Loving the progress
I’ve played this course intermittently for about two years now. Always loved the layout but pace of play, condition of the greens, and issues with water and drainage always overshadowed the design. This was my first time back since they’ve re-opened and greens are night and day difference. Bermuda is still coming in and I know they intend have them fully ready for summer. Loving how it’s coming along. Also very intrigued by the new clubhouse blueprints and intended layout. Hoping that things stay the course continue to improve because this course has always had fantastic potential! Keep up the good work, trust me, people are noticing and I’ve had some discussions during the course of other rounds at different locations and the buzz is certainly positive!
Course is improving.
New ownership is getting the course in better shape. The greens looked to be recovering from some neglect, but probably not much they can do until spring. Even with less than ideal greens, the fairways and course layout made for an enjoyable round.
Nice Comeback
Played King’s Creek for the first time over the summer and it was in bad shape. New owners have made major improvements to the greens and bunkers and have big plans beyond. Staff was super friendly. We’ll be regulars!
Need GPS
You need a GPS. No ... not for distances to the green but to know how to find the next hole! :) -- there are no helpful signs showing the way, there are no markers indicating which tee box you are on. Once you play the course a few times you'll figure it out. But the first couple of times can be confusing. There is a bridge that has been out for 8-9 months that creates a very odd detour after you hit your tee shot on 18. There appears to be an extra set of tees that are not shown on the score card yet.
New owners new course
You can really tell that the new owners are committed to getting this course back in shape. Although dormant, the fairways were well maintained, the rough was thick and the new greens are coming in nicely. They did a great job sprigging them. The new clubhouse construction is starting soon. Hopefully they can maintain it with the amount of ply that it’s going to be receiving.
They ARE Back
I have played her a dozen or so times over the last 5 years. It slowly become run down and not worth the time or money spent. They have changed ownership a few times to from what I've learned. The last time I played there, I swore was the last time I would play there.
So.... they closed it down for a few months, and gained new ownership too. Today was the first day re-opening, and I decided to see what changed. Really a good course now, and soon will be great. This should be my go-to course from here on. It's local, affordable and being well developed. If you played here before, then come back and give it another shot. Really glad for the improvements, turned out great.
It's days are numbered
poor conditions, it appears that there is a plan in place. I saw excavators. The land is being prepped for building. They've allowed the course go in disrepair. It's only time before this course is history.
Great course, horrible greens
Great course and lay out, but as an 8 handicap golfer, I was extremely disappointed with the greens. Some of them are half sand and just got irrigated. Of course no one at the course or on GolfNow, this was not stated. The Crossing discounted their rates because their greens were being irrigated and that’s what they should have done at Kings Creek. Worth $30 not $45.
Also, no Covid procedures are being taken!! Staff was not wearing masks inside and let everyone in the club house at the same time. Will not be back :/
Do not pay to play this course
Disappointment is an understatement. I should have known when the weather was perfect and the parking lot was empty that the course would have trouble. One of the staffers told me the owners are in bankruptcy so they aren't spending money on the course. It shows. The good thing is pace of play was great because no one else was there! I don't know where to start. The moon presents a flatter putting surface than most of these greens. Some of them are half-covered in sand. There were leaves in several areas of the course. My calendar says July but there were leaves because the trees are dying. The fairways were mowed but if you missed 6 inches you were never going to find your ball in the un-cut bermuda. Even just right off the green the grass wasn't cut. There are hundreds of bunkers on this course, none of them appear to have been raked since the Bush administration. This course is full of potential with a challenging layout but it's not worth your money to go here right now.
Greens were bad
Greens were slow and had burnt areas all over. Sand on greens from the damage made course hard to play
Neglected & Abused.
Let me start by saying this course layout is wonderful, but from the moment you pull into the parking lot the place feels neglected. Tee it off on the oceanic waves of Bermuda if you find a level spot you better mark it for next round. The rough is so thick and littered with weeds it’s impossible to track a ball. Hit it in the fairway you say? Avoid the damaged areas and steer clear of the nutsedge and crabgrass. Bring some extra balls cause the first cut will eat your ball alive too. Find sand and your next shot is off concrete. Once you finally make it to the green you’ll be moving your ball all day to find a putt that doesnt involve bouncing off damage or divots. If those don’t get you the areas aerated over top of fungus will surely throw you for a loop. Also the bridge has been out for over a year now... causing more damage to number 10.
Someone please save this place before it’s to late. What use to be a joy and bargain to play has quickly turned into a waste of money and time.
I wouldn’t recommend spending $50 for this course. Spend an extra $20 and head North of town.
They must be selling this course
Course was in horrible shape! Weeds, grass clippings and entire greens un-puttable. They must be selling and just squeezing all the money they can out of it.
Bad greens great layout
The greens are slow and in disrepair with burnt out spots, very slow and soft. The layout and fairways are great. The bunkers have red algae where they are not draining and have not been maintained.
Be aware
The green conditions were terrible. The grass was uncut in at least a day or maybe even two. The grass was so long on the greens, I’ve never seen anything like it. The fairways has 2ft weeds sticking up at random locations. The greens were also burnt with lots of sections of grass completely missing. For their price this is absolutely not worth going to ever.
Course starting to go downhill
For what they are charging to play you would expect so much more... luckily I was able to get a discounted rate thru Golfnow. Which made it worth what I paid.
As far as the course, the greens are in horrible condition, anything off the fairway good luck finding.... They have let the grass grow entirely too high.
This course has potential to be one of the better courses in the area. It just needs to be taken care of properly.
I think this course will be sold shortly and become part of the housing development they are currently building throughout the corse. Therefore explaining the current conditions and upkeep..
Bad Greens. Maintenance Weak
Used to be a nice course . Good layout with potential of 5-6 great holes. Pick any random green, it’ll have 50% bare spots. Grass growing in traps. Greens haven’t been mowed, where there is grass. My guess I’ll be closed and become a subdivision in a year
