Over booked
Almost five hours to play. Over booked and tee times too close together. 7 minutes apart. There were three groups ahead of us on the tee box. When it was our turn there were four groups waiting .Had a two group wait for the first four holes then got a bit better. It was a long game. Did not see a marshall once.
Great value full length course
Once again found this course a terrific value. Plenty of lengthy holes with uphill downhill doglegs and water. While the ample greens show a bit of how popular this course is and in early November accumulating leaves are a seasonal nuisance, I think the staff should be commended for keeping up with it as well as they do day in and day out. Thank you Newlands for keeping your green fees reasonable. I will be booking again soon.
Wet golf
Well usually we are in California playing golf in the warm sun but not this year. We booked a few days ago and then the skies opened up yesterday and it got a bit wet.Today the weather was not to bad so we thought we would go and play anyway the course was very wet and only the front nine was open cart path only we made it around before the rain started so not a total wash.
Slow play, no starter, no marshals, too many flights/players
Our tee time was in the afternoon - we started a bit later for no apparent reason and had to wait between 5 and 15 minutes on each hole - so with the early darkness, we could only complete like 9 holes in 2 and a half hours.. Flights are at 7 minute intervals - which is very dense in COVID times. All other COVID measures are in place. There is no starter, and there are no marshals keeping an eye on the pace of play. The course is in only fair shape shape as can be expected this time of the year but there is no reason for players to not repair pitch-marks. There are may geese on the course and hence lots of goose pooh - there doesn't seem to be any effort made to keep the course clean. Seems the facility is more interested in raking in green fees than providing a nice golfing experience. Sorry - not coming back.
Great Day for Golf!
Had a great day golfing at Newland’s Golf Course. For the time of year, the fairways and greens were in pretty good condition. The bunkers had water and were hard, but again it is that time of year. Overall a very good experience
Course
Beautiful course in good condition. Cart broke down causing delays. Staff could be more supportive.
Tight and Hokey!
Course extremely narrow, balls everywhere, at least 6 very hokey holes around galleys, very narrowly. Small little greens which were extremely slow and full of holes.
Would never play here again. A beginners course but it is bound to deter the beginner from every playing again due to the difficulty
Quantity over Quality
At Newlands sure, they offer great value, $32 to play a full sized course. Except, you have to wait at every hole for the group in front of you. And they didnt have enough space for a par 72 but they squeezed it in anyways. A lot of holes have extremely narrow fairways because of this. If you play here bring a helmet. Oh they do have more space, actually, its called the executive course. If they had used the space fully this course could have been so much better. Only worth if you are new to golf and want to play for cheap.
