Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club - Pines Course
About
The Pines is one of three nine-hole courses at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club, which is located on the outskirts of Guelph. The Pines golf course shares a heavily forested landscape that is dotted with large ponds with the other two courses, the Willows and the Lakes. There is also a creek that winds through several holes. In addition to the water hazards coming into play, the Pines course also features several strategically placed, Ohio white sand bunkers. Each golf course at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club is uniquely designed to offer a great variety of interesting par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The golf courses offer something for players of every skill level

Golfer Reviews
Enjoyable Day at Ariss Valley
It has been a dry summer and fairways were more than a little dry. Greens, however, were in very good shape and overall we had a very enjoyable day. The course had an interesting layout, with very large greens. Pace of play was very good. I would recommend course to anyone who wants a good value.
Good conditions, great value and pace of play
Played Ariss twice last week with family. Conditions were pretty good, considering we have had no rain recently. No one in front of us on the course, so we could play at whatever pace we wanted. Staff were great, friendly and very helpful.
Always a challenge
Love the course. Could use a little more TLC. Greens are fair but tough. Every hole is different. All levels would like this course. Pace on a weekend was excellent. Good to see marshals out keeping it rolling.
Price Reduction
Our foursome arrived to a near empty parking lot., Why? Because their regular rate is too high. Even with a Hot Deal we paid $50. This is a $40 w/cart max. course. Even with all the rain we’ve had the fairways were burnt. Though last time I was here, 20 years ago, it was in pretty rugged condition.
Wonderful day in the golf course
Even with the wind and spotty showers, we enjoyed our day in this beautiful course. Fairways were in great condition and greens were fun to putt on. Overall, we had a great day and will go back again.
Great open, brutal close
This was my first time golfing at Ariss Valley and after driving by it for 4 years on my commute I was extremely excited to play it finally. 820 tee time. Course wasn’t busy at all. Staff was very friendly. First 9 we played the Willow course and it was fantastic - exactly what I hoped for. Other than some players not fixing the ball marks on greens, everything looked great and felt like it was really a great course for the money.
Then we went to the Lakes course.
It was like night and day. Really really dried out, clumps of cut grass covered almost every single fairway to the point that even if you hit it right down the middle, chances are you’d have to go looking for your ball. Some bunkers looked like they hadn’t been touched by turf crew all year and had some serious weeds in them. Only 2/9 holes had distance stakes. Compared to the front 9 we had just played, it felt like we went from an $80-100 a round course to a “buck a hole” golf club.
Maybe we caught them on a bad day. But still I feel like the back 9 really cheapened the experience. Maybe the “Pines” course was in better shape, but feel like they should have at least given players the heads up that Lakes was in rough shape.
I’ll probably give the course another chance at some point, hoping for the experience I had on the Willow course.
Alright course
Was harassed by the Marshall for not paying for our carts even when we had the receipts to prelove it
Ariss Valley Golf Course
I played this course for the first time yesterday on a very windy day so that was a factor on a number of holes. But we have had a miserable season so far with lots of rain and they haven't been able to keep up with grass cutting so there were times when the grass was clumped or just a bit too high to find a ball on the fairway easily. Saying all of this, I would not hesitate to go back and play it again when conditions are better. The staff were exceptional and very friendly
so wet
The greens were excellent!
The weather has been so wet that they can't cut properly or remove grass cuttings so 4 players would hit the fairway and you couldn't find a ball.
On some holes you couldn't even tell that there was a fairway.
This had to be the worst conditions ever.
The course should not be open yet.
Course conditions very poor
Played there this past Saturday and haven’t played there in years but I had to write a review to tell people how poor the course conditions are
- fairways were as long as the rough would be on a good conditioned course. Would have trouble finding balls that were on the fairway due to extra grass remaining all over thee course
Cart path only which is normal but be prepared to walk a lot even with the carts.
This course should definately be discounted until the conditions are up to poor. I had a hot deal for 49$ and still should be cheaper . Charging people 70$ at regular rate is unbelievable
Golf Course is in awful shape
The rain this year has this course in a mess they told us that today is the first time they have been out to grass cut and sometimes we couldn't even find the Fairway. People are loosing ball's in the middle of the Fairway. I golf hear all the time and know this is a great course normally but you asked about today and it has to be the worst shape in 45 years of golfing and have never lost a ball in the middle of the Fairway due to cut grass or lang grass
Very poor conditions...
Unfortunately the weather has really played havoc with the course. Too much rain between cutting the fairways. As a result, fairway grass too long, many areas have not been cut, fairway grass is 3 to 6”, therefore hard to find your ball in fairway, where grass has been cut, lots of clumped grass, thick clippings everywhere. Understandably cart path only. Greens were good shape, seemed to have been rolled as they were quite fast. Lots of challenging holes even at best time without the poor conditions. Very disappointed with pro shop as they were very unsympathetic to the price paid for poor conditions. Drove one hour to play this course, ....poor conditions, really wet soft fairways, too much grass clippings, fairways not cut, long grass...just not a very good experience...and most disappointing was the lack of assistance from pro shop. DO NOT recommend this course ....poor value for the rate.....
Cow pasture
First time playing here this year. No fairways cut, uneven grass, poorest course conditions, fairways were regular rough any where else, greens spotty unkempt, twigs, leaves, debris on every green, cow pasture
Spring golf
FIrst things first... signing in at pro shop. There were two people there …. they were awesome and extremely respectful and friendly. VERY NICE,'
the course was very wet...but they all are around here this time of year.. TONS of rain. Greens were very good and fast for this time of year.
Beautiful views with lots of elevation changes
First time playing... Staff friendly an informative (never felt lost), Starter/Marshal friendly an organized... pace of play was non issue entire round.... tough course if you dont play the fairways, tough moving ball when in rough (thick an sticky)... Greens large with lots of character, 3 putting is in play almost every hole.... overall I enjoyed very much, might be pretty challenging for the average weekend warrior
