Another beautiful Round at Millcroft
Millcroft for me is a hidden Gem, quickly becoming my favourite and go to course in my area, course is in emasculate condition l, the staff are very friendly and attentive and of course value for money is second to none.
If you haven’t got yourself a round at Millcroft then you should.
Always in great shape
While not long Milcroft makes you hit some quality golf shots. Greens in great shape. Par threes are strong.
Do not play late in the day here
They actually charged our twosome $17 more than the golf now rate. The guy in the pro shop told us we could only play 9 as our tee time was 3:30 and we couldn’t take carts out after the 9. We were walking so it made no difference, I think he must have upped the fee and we didn’t notice till I got home.
Course is in great condition as always but the staff want to get home apparently and not take care of the paying customers.
They actually had a sign on 10 saying the back 9 was closed due to darkness. I actually went in and said what are you doing? He let us go. It was 5:45 and we were done at 7:30 with some daylight still.
It’s too bad, this is their policy. We won’t go back not because of the course but the staff.
Great Day
Keep in the fairway, rough is deep + thick, as it should be
An Excellent Day!
The course conditions were superb! While battling the winds, we managed to have a great round of golf. We could not have asked for any better from the staff. They are extremely conscious of COVID protocol which was very much appreciated! The only suggestion I would have is making the washrooms more disability friendly as stairs are required to get to any of them.
Second times a charm.
Bit slow on the back 9 today but course is in Excellent condition and great value.
Crappy course
The course was very wet and the greens in poor shape and the bunkers and not been tended in a long time...no rakes, no ball washers so overall the course was in poor condition...not worth full price and I wouldn't play this track again.. Not good value.
First time round
I really enjoyed my first round at Millcroft the course was in excellent condition and it’s priced well. The course amenities are really good and the staff were super friendly I would very much recommend a visit if you have t been before. I will definitely be back.
Disappointed
Let me preface this by saying I actually consider this my 'home' course. I live just down the road and play here many times a season.
I'm very upset by how we've been treated the last few rounds we've played here by the clubhouse staff.
A week ago I booked a quick 9 at 5:50pm with my old man and brother and wanted carts. We got to the course, and were told the night before they changed their policy about cart rentals, and any time after 5:50 they'd no longer give power carts. My old man has trouble walking, so had we known this, we would have booked anywhere else. We ended up walking and got about 6 holes in before we had to pack it in as he was hurting. Paid about $100 for all three (~35 each), fair. That was Friday Aug. 27.
Booked on Tuesday, Aug 31, with my bro at 5:50 pm again and walked 9 (knowing we wont get carts), got it all in by 8 pm and even had time to sit on the patio for a beer until 8:20 pm.
So knowing what what knew about carts, and daytime. I booked a 4:40 pm tee time on September 3, figured with carts and daylight we can fit the full 18 in. We ended up paying $180 for the three of us (Green fees plus power carts).
Was having a great round! I shot a 37 and my bro a 38 on the front 9. On #9 we bought a round of drinks from the cart girl who asked us if she was going to see us on the back 9 (you bet!). Only for us to get to #10 to see a sign saying we could no longer play.
At 6:20 pm, we were told to leave the course that it was too late too play. That is absurd. $60 each to play 9? And end at 6:20 pm? We literally could have booked another 9 holes at their sister course (Indian Wells) up the road at that time and finished there.
Really disappointed. It seems every time I play there now the rules change. We've always just played until it got dark out, for the last 3 years there. We purposely booked early to get the 18 in, and were turned away. We tried to tee off on the front and were chased off and told to leave.
Not that it matters, but I won't be back there this season. I know it wasn't the kids fault who enforced the rule, but these new time slots and restrictions are crap. I booked on golf now, so had no warning about the restrictions. The whole point of the early tee time was so we could get carts and fit a full 18 in. Had we known we were being restricted we'd never have booked this course.
I'm not looking to grieve, or for compensation, I just hope this serves as a warning to anyone who's planning a twilight round here to know what you're getting. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else if you want to tee off past 4 pm.
As an aside - Despite the restrictions in play in the evening, the course is in terrific shape, so hats off to the the grounds crews. They did a magnificent job this year, and the greens are some of the most true putting surfaces around.
