Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club - Pines Course
About
The Pines is one of three nine-hole courses at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club, which is located on the outskirts of Guelph. The Pines golf course shares a heavily forested landscape that is dotted with large ponds with the other two courses, the Willows and the Lakes. There is also a creek that winds through several holes. In addition to the water hazards coming into play, the Pines course also features several strategically placed, Ohio white sand bunkers. Each golf course at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club is uniquely designed to offer a great variety of interesting par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The golf courses offer something for players of every skill level

Great Blue Heron on Willows 8th green. Photo submitted by u000006115569 on 10/02/2014
course in good shape, green are very fast
we played in just 4 hours very well kept course lots of elevation changes lots of water.
Nice Layout
Nice course layout. Played Pines to Willows. Much more water and terrain than I was expecting. Some very nice holes on this course. Day was windy and cold when I golfed, making some of the holes quite challenging., especially into the wind. Course was very wet and soggy, even in the higher elevation holes. Even one green was soft and spongy. Drainage seems poor. Would recommend. Planning on coming back next year when its a little warmer and drier.
Challenging
Very challenging specially in wet conditions. I haven't shot over a hundred all season until this course.
Pleasant Walk
Ariss Golf remains a nice walk, and a good location for a quick 9 or 18 when time permits.
Clubhouse staff now pleasant, easy to get along with - nice and appropriate changes.
Bliss at Ariss
Discovered a gem only 20km from my door. Had a great round playing 2 of the 3 9s; Willows then Pines. Was surprised to see a Great Blue Heron guarding my birdie putt (missed it) on the Willows 8th! Very fast play, some tricky greens and some very nice holes. Lots of Geese on The Pines 2, they were safe on grass as I put two in the long pond beside the fairway. Other than that, all good!
moderate-lots of lost ball
this course have many sea gull , there white fur is very
confuse with your golf ball plus lots of tall grass. If you miss hit or even just roll off the rough you might not find
your ball.
great day
Booked online. Was seamless when I got there. Was a beautiful day. I was a single and had no real slow ups at all.
18 holes at ariss
course plays well once again accuracy off the tee is a must to score well. course quite wet due to all the rain but well maintained and for the most part greens in excellent shape
Very wet, but still played well
My wife an I played Ariss on a Sunday morning 2 days after a big rain fall, but the drainage on the course is poor. There was lots of casual water in many of the fairways, and the bunkers were either filled with water or compacted and unplayable.
Although the fairways and bunkers remained very wet the greens did play very well. They were soft and held approach shots with ease. I almost expected them to be slow but they were almost on the fast side. However, they ran nice and true and we're very well kept.
The course is quite hilly but still very walkable. We completed the front 9 in about 2 hours, but we collided on the Lakes with a few groups from the Pines playing the same back 9 as us. Although we waited a bit to tee off on 10, we still played in 4.5 hours.
I would recommend this course as long as there has not been a heavy rainfall a few days before.
Good for money
It's very good for the money. However, it's quite confusion in some holes. Neither map no staff tells the exact lay-out of the course.
Highly Recommended
The course is in excellent shape. Pace of play was very good. The staff is second to none, very friendly and accommodating. Great value, would highly recommend the course.
Ariss Valley
Great course for the value. Wasn't even that busy for a holiday Monday. I really enjoyed myself!
ariss valley
Course was in great shape and excellent value. Pace of play was great our foursome played in 3.5 hours which is nice for a change
challenging
wonderful course, great value for the money. the greens were well maintained and quick.
Great for a quick round
Have not played here since I started golfing about 17 years ago. Got a great deal through Golfnow at $10 for the round so why not right? This is a hilly course to walk but if you are in ok shape you will be fine. Played the Willows and the Lakes and found the Lakes to be in the best shape. Pretty short course from tee to green but once you get on the green don't expect a flat lie anywhere. Bring your putter to this course because the greens are very challenging. A little more TLC would make this place much nicer.
a little bit of everything
A course with challenges of every kind, Ariss Valley is a very enjoyable and challenging average-golfers course. The facilities and staff provide a very welcoming experience with excellent food for a quick turn.
A challenge for any skill level
Played Pines to Lakes. Plenty of water, creeks, and environmental that will offer enough challenges on each hole to demand distance and/or accuracy. With a slope rating of 117 it is a good all around course for most skill levels. Course conditions were very good, highly recommend it.
Ariss Valley
Great little course with some fun holes. I could see the conditions only getting better as when I was there it looked as if the grass was cut for the first time in weeks with the amount of clippings and the topdressed greens were a little rough in spots. The course is very playable with room to spray a tee shot here and there.
Terrible Cart Paths
Although this course has become more challenging, it is still very rough in spots and needs a paved cart path because we bounced our way through the entire path. You need a cart to play here because it is very hilly. The cart rate should be significantly reduced because of the shake-up you get on it.
Basics
This course was a mess! The grounds were covered in sod clods, there isn't a bench ANYWHERE, and the greens were terrible. This course is going downhill fast.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the course. We hope you come play again! Thank you for the first review of the year!
