Course condition
The course conditions were deplorable not worth the $49.00 charged for walking. The greens, all of them, were bald ( plain dirt ) in many places. Will never play here unless conditions improve dramatically.
Availability & course condition
There are helps at the office counter to book tee-times very friendly, if you walk in, you can play more than 90% for sure. The course condition is good enough on fair ways and greens, The course is actually very challenging for all kind of skill. You don’t need to be a long hitter but you need a lot of accuracy to play and have low score
Greens are fried, fairway grass is dry and yellow
I guess the summer drought has really dried up the course. Greens are quite bad now. Lots of HUGE dry and bare patches. Fairways feature dry fried yellow grass on rock hard dirt.
Fairways shots are difficult right now. I think you need a jackhammer to make a divot...
Nice course, but its in rough shape. Wait until Springtime...
Garbage condition course
The green were awful garbage on course was pretty pathetic for the amount you pay sad😔
Love the course layout
Good walking course. Some green were damaged by the heat which didn’t rain in a month . So many courses had the same problem. Fairways were dry too. But you can’t complained you just paid under $50 a round here. Love the course layout.
Great course for the cost
Great course! We have played there couple of occasions and had a great time. Watch out for the line of trees between holes as these can be an unexpected hazard.
Great Course
Fairways obviously a little burnt right now due to lack of any rain. Was surprised the greens were actually over-watered and mushy.. lot of footprints and just general squishiness. My guess is they are trying to save them from dying over this dry spell.. which is a tall task. 37$ after 2pm though I will not argue with conditions.. just happy to get a t-time in this area....
If they can put more money to maintain the course
Condition was below average but what can you expect for pay under $50 a round for prime time . And pay under $40 after 1pm . Love the layout of the course which was very fun to play there. Each hole have different character . If you don’t mind the fairway condition , green had some dry spots but can manageable.
IT WAS A WARMER DAY FOR VANCOUVER, 97*, BUT THE COURSE IS IN GOOD CONDITION ALL AROUND, would be good to play it more often to get to know the challenges better, shot 77, five over, not bad, I am a happy camper
Horrible
Newlands used to be great for a great price. I used to play it once a week. I was very disappointed to see this year they increased the price by aprox. 30$ and started over booking it. When i went we finished 40 mins behind schedule, i saw groups of 5 on the coarse, there is goose poop everywhere, and nobody fixes their divots on the greens. Ill never play here again. Id suggest paying 5$ more for a coarse that doesn't over book their tee times.
Great staff, slow play
The course was in good condition but the pace of play was slow - 5 hour round. Very friendly staff, but only one server/bar tender in the pub doing her best to serve more than 50 customers.
