Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club - Pines Course
About
The Pines is one of three nine-hole courses at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club, which is located on the outskirts of Guelph. The Pines golf course shares a heavily forested landscape that is dotted with large ponds with the other two courses, the Willows and the Lakes. There is also a creek that winds through several holes. In addition to the water hazards coming into play, the Pines course also features several strategically placed, Ohio white sand bunkers. Each golf course at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club is uniquely designed to offer a great variety of interesting par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The golf courses offer something for players of every skill level

good condition , great greens
played the willows and the lakes, the lakes 9 were still a bit soggy in the low lying areas but I had a great time
Pace of play was a problem
The first nine went fine but my partner and I called after the first five holes in the back took 1:45 to play. Sandwiching in between mens night and a tournament just doesn't work.
mrafter,
We're so sorry to hear you were sandwiched between our Men's League and a tournament. This is an anomaly and we would love to have you out here to play again when there isn't so much going on.
Over booked
I showed up in time and had to wait an hour to tee off so I left.
Justin,
Wow, this is not what we like to see at all. Thank you for giving us 3 stars even in the wake of not being able to get on the course due to overbooking. Please get in contact me at arrissvally.ca@gmail.com to see if there is a way we can make this right.
hidden gem
Lovely course, good layout and friendly staff. 27 holes allows for good pace of play. Well maintained course with potential for challenging pin placements.

Not to bad
Course was in ok shape. There was no beverage cart. Greens were fun but slow. Price was reasonable. Too many holes were simliar in style and length. The ultimate 6 out of 10 course.
Mpb,
Thank you for the review. We will take all your comments into consideration. We hope you'll come play our continuously improving course again!
Dog sitting
Had to go to Guelph to let my son's dog out as he had a tournament that day.Found a fair price on golf now.Course is a little tight for me lots of big spruce to lose your balls under.Had sausage at the turn no real condiments to put on it.
Thank you for the review,
We're sorry to hear the course was a bit tight for your taste. I can assure you that after reading your review that we no offer a bevy of condiments at the turn. Thank you for the review, we've already taken action!
A day with our sons
Had a great time with our sons. A beautiful afternoon of really fun golf. Great coarse to practice the long ball.

Didn't like the Lakes 9
We played the Pines and Lakes. Pines was O.K. but Lakes layout was quirky with hazards placed in landing areas off tees. The Lakes payut was alos hard to follow both between holes and on the holes themselves. Would not recommend this course.
greg,
We're sorry to hear that out Lakes course did not live up to your expectations. We'll take your comments about course layout into consideration. Thank you for playing the course and we hope we get the opportunity to impress you in the future.
chuck
Conditions weren't great, very dry. Not too many people out so speed of play was good.
Sorry to hear conditions were a bit dry for you when you played. This is not generally a concern but it is one that we will take into serious consideration. Thank you for review.
Ariss
Good value for the money. Pace was ok. Easy to book and get in and out of.
Kurt,
glad to hear we provided convenience and value to you on your trip to Ariss Valley. We will continue to monitor pace of play. Thank you for the review.
course in good shape, green are very fast
we played in just 4 hours very well kept course lots of elevation changes lots of water.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the course. We hope you come play again! Thank you for the first review of the year!
Nice Layout
Nice course layout. Played Pines to Willows. Much more water and terrain than I was expecting. Some very nice holes on this course. Day was windy and cold when I golfed, making some of the holes quite challenging., especially into the wind. Course was very wet and soggy, even in the higher elevation holes. Even one green was soft and spongy. Drainage seems poor. Would recommend. Planning on coming back next year when its a little warmer and drier.
Challenging
Very challenging specially in wet conditions. I haven't shot over a hundred all season until this course.
Pleasant Walk
Ariss Golf remains a nice walk, and a good location for a quick 9 or 18 when time permits.
Clubhouse staff now pleasant, easy to get along with - nice and appropriate changes.
Bliss at Ariss
Discovered a gem only 20km from my door. Had a great round playing 2 of the 3 9s; Willows then Pines. Was surprised to see a Great Blue Heron guarding my birdie putt (missed it) on the Willows 8th! Very fast play, some tricky greens and some very nice holes. Lots of Geese on The Pines 2, they were safe on grass as I put two in the long pond beside the fairway. Other than that, all good!
moderate-lots of lost ball
this course have many sea gull , there white fur is very
confuse with your golf ball plus lots of tall grass. If you miss hit or even just roll off the rough you might not find
your ball.
great day
Booked online. Was seamless when I got there. Was a beautiful day. I was a single and had no real slow ups at all.
18 holes at ariss
course plays well once again accuracy off the tee is a must to score well. course quite wet due to all the rain but well maintained and for the most part greens in excellent shape
Very wet, but still played well
My wife an I played Ariss on a Sunday morning 2 days after a big rain fall, but the drainage on the course is poor. There was lots of casual water in many of the fairways, and the bunkers were either filled with water or compacted and unplayable.
Although the fairways and bunkers remained very wet the greens did play very well. They were soft and held approach shots with ease. I almost expected them to be slow but they were almost on the fast side. However, they ran nice and true and we're very well kept.
The course is quite hilly but still very walkable. We completed the front 9 in about 2 hours, but we collided on the Lakes with a few groups from the Pines playing the same back 9 as us. Although we waited a bit to tee off on 10, we still played in 4.5 hours.
I would recommend this course as long as there has not been a heavy rainfall a few days before.
Good for money
It's very good for the money. However, it's quite confusion in some holes. Neither map no staff tells the exact lay-out of the course.
rushgolf,
We're glad to hear you had a good time. Sorry to hear some of the low-lying spots were sogyy, but glad to hear the greens were rolling good! We hope you come out and see us again soon!
