Tarandowah Golfers Club
About
Tarandowah Golfers Club has a unique layout that closely resembles traditional Scottish links golf courses. There are undulating greens and sloped fairways that are made up of bentgrass and wispy fescue. Although there are no water hazards, Tarandowah Golfers Club boasts more than 100 deep, sod-faced bunkers that prove to be just as challenging if not more. Strong winds blow through the golf course, a factor that will affect your game if not careful. Tarandowah Golfers Club has several tricky uphill par 4s, but its longest and one of its more challenging holes is the par-5 14th, which stretches to 588 yards.

Like playing through a mine field
This course is like a chess match. With the fescue and the bunkering you could quickly be adding two to three strokes. The temptation is to try to reach in regulation as there’s some pretty long holes, The undulations, hard ground and gusting wind was like trying to plod my way through a mine field of pot bunkers and fescue. I kept choosing to play punchy shots for bogey and hope for the odd up and down which served me well. I was quite happy with my 88 even though it raised my handicap to a 13.
Love this course - Challenge always accepted.
Terrible Tarandaua
This course was recommended to me.
I do not know why…
Very expensive $120 for a round with a cart.
The “club house” was a garden shed with barely anything in it.
The putting green did not have any mini flags or pins…
There was equipment and garbage all over the starting area. Doors swinging open on equipment sheds that could have easily been closed.
The sand traps were pot holes that were 15 feet tall.
Did I mention it was $120 for a round?! Wild wild price.
No cart person.
Rock hard tee boxes that broke tees when putting them in.
Nothing happening at each hole indicating you spent a bunch of money to play here… a simple metal sign stating the hole number.
No change rooms.
I will never recommend this course to anyone because it has no redeeming qualities.
Would much rather play Kettle creek / echo valley.
Half way house wasn't open on a busy Wednesday. People going to club house for snack after 9 held things up Slow play for a mid week round almost 5 hrs, but thats better than being at work!!!. Otherwise course never disappoints, two friends never golfed there I think they'll be returning
Yearly special
I travel 2.5 hours to play Tarandowah once per year. A hidden golf test in the middle of farm country. This year I was able to get a rare $50 Hot Deal with cart. Links style track that forces you to hit fairways, avoid bunkers on approach and putt challenging greens that are in very good condition. This course is consistently rated in top 59 public courses in Canada. The negative that stood out is infrastructure that needs upgrading. Washrooms on the course not clean, cart paths that need grading or paving and carts that need fresh water in ball, club wash. Pace of play slow on back nine with no marshal present. Still Tarandowah is worth the trip.
Great course
This is a great course with lots of traditional bunkers and rescue be prepared to take lots of balls. However, the immediate golfer will be satisfied in this course because it test your ability to play effectively in score well.
Links fun.
If you are looking for the REAL feel of links golf, try Tarandowah. You can get away with a bit of offline tee shots but if you get into the bunkers (and there are plenty of them, expect to be challenged to make par.
In these dryer conditions (July 2025) the fairways roll out. You can play short of greens and expect to roll on.
The greens are small and undulating.
We've played it several times and enjoy it every time.
Overrated
Beside of thé Green, the course is very very dry !
We were very disappointed of the condition and the for the Price We paid. There is about 100 sand trap but none were maintained
Won’t go back
Great time
Great challenging course.
Finished round in 4 hours 10 minutes.
Course in great shape.
Friendly staff.
Great price on golf.
Really challenging course
Dude, play a links course for the first time. It's super tough. You gotta hit straight, or you're screwed. You should practice your bunker shots before you go, 'cause you'll need 'em. That fescue is a pain. I'm definitely coming back, though.
The course needs some irrigation
I’ve heard such great things about this course and it was a big disappointment. The course badly needed to be watered, especially the tee boxes and greens. You could barely get a tee in the ground they were so hard. The greens were just as bad as we watched good approach shots bounce off of them like it was hitting a cart path.
Course also seemed understaffed which was weird for a Sunday in the summer.
Overall, didn’t find it worth the money to play there.
Best Greens in Tillsonburg area
The greens here are the best in this area. Very true to how they look and feel. Fairway bunkers are deadly and must be respected. Overall my favourite course in the area!
