Lush fairways carve through the sand that was once the riverbed of the North Thompson giving way to dunes that transform into vast waste areas and challenging bunkers. The Dunes is proud of being tournament ready every day, with each fairway leading to a meticulously groomed green. Through golfnow player this course for 20 bucks taxes in after a tourny. Was the only one on the course!

Absent course Marshall
This was our first time playing at The Dunes. Beautifully manicured course however there is absolutely no way to map out the play ahead. There are many rolling hills which obscure the players view. No view platforms to help with getting a view of the fairway ahead. No picture signs or maps st the tee boxes and (this was weird) the score cards provided did have a course diagram but impossible to read due to the tiny print of the tee numbers. We used our phone camera to magnify this and discovered that the numbers on the diagram.were obscured somehow. It was very frustrating. The price point for green fees is approximately the same as many championship courses in BC so we did have higher expectations. We will most likely choose to golf elsewhere in future.

Nice course, but brutally slow pace of play
Five hour round of golf, and we were surrounded by carts! Where are the course marshals? This course doesn't seem to have any. Players behind hit into us - TWICE. Nice track though, decent greens (does anyone repair ball marks anymore?!) although the bunkers were like hitting out of wet concrete. I'll come back on day where there are fewer golfers who need a lesson in golf edicate, and golf itself. By the way, please send that lady who "welcomed" in the pro shop us to golf charm school. How to put this nicely? She could use a brush up on how to cheerfully welcome the green fee players - that's what keeps courses like the Dunes open.

Have been golfing for about 6 years and The Dunes at Kamloops is my go to. Friendly staff, beautiful scenery, and a joy to play. The venue also has a variety of events for the Westsyde community including excellent service.

Great all around course
Purchased a VIP membership this year, golf 1-2 times on the average per week, rarely have a issue booking a day or 2 in advance . Carts are good although the course is easily walkable. Staff friendly and helpful, cart girl friendly and always has a smile. Took some lessons earlier this year ( took some a few years ago as well) Bill is quite a good teacher ,spends the time with you to make sure you are doing it correctly from the start. I like golfing Dunes ,for the money you can't beat it ( VIP membership deal). Look forward to going soon.

Great pace
Lots of players on the course, but I got around in under 3 hours. Excellent pace to the greens.

Enjoyable round on a links style course. The course is in great condition, although I found the greens slower than expected. This is the second time I have played here, and would come back again.

Great course, hard but not brutally hard. Fairways and greens in great condition . Excellent clubhouse and food and beverage to finish off with.

Man-made mounding a bit of overkill
The Dunes was probably my least favorite of the six courses I played in Kamloops. That's not entirely a knock on the course, but more a testament to the depth and quality of the golf in the region.
Man-made mounding defining fairways and separating holes just isn't the style of architecture I'm looking to play. To me, it symbolizes the artificial design characteristics that failed golf in the 1990s-2000s before minimalism made a triumphant return.
That said, there's nothing wrong with this course. It's perfectly playable and enjoyable. For the price point - generally less than $50 Canadian - and what you get condition-wise, it's actually a strong value. I'm guessing that's why most golfers give it four and five stars.

OK Course - Friendly Staff
This course has lots of man-made mounds and man made rolling fairways which make it imperative to keep the ball in the fairway and even when you do, you can have awkward side hill and downhill lies. There is lots of tall grass that catches wayward shots and can slow down play. The greens were in great shape and the fairway conditions were OK. The staff was very nice. These types of courses with all the extreme man-made terrain are not my cup of tee.

Good for price
No one really out there so we bombed through the course. Was in good condition and greens were nice and fast. Price was right but no beer cart girl. Haha

Great day despite the mosquitoes
The course played well. I played well. My only negative is the condition of the on course washrooms. Dirty, unkept, weeds in the flower pots, weeds at the entrances. Unfortunate to me as the mark in this area.

Course was in overall very good condition. Pace of play slow, took almost 5 hours.

Slow
We started 20 minutes late. The course Marshall didn’t start anyone on time. We were bottlenecked all day. We left after 14 holes because we were already over the 4 hour mark. Price was fine. Course was in decent shape. Greens were fine, a couple with some winter stuff on them still. People were driving carts on the greens and there was no thought to pace of play.
