Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
About
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club sprawls across beautifully hilly terrain, providing a course that is not for the faint of heart. The course is defined by the dramatic changes in elevation, which can make it tough to walk. The steep hills make this a tough golf course even for high handicappers. Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies abound and you'll also face forced carries to narrow landing areas as well as blind layup shots. The more open front nine is player friendly and the back nine is where it gets tougher with mostly tree-lined holes and more strategically placed bunkers. The golf course is as scenic as it is challenging with elevated tees and greens that overlooks the surrounding hills and valleys. The beauty and difficulty of the course has built Chehalem Glenn Golf Club a reputation as one of the greater Portland area's must-play courses.

4th green. Pretty typical of the course. That’s my ball by the pin from about 190 yds. Not bad, made for eagle. Photo submitted by markmcnwa on 11/20/2019

Very nice except
I have played here many time and enjoy this course.
The staff are always friendly and helpful.
The facilities are well kept.
I ride a cart here as the walk can be challenging due to the elevation changes.
They are very inconsistent and difficult to gauge as many times there will not be much sand so you end up blading the ball. I do not have trouble playing bunker shots and have played 3 local courses this week but nobody has bunkers as poor as these.
I wish they would fix them!
Tough course
The changes in elevation along with bunkers placed cleverly will test your ball flight accuracy and distance control on nearly every hole. Some holes even have deep ravine or dry creek running across them. Greens were great even after 2 months of dry weather. We thoroughly enjoyed it and suggest strongly renting a cart.

This course is worth playing.
The course was in excellent shape. There was lots of roll on the fairways and the greens were great. It is extremely challenging for an 18 handicapper but it is still fun. I have played here several times and have never broken 90. This last time, I shot 90 and would have broken 90 but a few of the pin placements were very tricky and I ended up with three 3-putts. I would recommend this course and I do plan to play there again!
Hi Golfnut1953,

No more par 5 on #12
I still think hole #9 is gimmicky. They did make one very good change, they made #12 a par 4 and turned 17 into a par 5....much better! Course was playing ok, the greens were a bit on the slow side.

Good course, pretentious staff.
Course was beautiful, staff and club members rude and pretentious.

Course played very well. Would recommend a power cart as there is considerable elevation change, especially on the back nine. Definitely a challenging course. Greens were firm and undulating.
Challenging Course , Fun toPlay
One of my favorite courses in Portland Metro Area.Good condition, good pace of play, lots of elevation changes ( I like ) . And a reasonable price for such a good course. I play this course often.Others I like , Reserve South and North , OGA , Langdon Farms and Pumpkin Ridge . Those are the courses I play most often.
Fun Course Could Use Better Greens
I have played Chehalem Glenn several times and I am a fan of the course. It's a fun track and the changes they've made to holes #9 and #12 make sense for the daily round. The course is always in pretty good shape and is walkable if you don't mind a bit of a workout on a few holes. The one major hit against the course are the greens. I have no issue with the design of the greens but they are terribly slow. If they sped up the greens to a reasonable pace, this course would be very good and I would play it more often.
Great course. Lot's of fun
This course isn't too awfully long of a course and but has some challenging holes. Really fun, beautiful and a very well kept. Would definitely play again.
Great value.
The course and greens were in great shape. It is a pretty difficult walk but well worth the effort.
Excellent value, well designed and maintained golf course.
Excellent course - challenging but fair. GolfBoards available 5/15/15 and will make a rather hilly walk so much more fun. Front nine is easier than the back, where driver doesn't need to come out much. Make sure you understand where drop zones are whenever there is a hazard/ravine crossing the fairway (#6) - hopefully you never need to know.
Lov 'n it!
Nice setting, well-designed course. Trouble is nearby
On almost every hole unless you are quite accurate.
Loved holes 10-12 to start back nine. I'll be back!
Best value around ..!!!!!
I played this course a few times on their twilight rate, which is a steal for this course! Decided to go again this past Sunday with great weather and some friends that hadn't played the course yet. They loved it! Great looking holes and if your a good golfer playing off the back tees will give anyone a nice challenge. For a busy Sunday the pace of play was great. The marshals did thei job with such friendliness and non of that snobbiness I'v seen at other courses.! Had a chance to get some food as we were making the turn. the girl on the grill and beverage service were great! We will be back this coming weekend! Nice to see such a scenic course!
Pin placement
The people setting up pins at Chehalem need to read the USGA guidelines. There were at least 3 pins placed within 2.5 paces of the edge of a green. Number 9 was placed about 7 feet on the green over a bunker on what is already a very challenging approach - pretty much impossible. Tough pins are fine - but they need to reward good shots. #2 was 2.5 paces from the front edge.
Big bang for your buck
A truly humbling course tucked away in the Portland Metro area. Lots of hills and ravines on the back nine that can get you into trouble. Overall a really fun course.
Nice Course, but not very friendly people
Course is challenging and well laid out. The staff could use a lot of help in the nice department.
this course has great features
Very good golf course and fair price! Nice staff..
Weekly Game
Good day to play 18, the course was in good shape but the greens were plugged two weeks ago, so a little sandy.
Good winter course
Great condition and drains well. Nice staff. Clubhouse is nothing special. Good carts and rates"...........
Good shape for February...
Greens/fairways were great... rough was punishing. 5+ hours to play. Not much for food but the staff was super and there was a cart on the course already.
