Worth the Drive, Value, Conditions, Challenge
Had a great day playing Fort Langley golf course even though was drizzling for 16 holes, sun came out for 17/18.
Offers a good selection of holes and shots
Doglegs Left and Right.
Straightway longer holes.
Varying elevations, uphill, downhill.
Few Blind shots so playing in with someone that has course knowledge is a plus.
I would consider the slope rating low for the challenge.
Tee Boxes, Fairways and Greens are in Good condition.
Don't look for breaks, most aren't there.
Moderate walk, not easy w/elevation/length.
MUST HAVE BUG SPRAY!
Decent Course For the Money
The Fort Langley course is decent for a quick outting. We finished our round in under 4 hours so the pace of play was good. Just keep in mind that this course is very low frills with a lot of older members using walking carts. What I mean by that is that is that there is NO cart girl and the power carts available are pretty old and not to quick if you’re use to playing higher end courses. All in all, not a bad course for the money.
course in good condition, as a visitor, we had to rent pull carts and the ladies power cars(expensive $36/for power cart) which added quite a bit to the cost of the hot deal
Frank
bugs
The course was in very good shape but for the first time this year the infamous Fort Langley mosquito infestation was evident. If the weather is calm bring bug spray...lots of it.
Not for me
Great deal on GolfNow so thought I would try this course again. Then I hit the first hole and I remembered why I had only played it once! A brutal opening hole that required a long walk up a very steep hill -- and side hill, downhill, and uphill lies on the way. Brutal opening hole. Even the starter said it was about time to do something about the design. Hole #16 also was also a killer: a steep walk to start and a 45 degree climb at the end, to the green. I and my partner were exhausted. Overall, too many uphills and downhills, and too many small, elevated greens that were tough to hit, and nothing pretty or special to compensate. Too much work and too many challenges for an amateur like me (and I can hit the ball). Play this course if you're in good shape or willing to rent a cart!
A Little Slow On Back 9
Course was in pretty good condition considering it is the beginning of May. Greens were a little slow, and some boggy spots Golf carts a little stinky.
We started off the front 9 at a very good pace. For some reason the back 9 bogged right down. Not sure if someone jumped in or what.
Overall a pretty good round.
Good value for your money
It was a nice little track, with enough challenge for myself (5-10hdcp) but easy enough that my wife enjoyed herself as well (just starting 30ish hdcp).
dryer than expected
I have always enjoyed playing this course but I remembered it as being very wet in the Winter. They must have done something since then because the course was in surprisingly good shape. Some of the greens must have had an issue because they are splicing new sod into some of them. Nonetheless I didn't find the conditions of the greens to be a serious issue.
Too slow
They need to get the groups going faster, 4.3/4 hours was to long but course was in good shape.
Winter golf
First semi sunny day. My birthday. The course was in good condition even after our recent rain and snow. Fairways need a trim but were good after being so wet.
Good Value - decent winter conditions
Pretty dry day, course played well. Compared to other local courses you cannot beat the value. Greens are bumpy and show signs of previous punching but overall - no complaints. As for the off course amenities, they could use some improvement. No ready to go sandwiches or anything available, snack shack at the turn is closed for the season (understandably) but try MARKETING - put up a sign on course and allow players to call in a lunch order before the turn... Easy Right?
They They will lock the golf course and we need to finish quickly
Interested to be first time, people is locking their golf course, we are the last group, also the only group to play for the last few holes, our tee time is 12:56pm, finished about 5:15pm, normal for most course, is it not?
Thanks to allow us to play and finish our round, although a little Snow Flurry and cold, enjoyed.
