The Greens are in Bad condition
The staff here is awesome and Super Friendly .
The fairways and rough are in great shape right now but the greens are terrible. The greens were recently aerated and top dressed but that's not what the problem is. There are a lot of dead spots and whoever has cut the greens has cut into them leaving horrible marks, sometimes the length or width, of the green itself.
The bunkers were wet and not playable but if you want Golf North does promote the "lift, rake and play" rule
Still the value is great and the course for the most part is still fun to play.
swamp land course
This could be a quaint small course but they are charging similar rates to much better courses, this course is really a mostly par 3. The greens had debris, the landscapers we had to wait while they cut because they weren't stopping to allow us to play. There was only one friendly person who was a marshall at the course. Everyone else seemed old and miserable no thank yous or hellos. I was embarrassed to have brought friends there and we drove 30 minutes to try this course. Very narrow and swamps all over I think they just have let everything go.
Cost does not match course conditions
Ive played here many times over the years, but I think today was the last time I'll travel out to Acton to play this course. If you get a really good deal, and are just there to hit the ball, its ok. But if you are expecting more...I dont think you'll find it.
Tee boxes are extremely hard and bare. Very little grass, and basically just hard soil. Sand traps (if you'd like to call them that) are not maintained, tons of grass inside, very little sand, and full of rocks. So be careful with striking a ball.. you may damage your clubs.
The greens were extremely hard and are very small. Even the simplest chip will hit and roll off.
As well, check the yardages on an app or rangefinder, because much of the signage both on the tee and in the fairway are inaccurate.
But like I said, if you just want to hit a ball and get some practice in AND you get a good price for your round, then book it.
It has the potential to be a really fun course, but it just seems like each time I play there, the care and maintenance has just become less of a priority.
Looking at their green fees, it lists some close to $40 during the week. If the green fees are going to be in a certain range, you expect a certain level of play and quality. Here they are not. Spend the extra $10-15 and go somewhere you know will be enjoyable
Nice short layout
Course was short but has many tight holes needing an accurate tee shot. Tee boxes are in rough shape. Had to look for an even lie. Fairways were ok but needed cutting. Greens were fast. Course is nicely set among the trees.
Needs more work
There has been a fair amount of work done on the layout of the course, most of it making the course play better. However, the course was very dry, sand traps were like concrete, and tee blocks are really rough. You can tell work is being done, but I’ll give it more time before I go back.
Staff were not at all friendly, but not rude.
Short quick coure
Neat little course. Par 3s too short. Staff very friendly. Restaurants t excellant
Worst I’ve ever played
This course has not seen water since the last time it rained. Fairways and greens are rock hard the fairways are brown and patchy. Nothing at this course is maintained even the sand traps are like rock traps. I would not recommend playing here but for the price you get what you pay for I guess.
Course has potential but
Fairways were hard and dry and tee boxes were uneven and hardly had any turf. Seems like the tee placements had not been moved for a while judging from the lack of grass and numerous divots. Greens were in good shape though but relatively small. The hot and dry weather the past few weeks has really taken its toll on this course.
Met some nice friends on the course. Problem was waiting on the tee for the other groups to get ahead. Marshall never came around to speed play + our cart died on the course at the 6th hole.
Challenging back nine
Friendly staff. Pace was slow but to be expected when playing in the morning. Cooler temperatures make the course busier and slower. Love playing this course and make a point of playing it a few times a year. This course to golfer of all skill levels.
Acton Golf Course
Acton Golf Course is a shorter course with a few interesting holes that make you have to plan where you have to place your ball for the second shot into the green. As with all courses, you can find rough or trees easily enough so playing consistent straight golf is key to shooting a good score
