful course. Very challenging with good rewards.
Another pleasant experience despite the rain.
This is such a great course to test your level of play as it requires a vast variety of shot-making. When I played it, the rain was present the majority of my round. The course was in very good condition. Chehalem Glenn is one of my favorite courses in the Portland area.
Taking a chance on the weather
With a chance of rain in the forecast we came anyway and found a beautifully maintained course. Seems that I am the only one hitting into the sand as on most holeS it was in fine condition, I thought the lack of racking would be disastrous but no. Played from the blue tees, a mistake, but it gave the course a new look and a real challenge, I mean a real challenge.
Blown away
I’ve lived in Portland my whole life and never played Chehalem Glenn. I was blown away. It’s a gorgeous course with lots of practice amenities. I will be back often.
Good Value
Open fairways and good conditions. If walking, some steep hills and long walks between holes.
Challenging but fair
This is one of my favorite nearby courses due to the layout and the premium on quality shot-making. The course was in good condition for this time of year. It is a great barometer in which to judge your game and where you need work. I highly recommend this course.
Great track and even better staff
Great challenging track. Definitely recommend a cart. Staff is awesome.
Greens were in good shape pace of play was good. Was a little windy so club choice was difficult. Over all a fun track to pla
