Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club - Pines Course
About
The Pines is one of three nine-hole courses at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club, which is located on the outskirts of Guelph. The Pines golf course shares a heavily forested landscape that is dotted with large ponds with the other two courses, the Willows and the Lakes. There is also a creek that winds through several holes. In addition to the water hazards coming into play, the Pines course also features several strategically placed, Ohio white sand bunkers. Each golf course at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club is uniquely designed to offer a great variety of interesting par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The golf courses offer something for players of every skill level

Course a bit burnt by the hot weather
There were a few greens that have serious heat damage due to the hot weather we had over the past three weeks. Teed off around noon on Monday and pace was excellent. There were no other golfers on the course on my back nine
I reserved online for a 9:09 tee off but when I got there they did not have my reservation noted. They did let us play though so that is good, just a heads up that something went wrong in the on line registry.
The only problem with playing was that there was 2 of us and we had a foursome in front of us and a threesome behind. Being a casual golfer it did not matter but some "better" players may not appreciate it.
Great time!
My son and I only play about twice a year and for the last couple of years, we’ve played Ariss and had a great time. Staff is excellent and course is well laid out.
Always a Fun Round
Always enjoy playing here. Would prefer a deal, but $70 a player not unheard of with Covid on a Sunday morning. Some burnt spots on the fairways and greens but considering no rain for so long, it is in very good condition. Greens are large and rolling...no easy putts. Carts are quiet and electric. Most of the time we end up on Willows and Pines, but today we got to play Lakes...very challenging with all the water in strategic spots. They didn't slip anyone in between our nines so we got done in under 4 hours! Great time!
Meh
It’s a nicely laid out course with nice views. The greens were awful and the fairways we’re not very well taken care of. It’s a little expensive for the condition of the course.
Dried out !
Course was very dried out in a lot of places. Greens were good but fairways very dry and hard. $40 cart fees way too much for this course. The new Covid fee's a guess ?
Enjoyable
Played on a hot day in July during COVID times. Staff were very friendly. Price at $60 for a weekday (with power cart) is high for this country course. Greens are HUGE so pay attention to where the flag is placed or you’ll 3 putt all day long. Greens were in OK shape considering the very dry conditions. Rough is outrageous, but it is everywhere during COVID times. T boxes and fairways just OK. Good variety of holes across three sets of 9. Many fairways wide and forgiving. Course is walkable but get a power cart on hot days. Worth checking out!
A solid course
Ariss Valley is a solid course. Plenty of variety in the 3 nines. Par is always in the conversation on any given hole along with double bogey (or worse). Things are a little baked right now but so is everywhere.
Passing along free bottles of water (at the clubhouse) was a nice touch in this heat. Came in handy.
Lost a fan
Well it was a hot day in July and I am a fan of Ariss length and challenge. So I went to one of my favourite tracks around Guelph. Unfortunately, I found the course to be a let down! It seems poorly managed as the greens are not taken care of and even some have weeds growing on a few edges! Burnt fairways and rough greens, then add workers around the course not respecting golfers hitting off the tees, made for a mediocre round. No-one fixing divots (except me) that were all over the greens and even right beside the pin affecting a number of putts. Sad! Well we hope the rain comes in to make this little stone a jewel again but them won't be seeing my money any time soon.
Decent, not special
It’s a decent course, but when you add up the issues it leaves you with a good, not great feeling. The fairways are cut way too long and are “furry”. Middle of this heat wave balls should roll when landed in the fairway and here you get a couple yards and done. Slow round for a 7:30am t-off when your back 9 is held up by groups placed in front.
Always a good round of golf . I do at least 4 rounds a season here and never to much to be disappointed about. Not to tough a course good for average golfers.
Fun course!
Great staff, great course for your money. All around awesome experience!
good round at a good course
tee off was right on time , was fairly busy but everyone was keeping pace, the course was in good condition, not many sand traps .....they were playable but not great . No issues so will play again there soon .
