Vulcan Golf and Country Club

About
Vulcan Golf & Country Club sits on the outskirts of the town. The layout sprawls across gently rolling terrain accented with stands of mature trees. The course measures to just over 6,300 yards from the back tees. It's gentle enough for beginners but also great for more advanced players who are looking for a casual round that can be played in less than four hours. The golf course starts with a gentle front nine with water only coming into play twice. Don't be lulled into a sense of comfort though, the course becomes progressively more difficult, culminating with the signature 18th hole. Water appears again on six holes on Vulcan's back nine, including on the final par-3 hole. Water borders the entire left side and there are also a slew of bunkers protecting the large green.

Excellent course
Excellent course with good variance between front and back 9.
Great way to celebrate Canada day
That was the 3rd time this year
That we played Vulcan.
Evertime I go I am more impressed
With the staff, especially Barb!
Always very pleasant, competent,
Runs a great course!
Of all the southern Alberta courses
That we play Barb impresses me
The most, and that is why we will
Go play Vulcan a few more times
Before the season is over.
Well worth the 1 hour commute from
My house.
Thank you Barb
Course is in good shape
Fairways are nice and green, the greens are in good condition, rolling straight. Definitely better than other country courses we've played recently.
Vulcan hidden gem
We play this course a few times a year, greens were in perfect shape, fairways good to very good. Moderate difficulty, very nice course
Good course and price for a bit of a drive.
Always enjoy this course with the great price off of Golf Now. Bit of a drive from Calgary, but worth it. Course is in great shape, only issues were some winter kill on a couple of fairways which was minor and a bit of wind to contend with.
Great Value and Decent Layout
Course is in great shape at the moment. They have some incredible deals on GolfNow, so I'd definitely say it's worth the drive from Lethbridge or Calgary if you can get one. Layout is pretty good - front 9 is tree-lined with small greens and tight in places, back 9 is newer with a "links style". This type of design (a traditional 9 with a newer "linksy" 9 added) seems to be prevalent in small town Southern Alberta. To me the back 9 is easier than the front, but I imagine if the wind starts blowing that might not always be the case. It's a bit strange finishing on a par 3, but it's actually a pretty good hole. All in all, I'd recommend this course, especially if you can find a deal online. I paid less than $40 after taxes and it included a cart. Tough to beat that price anywhere for a decent course like this.
Good shape for this time of the year
Greens are very slow and the fairways are starting to fill in again. For this time of the year, no complaints. Very windy but not much you can do about that. However because of the wind, we had the course to ourselves, it was great!
Vulcan Gem
Excellent course old 9 and new 9 make it exciting to play
