Great course but way too slow.
Course was in good condition and was an enjoyable round. Played in 5 h 20 minutes. That is not a typo. Rangers did nothing except to say it was volume and shrug their shoulders. The rangers needed to do something or say something to some of the groups ahead.
Not sure what the point of having rangers when people are having a 5+ hour round....
Beautiful course
The north course has a lot of elevation changes and is anything but boring. I found the greens very tricky - very undulated, fast going downhill but not too fast going uphill. All and all I enjoyed the course very much as did my playing partners.
Thank you!
Unique and Challenging
Other then the pace of play being a little slow, and the sand traps not being turned over, I couldn't find much fault in this challenging, unique and fun 18 holes. The greens are big and undulating and roll true. I loved the variety of holes and elevation changes. I would go back in a minute.
It is great to hear that you enjoyed the experience enough to return and we hope that next time the pace quickens and bunkers are properly repaired. The golf course maintenance crew typically provide outstanding playing conditions on a daily basis.
tough one
pretty tough challenge puts your game to a real test
Thank you for your high marks on course conditioning. We hope you return for another "test" soon.
Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion. We hope that you come back and see us again.
great track
beautiful course...great value...the toughest 6000 yards you'll ever play if you play the blues
Thanks!
Are You a Mountain Goat?
This course has severe elevation changes, making several holes quite gimmicky.
Nice variety of length and routing.
This was 1st time I played this course.
Next time I'll be more aware of club adjustments due to elevation changes.
A few difficult forced carries.
Power cart a MUST
We're glad to hear that you will return and yes, it should not surprise you as much the next time you experience the unique landscape.
A beautiful course
This was my first time playing this course, and I was impressed. The greens were in excellent condition, fairways and tee boxes also very nice. This is not an easy course. I'm about a 20 handicap, playing from the blues and the course was quite the challenge. Lots of forced carry tee shots. It feels like the entire course is uphill. Seriously. On just about every hole. It's infuriating. Hole #4 is especially diabolical. A "short" par 4 up the side of a mountain? Really? Who thought that was a good idea? Easily the worst designed hole on the course. When the course designers aren't trying to kill you, the other holes certainly test your entire game. Too many greens are guarded by severely sloped sides. Not fun. A great course to look at. Play the North if you want to punish yourself for doing something bad. If you want to reward yourself, play the South course. Way more fun on that side.
Thanks for posting. We agree that the North Course is a real challenge and we appreciate hearing your kind remarks with regard to course conditioning.
Nice course
Played the north course. Fairway, greens and rough were in great condition. My review would have been 5 stars. However, the sand traps were terrible. The traps were concrete. That and the driving range were not in the greatest condition. Other than that the course is nice
Thank you. Fortunately, the bunkers add a very unique concept to the elevation changes and you can imagine the challenge of upkeep. We do hope that all players can quickly rake the bunker back to the original condition, before moving on to their next shot.
A True Spring Test
I was looking for a coarse to give me a tough test to let me know were my golf game is this spring. Bond Head North gave me all that and a bag of chips. It's a wonderful coarse, beautiful views, friendly staff, and a huge challenge. I love this coarse!!!
Thanks and we hope to see you in the Summer and Fall, as well! We're always up for the test.
Beautiful course, tough layout
I played the North course, it was in excellent shape, very green and lush. I'm a 14-18 Handicap, depending on the course, I played from the Gold tees and some of the carries to the fairway were long. As some other reviewers had stated there are a lot of hidden shots, elevated tees and greens, plenty of bunkers, super fast greens and very thick rough but all was fair. I had my own Garmin GPS and the cart had a Golf Logix to assist, these tools are much needed on courses like this with its blind shots. I thoroughly enjoyed the course even though I didn't play well, can't they make a driver that just goes straight every time I hit it, LOL. I purchased my green fee through GolfNow at a reduced rate of $99 + txs and GolfNow fee =$116. Cart and practice range included, I actually used the range after my round for the first time in my life and got to work on some things. This was a very fair rate for this course but I wouldn't pay the full rate at $180. I've played quite a few courses across Canada and some in the US, Ontario rates are so out of whack it's unbelievable, when I tell others, that I golf with, they're shocked at the rates. I would definitely recommend this course but only at similar rates that I paid.
Please come back as rates have changed.
Amazing course
Beautiful layout great condition challenge for anyone
Thanks!
Outstanding course
The North course is an outstanding golf course with many very challenging holes. The greens are very tough and in great shape - tee boxes and fairways have many elevation changes with spectacular views of surrounding countryside. Sand traps are beautifully sculptured and there is minimal water (creek winds thru the course) but about 5 holes require a significant carry off the tee. Only issues I had was on most holes the walk from the golf cart to the green was significant. Looking forward to playing the South course soon.
We do hope that you have been back to experience the South Course as well. Thanks
outstanding course
I played the North course. It is a challenging, beautifully maintained course with fantastic views and dramatic elevation changes. The marshals and club house staff were very friendly and professional. It was one of my best golfing experiences in Ontario.
Wow, thank you for the very nice compliment. We hope that you have been back to try the South Course.
Amazing.
Amazing course, different then many other course, many elevation changes. shots are always keeping your toes. one of my favourite stops on the clublink list.
thank you!
Make the drive
If you don't like elevation changes with plenty of bunkers this course is not for you. Course was in good condition but playing late in day greens were a little rough and tough to hold. Unique holes with unreal scenery. Only negative would be bunkers with very little sand and small stones ( 2 out of 5). We'll be back to try South course but only at reasonable price. At $180 rack rate this is not Muskoka Bays and definetly worth no more than $100
We do hop that you have been back... rates changed in 2015 and we look forward to accommodating you again. Same great product!
Hilly quirky a lot of forced carries and blind aPproaches
I will never play bond head north again. There are too many better options that require less money to play and offer a better layout. The design is so bad u can't even park the golf cart near the greens.
Agreed there are some quite steep elevation changes. I don't think you can judge whether you should play a course on one person's review. I was a member there for three years and I agree there are some quirky holes but I think overall it's a decent course on the clublink rota albeit a little overpriced
Thank you. I have wondered if this course in the clublink family was worth the money. Having played many of their properties I have an expectation. Your review reveals a course that is flawed. That explains a lot about this courses place in the clublink heirarchy. Thank you for saving me a lengthy drive to such a disappointment.
Well maintained
For a mid-May round of golf this course was in good shape ... with the rough being pretty thick and tough and greens firm and difficult.
Gimmicky course design
Each hole seems to have either a blind or severely inclined approach.. after awhile it becomes quite tiring.
It is definitely a unique piece of land and requires a golf cart. We urge you to come back and experience the golf course a second time... it's much easier to know exactly where you are going.
This is not typical and perhaps the Player Assistant was a little frustrated with a group in front, but we'll continue to work hard on keeping the 4.25 hour pace, which is the norm.
