Lush fairways carve through the sand that was once the riverbed of the North Thompson giving way to dunes that transform into vast waste areas and challenging bunkers. The Dunes is proud of being tournament ready every day, with each fairway leading to a meticulously groomed green. Great course, Welcoming staff
Check in at the Pro shop and we were greeted by a very Proffesional Attendant that confirmed our tee time and informed us of all the amenities available at The Dunes. We had a Great breakfast at the Restaurant, made use of the first rate practice facilities and enjoyed a very challanging and entertaining 18 holes of golf. The course was in Great shape and back dropped by Beautiful Kamloops scenery. We will be back!

So much potential
The important things first
Greens and fairways are in very good condition
Greens ran true, speed was consistent obvious high number of golfers based on ball marks
Sand traps spear to slowly being fixed but many are weed infested and lack sand. A definite negative. Driving range not sure what to say but it’s really beat up, either over use or lack of maintenance. I suspect it being free for all means substantial over use. #9 has a GUR that makes no sense 2 of our group hit into it and lost balls a truck of soil or sand would likely alleviate this wet are (pretty stupid)
#6,#7,#18 there are water hazards and they are a mess, on #7 a giant pile of soil or debris is sitting there a real eye-sore and frankly just laziness not to remove it, #6 and #18 simply need some care, clean up the edges and make them more eye appealing #18 could be a signature hole but right now it just looks un maintained and the sand that used to be prominent along the full length is slowly being over-grown. I like the course but it seems the core items are getting good care while other things are being totally ignored. I did note and appreciate all the rough areas were trimmed and relatively open thus pace of play was excellent

Smoky round
The course was in great shape, the smoke from forest fires was not a hindrance. Very few people playing it was like we had the course to ourselves. The course ref even made sure we had water!
