Thorncreek Golf Club

About
The golf course at Thorncreek Golf Club is a public, 18-hole course in the city of Thornton. The course features 7,268 yards of golf from its longest tees, playing to a par of 72. Designed by Finger Dye Spann, Inc., the course has a links-style layout. A unique aspect of the course is that a street separates the front nine holes from the back nine. Lakes that are situated on the course create water hazards that come into play on a few holes. Thorncreek Golf Club's signature hole is the par-4, 18th hole, which has a fairway with a water hazard along one side.

Great course and will challenge any golfer
We have played the course several times this year and it has been in great shape. Staff is always friendly. A good deal for the money.
TIght track with a lot of character
Great bang for the buck. The course is tight and challenging, you'll have to use more than just your driver on a lot of holes. A thinking man's course. The greens are fast and undulating. A few of the greens were down right small. The holes definitely all have character.

Course needs some attention
Took a customer to play, somewhat disappointed in some areas of fairways and greens.
Fairways had several spots that I would consider "under repair". Some greens were extremely bumpy. Still I enjoyed the round.
Course was in very good shape, weather perfect. Couldn't beat the price.
Thorncreek has always been one of my favorite courses. It seems to be in better shape since the change in management. The current rate on Sundays can't be beat.
Great deal on a great course
Thorncreek runs a "all you can play" special durring the NFL season on Sundays, and this was an amazing deal on a very well kept course. The fairways and turf were in fantastic shape for the middle of October. The greens were some of the most difficult I have ever played, with multiple tiers, slopes and major elevation changes. My only complaint was that the course really bogged down in the afternoon when we were ready to play our 2nd 18, but overall it was a fun time and I will be back.
Great views
Course in good shape. If you don't play fairways, bring lots of balls. We played for $19, at that price, a super bargain.
Fun Course
Course is fun, not too easy, not too hard. Greens were a little beat up, lots of unfixed divots. Pace was great.
Immaculate condition.
I flew in from Florida the day before I played this round. Maybe it's the switch between Bermuda and whatever grass was at this place (probably bent?), but it was like played on perfection. The rough was substantial but not impossible to play out of. The greens rolled as true as when I played Torrey Pines. For $24, this was an absolute steal. Would most definitely recommend.
oh no not again!
waited on every shot had 4 groups on one hole alone, left after 9 holes we couldnt take it any more. it was the second time in three weeks .it will be our last time
Great putting surface
Some of the fairways could use a little work. Might need some better irrigation. Traps, tees and greens in great shape, especially this late in the season.
Not very much bang for your buck!!!
If I hadn't got a deal on Golf Now and had to have paid full price to play this course, I would have been even more dissapointed than I already was. It started off with the gentleman working behind the counter in the Pro Shop. We'll just say that his people skills need a lot of work. The course was in terrible shape, bare spots that had turned to mud holes because of a little rain, standing water in some spots. Will not play this course again.
Fall golf at Thorncreek is surprisingly good!
I played over 10 years ago and it frankly wasn't all that memorable, but the improvements to the golf course have made it one that I'll come back to time and time again!
just a fun track that forgives and allows good scoring from good shots.
Lots of variation and some very tough holes... no. 2, no. 11, no. 18
Great value from Golfnow.
I will try again.

Great Condition, Great price
I usually play before 8 AM and because of that I get to take advantage of $25 green fees with a cart and what a deal. The course was in great shape when we went, the greens were being worked on, on the back 9 but the greens rolled true and the course was in great shape.
Good Course
Maintenance of the course has been a challenge for the operators of this facility. This year there has been a marked improvement in the fairways and the greens. Most of the bare spots are gone. Have always like the course. Much better now.
Great place to hone your game
Don't get into the rough on the uphill par 5! It's very deceiving. Looks like you can hit out of it...you cannot. Take your medicine and pitch to fairway. Certainly forget the hybrid. OK, don't believe me...you'll pay. Like many courses, you'll want to think about course managment here. It is easy, for eaxample, to lose your ball in well hidden hazards. (the left OB on the downhill par 5 because the fairway is angled, the water on...um, all the holes with water ;-) I break 80. Here, I was happy with an 85. Driver not necessary on every Tee. (10th hole, esp, try the 5 iron?) Think about every shot. No, really, think about it.
Great design. Finally getting the maintenance and care it deserves.
I've always liked the course design, but the condition was usually poor. Lately, the course condition has improved immensely, and I intend to play here more frequently.
Recently taken over by the city and has irrigation problems
The condition of the course is being improved from previous ownership. Front nine was drenched and back nine was mostly parched. One hole was being watered during play causing the need to dodge sprinklers. Am not thrilled with price bump. The casual, average golfer is being priced out of the game when it's already fading in popularity.

Good value, offers a challenge if you want it
I played this course from the furthest tees - from that distance it offers a good challenge. Course was in good condition (July 2012) and I think it's a real value at or less than $45.
