Cattail Crossing Golf & Winter Club
About
Located just five minutes northwest of Edmonton, Cattail Crossing Golf & Winter Club (formerly konwn as Hunters Green Golf Club) is spread across gently rolling terrain accented with a smattering of mature trees. At just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, the golf course doesn't use length to intimidate. The plentiful water hazards serve that purpose. Golfers will have to contend with water on 11 holes and your golf management skills will be tested with each one. Several holes present a difficult choice between going for it and laying up, a difference that could be between making par or adding multiple strokes. There are several tricky holes but the golf course isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper. The wide fairways offer some room for error. There is also a driving range available at Cattail Crossing Golf & Winter Club.

Overall decent
Pace of play a little slow. Marshall needs to pair up twosomes being let out. Spreading out tee times even by a couple minutes would likely help. Grass near tee boxes quite long except on eyes. Doesn’t help bug issues. Overall not bad.
When we got to the 16 hole we saw about 6 or 8 carts on hole 17. Not quite sure what that was all about. Don’t understand why they allowed that. Luckily we joined with the three fellows ahead of us and waited with them. Not a very professional course. We play for fun and move along quickly always. Kind of frustrating to think this course allows that. Have golfed this course for at least 20 years.by the way what’s with the lack of lighting in the ladies bathroom
Cattail Crossing
Course is a nice layout and greens are good. Fairways could use some attention to cutting. Cart paths are unpaved so can be dusty. Pace of play was good considering it was booked full.
Golf pass DID NOT reserve our tee time! When I phone to ensure we had a tee time the course had no booking. BEWARE.
Could be better
Would be nice to marshals on course monitoring pace of play. Greens in good shape. Fairways looking pretty good as well. Sometimes they’ll let beginner foursomes onto course that are pace of play killers.
Cautious
Some tee off boxes are right behide a green of a
Par 3 hole. Have to watch for balls that are over shot
the green. Fairway very close together with a 10 ft hill between fairways. I was on practice green and a ball from hole 18 bounced by me. The edge of 18 green
Is by practice green.. should wear hard hat.
Hard Hat
Fairways very close together. Some tee off boxes
are right behind Par three holes. Felt like I should have a hard hat on.
Pace of play
Our tee time was at 924 am. They were already backed up and we didn't start to play until 940am. Course was so backed up we didn't finish until 220 pm.
Challenging track
Course is in great shape and very well maintained.
Will need to think your way around the course. Lots of opportunities to make birdies, or ballon your scores playing into hazards or tough rough.
Give the geese a wave to get outta the way before shooting your ball at them 😉
