Comfortable as my back yard.
It is really close by from my house and the surroundings, environment, cost is very satisfied. I love this place and I alway recommend this course to everybody. It is not a easy course which I like. It is challenging which make me practice more.
Good Price. Good Pace. The Greens were great.
It’s a good course for the price. It is challenging because of some narrow fairways. It’s not too easy, and not too hard.
Course repair
With a small amount of repair to the fairways and tee boxes this course could be great!
Needs a fair bit of work
I've played a number of rounds at Newlands over the year and realize that it is not a top tier golf course. Hence the reason it is cheaper to play than most. That being said, it is currently in pretty rough shape. A few of the holes the fairways are almost in too poor of shape to play and most of the tee boxes provide unleveled stances. Although I had a relatively early tee time the pace of play was very slow. A round at Newlands should be under 4 hours but it took about 5 hours to play yesterday. After the first hole we had to wait to hit every shot. Minimum 5 minute wait on most t boxes. On the positive, the staff at the proshop was, as always, first rate. Also, as I said at the beginning, the price to play was cheap ($30). Just know that, as with most things in life, you get what you pay for.
Slow play
Pace of play was incredibly slow and there was no course Marshalls to assist in speeding up play.
Ok course
First hole got backed up behind 3 groups and the holes layouts were not great. Ended up having to leave at the 10th hole due to the backup in golfers and we were at 4.5 hours already.
