Arkona Fairways Golf Course

We had not played this course for several years as it usually turned rock hard in the summer. Despite a recent spate of hot weather, the course was in remarkably good condition. The greens and fairways were all in good shape. Just a couple of tee boxes were torn up, most were in good condition. This course is a bit shorter but has an interesting layout which includes some water and changes in elevation. We liked it.

Cold and windy day. However course was not busy and play was steady. Nice layout.

Still not a terrible course, but definitely not one I would recommend anymore. The course was crowded due to poor timing and poor layout for the first 9. The steering and throttle response on their carts was horrendous and honestly kind of a safety and liability issue if you ask me. The grounds keeper was rude and was leaf blowing with a gas powered leaf blower right by us while we were trying to play, and there was no food available at the club house. Overall it’s hard to complain about a day out on the golf course, but at the same time I couldn’t help but thinking how far down hill the place has gone

The rough areas are too rough. The grass could be shorter

Paid $85 for 18 with cart. 5400 yards from tips , over priced. Could have played somewhere much better for less money. Price and slow play make this a deal breaker for a revisit.

Course is executive course trying to be full course. Rough was uncut in a week or so fairways were good but course still a nesting site for black flies and gnats. Trying to get better but failing under Golf North

First time I have played this course since Golf North took over. The fairways were good but the rough had not been cut in days, Teh sand was playable but there were no fringes on greens nor were they rolled. For the price for playing this course it was not worth it. The best thing about it was the Staff. The worse thing about it was the gnats they are out of control

Great layout,tough and easy holes.Had some problems with greens but did the best they could considering COVID-19 restrictions etc..Very friendly staff . A little more signage of the problems would have helped.Looking forward to next year.

We have enjoyed our first year as a member and are coming back for the 2021 season!

Always was made to feel welcomed by the friendly staff. The course is beautiful! Great food, nice patio to sit back and relax and watch the golfers coming in on the 9th hole.

Even though it may have been a bit of a rough start, you were always greeted with a smile Thank you Arkona , can’t wait until Spring!!

First the good. The course is short, but an excellent lay out. Good variety of flat and hilly terrain and a great mix of holes with some long par threes (not expected on a short course). Used every club in the bag which is a sign of a good test of golf. Need to hit driver on a few holes given how long they are. Fairways and tees were in good shape; which is saying something given the Summer we've had. Attendant in the pro shop was very nice and even said thanks for coming on my way out.

Now the bad. When I arrived the pro shop attendant informed me that all the greens were damaged. Some form of chemical mishap that killed large sections of all greens. She was right, they were in bad shape. This was news to me as this important detail was not on their website. She then said because of the damage the rates have been adjusted. She gave me $5 off my green fee! $40 to walk and play unplayable greens on every hole. I was shocked. I had driven almost an hour to play; if I was closer I would have walked out the door. Even if the course is in terrific shape the $45 price tag to walk is on the high side. Courses like Oxbow and Ingersoll stand out as comparisons. Bothe are better courses and you can walk both for about $30. Arkona's pricing is off the mark. With the greens the way they are they should be charging $20 per round. My ratings were obviously very critical of the conditions and value for money but I'll give them credit where credit is due on the rest. This post is mostly to make people aware of the green issues and let management know about the pricing. I think this is a fair review and I truly look forward to getting back when the greens issue is resolved; I hope the restoration work goes well for the club.

Played here quite frequently. Have played all the courses in Lambton County and this course had the most consistent greens. Extremely fast, hang on for the ride. Holes 16, 17, and 18 I consider to be the best three finishing holes in the county grouped together. The course is never busy, which is surprising. Everyone I ask all say they love Arkona. This is a perfect course for Seniors, Juniors and Women. Even big ball hitters who I have seen drive the ball close to alot of the greens, don't do well here.

Thoroughly enjoyed our day at Arkona....front nine fairly flat but challenging....quite surprised at the hilliness of the back 9 - glad we had carts..large greens are nicely manicured and reasonably quick - be prepared for the slopes to greens. Staff extremely friendly - unusual for most courses we have played. Had a good deal through Golf Now for $25 incl. tax and cart...can't beat that. Well worth the drive and will play again soon.
