About
Tobiano Golf Course stretches across more than 1,000 acres of rugged terrain located at the heart of British Columbia's interior. Situated on the site of the historic Six Mile Ranch, a famous cattle ranch known for its Red Angus breed, the golf course offers a golfing experience unlike any other. It's the highest-ranking public golf course in B.C. and it's the sixth best public course in all of Canada. The beautiful landscape and its natural features inspired the Thomas McBroom design. McBroom also utilized the stunning views of the lakes and mountains that stretch from every direction. Notable holes include the no. 1 handicap hole, the intimidating par-5 eighth, and the trio of holes beginning with the fourth, all of which are par 4s. Tobiano is a golf course that is challenging from the intimidating first tee to the undulating green on the final hole.

Golfer Reviews
Fantastic Layout
Having travelled to play golf a lot, I was somewhat disappointed by the courses I’d played in Canada until I got to Tobiano.
The layout here is fantastic and tests all parts of your game including your course management. You will be rewarded for plotting your way around rather than just trying to overpower it.
The biggest disappointment was the pace of play. When we arrived at the starter he informed us PoP was expected to be 4.5-5hrs. We were shocked. Even more so later on when we were having to wait on every single shot. There was a 4ball playing a scramble holding up the entire field and despite playing as a 2ball behind them, they refused to let us through and even when we spoke to the Marshall, nothing was done. A real shame as the course was great.
Even with the PoP issue, I highly recommend, especially to the better golfers who will appreciate the layout more than the slightly more erratic golfer.
Poor Experience at ProShop
After playing this course many time, my last round included poor service at the ProShop. While visiting Kamloops with my family from the east coast, we wanted to play a round with my parents attending as a ride along (since they do not play). The pro shop attendant, after considering my request for 3 seconds, told me that this was not an option and informed me that my parents couldn’t ride along with us.
I found this odd and questioned the attendant on it. In October, 2024 I had my brother visit me in Kamloops, specifically to play Tobiano. He broke a bone weeks before his trip which rendered him incapable of playing but he was allowed to attend the course with me as a ride along for a fee. When I brought this up, the attendant was annoyed about my response and indicated that it was impossible for anyone to attend as a ride along.
However, the issue eventually got resolved. After some explaining by another family member, the attendant reluctantly allowed the ride-along. Unfortunately, the whole experience left me with a negative view of Tobiano.
Unfortunately just hit a day where the wind was too much, on the back nine. Really slowed the pace of play. Otherwise outstanding place
A must play every year
As usual it was fairly busy in the afternoon so the marshal asked us if we wanted to start on #10. By the time we got back to #1 the front nine was all clear. We played the course in 3:45. Thanks to the thoughtful staff we had a great day.
First Time
This by far was the best course I have ever golfed at. I have golfed in many places around the world and by far this is one of the most interesting, challenging and fun course. The views are absolutely amazing. The course despite being April 1st was in great conditions and the greens were fantastic. Worth every penny.
Great experience
Everything was first class and my hot deal discount was well worth it.
Challenging Round
Started warm up in the wind and rain. Teed off in the wind and light rain. Cleared up by the 5th hole and was just windy. Sun came out on the 9th and stayed till the 15th. Through all of this the course played the same. Down wind holes one less club, into the wind holes 1-2 clubs more. You need to be very accurate or you are in tall grass or rocks. Easy to lose your ball even if you see it enter the tall grass. Many elevation changes. I would not suggest walking the course as it is quite a distance between some holes. I even got lost teeing off 13. Signage would have helped me. I found it difficult to get a read on the greens. It was my first time playing the course though. You have to be very accurate on the par 3’s as they are over a gully (not sure if that word does it justice). It was a test of your skills and I would play it more conservatively next time. Found a good rate on GolfNow. I actually got a chip in birdie on the hole that the video shows.
